Isiah's throat tightened as it reacted to the attack. Using his hand that was still on River's collar he attempted to throw the other off. If they kept trading blows like that then they would get nowhere.

River felt a shove as he was pushed off of Isiah, Trying to focus in a good comeback, and what he came up with was an attempt at a kick to the apprentice' outer thigh. However, it suddenly clicked that this was turning into a fist fight instead of training their abilities in the Force of Others, so, right after he swung his leg, he turned a lot of focus on his natural ability to confuse and control minds, and just started hitting the apprentice with all he had with it. At least it might distract him, he hoped, as he tried to come up with something next to do, perhaps working towards a finish.

Before Isiah could strike he felt a sharp pain in the upper region of his leg. The bastard had kicked him! Just when he was about to strike back Isiah fealt his vision blur and the same experience he had felt before the training. Isiah also noticed that River seemed to not be moving. It then dawned on the apprentice that his opponent was most likely the one doing this. Isiah had learned a little about manipulation through the Force of Others but he had never been on the recieving end nor did he himself know how to use the ability. After realizing this disadvantage Isiah clenched his fists and lunged at River. All Isiah aimed for was the center of the blur that was River.

While Isiah was disoriented, River made an attempt to stand when he was tackled by the apprentice once more. In retaliation, he tried to twist to get on top at the same time trying to hit Isiah with his knee, all the while keeping up and working to hone his mind control.

Not meaning to get into another grapple, Isiah did his best to get out of River's grip and put some distance between them. River was very capable of fighting with fists and Isiah had to give him that. It seemed to him that the only edge held in this fight was River's apparent prowess with mind tricks. Instead of attacking Isiah began to reach out to the Force of Others more. Using its strength to fortify his mind from intrusion, something he DID know how to do.

It seemed that Isiah was fighting off his mind attack pretty well, so, while the apprentice was concentrating, River suddenly quit it the second that he made an attempt to knee him and give him a left hook to his jaw, as his right arm still tingled a bit.

Isiah took the knee to the gut but still managed to block the left hook. Not one to show any real weaknesses Isiah aimed his own left handed strike at River's jaw. When he was halfway through the motion Isiah did notice that the muscles in hsi gut had tightened up a lot.

This time around, Isiah's punch hit harder, his teeth ground together, and he could feel his mouth bleeding. In retaliation, he made a move to knee him in the gut once more, seeing that that was doing some good. After the attempt, he began to pull back his fist for another strike when something stuck him, and he suddenly said, in his gruff voice, "Wait," he then moved off Isiah as he rubbed his jaw, then sat up, "What more does this teach us about being a Bendu than streetfighting? I think we're going to have to change something."

OOC: I take this as sign to wait for Kel to make a triumphant return?

((No, once Isiah replies I was going to imply a change of rules - and bounce them off you IC, of course - and make thoughts saying that he thought that Lillianne was testing them to see if they would figure that out by themselves, that kind of thing. We're going to keep going - just with different rules))

OOC: Alrighty

"Agreed."

Isiah was glad to have a pause in the combat. This allowed him to retrieve what breath he had lost when River kneed him in the gut. Changing up the rules wouldn't be a bad idea either. Not much good could come out of him and River beating eachother sensless.

"All right," River replied, crossing his arms as he looked at Isiah expectantly.

((Remember, we're bouncing ideas. I'm not making you come up with everything, it's just that he's not the type to start spouting ideas))

"How about we do a battle with no contact but with only attacks through the Force of Others."

River thought for a minute, then slowly nodded. He was pretty sure that Isiah would know about the same as him, Lilly wasn't the one to pit him against someone who would pulverize him, despite the fact that he, himself, didn't know that much.

Okaaay... the mind trick didn't work too well, so either he would have to time it, divert it, or abandon it. As it was a natural part of his race, he was pretty sure it had to be one of the two former. He decided that timing it would be good, so he would put it off for the moment. Waiting for Isiah to make the first move, River concentrated deeply, using his Anzati senses that went beyond sight to locate and predict Isiah's movements, to a degree.

Isiah relaxed his muscles as their wouldn't be much direct abuse that they would take. Bringing the Force of Others around him, Isiah began forming it into what he visualised as a wall of the Force. When he was fully certain this wall was fully managed and that he had enough energy concentrated. Isiah made a quick outward motion pushing a burst of the Force of Others at River.
