It has come to my attention that most people don't know what the Chiss Ascendancy is about, or their purpose, and that there is difficulty in making a Chiss Character. Thus I have made this thread with the hopes that people can better understand the Chiss, and hopefully join the Chiss. (Props to Saul for his help)

Question: Do I have to be a Chiss to join the CA?
Answer: No, absolutely not, while it may come off as the Chiss being super xenophobic, they aren't. They accept other species into the Ascendancy so long as they follow their culture, much like the Mandalorians. (Ex.: Jagged Fel).

Question: Speaking of Culture, what is the Chiss culture?
Answer: Well that depends, since we have recently implemented a Family system, and families vary in views. However, most Chiss are well educated and artistic, they are also very cautious of outsiders, but not Xenophobic. Chiss also demand respect and are very civilized and polite, expecting the same from visitors, Chiss or not. They are also very independent, which leads most people to believe they are cold and distant even though most aren't. Still they value their privacy a lot so it wouldn't be wise to go digging around in a Chiss' apartment for things. They are also very pensive, and are not ones to make rash decisions without contemplating various scenarios first. This also leads people to believe them to be without emotion which isn't true, instead they just don't let their emotions get in their way, much like in the Jedi, because in truth they also have passion for power, to further their family's renown and power, much like the Sith.

Criminals are also very much disliked because of this, and are viewed as weak and pathetic individuals. Still they do not believe in executions, instead exile is their greatest punishment, since it is seen not only as a stain on the individual but also the family in question. The Chiss are also highly militaristic, with Chiss expected to join the military at ages as young as ten. Chiss also revolve around ruling families, which aren't always biological families. Instead they are more like government branches (Ex: The Csapla dictated colonial issues, natural resources and agriculture whilst the Nuruoda handled the military as well as foreign affairs. Inrokini were responsible for industry, science, communication and non-military technology with the Sabosen taking the duty of overseeing justice, public health as well as education.) Chiss are also fiercely loyal to their family, and as a general rule would do nothing to bring shame upon that family. Still inter-clan rivalries do spawn up, and many Chiss eventually dabble in intelligence missions against a rival family in order to try to get it exiled, thus making Chiss excellent intelligence agents.

As said before Chiss are also highly militaristic, and very skilled in military affairs. They are among the most dutiful species in the galaxy, rivaling even the Mandalorians. Still they are not one to give into passion, known to spare surrendering ships, even not celebrating until a job is completely done since they view celebration before such an event, false. They follow any given order, despite their own personal feelings, due to believing in the skill of their commanders. Still they are not partial to leading suicide missions or wasting life without reason as those actions are viewed as unnecessary and just plain stupid.

Even though not extreme xenophobics, Chiss are not one to trust any other species expect their own. They are always plotting to undermine other species, even if they are their allies. They are also prone to stealing technology from other species, only to improve it and then use it against them. Still, even though seemingly violent, Chiss are rather peaceful and usually only plan as a fail safe, more like a what if situation, not a when. They are also willing to adopt non Chiss species into the Ascendancy so long as they are deemed trustworthy and loyal.

Chiss also have good morals, never willingly acting as aggressors or killing civilians, but when they are attacked they do not rest until the attacker is destroyed or subjugated. They also have no true economical system within their space, instead they are self-sufficient and work on a barter sort of system, providing food and resources for themselves while creating advanced technology. They are also not greedy, or passionate about conquering neighbors, preferring to be left alone, instead their conquests are led by a need to sustain their population not further their power or get rich. In the end the Chiss are sleeping dragons, that when aroused can lay waste to their enemies. (If you need more information on the Chiss as a whole please refer here, if you need information on the families refer here for the Mar family or here for the Prad family.)

Question: Are there Force Sensitive Chiss? Do they have a Force group?
Answer: Of course, just as much as Humans or any other species in the galaxy that isn't cut off from the force, there are Force sensitive Chiss (Ex. Nuru Kungurama and Sev'rance Tann). While the Chiss do not have a formal Force sect, it is because Force users are allowed to operate in any branch of the Chiss Ascendancy from CEDF to CAIN to Immortals.

Question: As a new player what rank could I expect in the Chiss Ascendancy Military?
Answer: As a new player you'd probably receive a rank of Conscripti, but you could be given a rank as high as Legionnaire Prime, just don't expect anything higher than that. (For more information on ranks in the military look here)

Question: Ok, what if I don't want to be in the standard military, what other choices do I have?
Answer: With Reforms complete those that don't want to be apart of the CEDF can now join the Immortals, a shock trooper legion, or CAIN, the Chiss Intelligence Network, both include a Force Sensitive section

Question: Okay, I'm making my character, but I'm having trouble with the Name. How do Chiss names work?
Answer: If you're having trouble with the name you can refer to this thread, which explains it pretty well thanks to Mars, or you can ask any of the Chiss leaders (Me, Wiess, Nightmare Moon and Nephill Kilner).

Question: In the making of my character what would be acceptable backgrounds?
Answer: While there are endless possibilities, the more easy and basic backgrounds are those based in the military since the Chiss are a militaristic people, but other backgrounds are possible, as a trader or smuggler. As I said, the possibilities are endless, if you really need help coming up with a background for your character, let me know and I'll be glad to help.

Question: Honestly, why should I even consider making a Chiss? They seem pretty lame and uptight.
Answer: Well, one because we are blue xD. Seriously though, the Chiss provide a break from your usual Jedi and Sith, and provide a different angle to look on. They are also more technologically advanced than any other faction, in a sense, and since we are low on PCs we can provide a more 1 on 1 experience for newcomers.

Note: If there are any question that you personally have PM me and I will get to it as soon as possible. Thank you.:)
