"It is not swords that you will be requiring, but the prowess of your minds," she said with a smirk.

"Just as I've told you both in your trainings, the Force of Others comes from all life. It cannot be created nor destroyed. What was in the beginning remains today. When we die, our spirits will pass on and we shall become one with the Force of Others just as our ancestors.

Now, as we begin every lesson. I want you to not be intimidated by this room, nor by the scars upon the walls. Focus upon the Force of Others flowing through you, through each of us and within these halls."

He nodded, slowly. His gaze traveled over to his temporary opponent, coming up with a general strategy before turning completely to him, arms crossed casually. "Whenever you are ready."

Isiah gave him a sly smile before he nodded slightly.

"You bet I am."

He left his sword where it was resting, even if this wasn't a combat heavy excercise he still had moral qualms to using the sword against an unarmed opponent. Isiah began to do as instructed and began to reach out to the Force of Others letting it's energy flow through him at its own pace.

He brought to mind all that Lilly had taught him, and augmented it by his race's natural ability in it. though he was not incredibly powerful, he knew one thing - he could outlast the boy. Being a farmer gave one plenty of stamina, that and guarding and herding equestrias gave one strength and patience. Isiah, he could see, had definitely not lived his life on a homestead. He had agility, and he had talent in the sword but he was a - what was the word? - tenderfoot. Nonetheless, this would be a challenge. Isiah had been here longer, after all.

He let out a slow breath, shutting his eyes as he focused, working on drawing his strength and connection to a fine point. Slowly, though not too much so, he projected from quiet white noise to a intense confusion and dizziness into the young Knight. Whether he could fight it off was his problem. Which way are you facing? Is the room spinning? Are you even upright? Where am I? he subtly cast into him, trying to make it seem as if Isiah's own mind was coming up with these thoughts.

Meanwhile, River stood there, not moving, eyes still shut, breathing slow, focusing on his race's sixth sense to figure out where everything was, after all, Isiah and Lilly shone as bright lights and pinpoints of energy in this sense, their general surface feelings written all over it. Right now, all he had to do was wait, and watch.

As Isiah's sync with the Force of Others increased the more of the room he was able to make out. First, he could see rough silhouettes of Lilly and River and then some small details of the room. Soon he could pick up everything though it was still 'fuzzy' at some points.

Suddenly thoughts shot into Isiah's head. Rather stupid ones asking him his position or if he knew which way up or down he was facing. Of course he was standing up and he knew exactly where he was. It seemed odd for his mind to act in such a way but Isiah just attributed it to his mind trying to fill up the void of thoughts.

His 'vision' has skewed a bit when the thoughts had arisen so he had to make some quick adjustments in his concentration. Again he was set and ready. Isiah balled up his fist and took a few steps forward towards River to test how his 'sight' held while moving. He also tested to see if River would react.

That was something he would have to hone, the mind tricks didn't seem to work. Well, if he'd have put his entire talent in it to work, it would have been somewhat effective, he was sure. After all, that was how the predatorial members of his race got their meals. However, most of it was rather dark. He would have to work on the lighter side of it.

Fortunately, his sixth sense was working pretty well, and was pretty accurate about position, as he could both feel and tell how close Isiah was moving and how. He kicked the sense up a few notches by focusing less on toying with the Knight's mind. However, River did not move, but he tensed up, readying for anything. After all, he'd encountered dangerous animals before, and he knew that whoever made the first move made the first opening. That this was a Human, and a Bendu, for that matter, would make it more difficult, but he still would follow his normal survival routine. It had apparently worked thus far.

OOC: Isiah is still an apprentice unless I have been promoted without knowing. Which has been the case in the Mandos sometimes.

River didn't seem to take much note of his movement. Either he wasn't really tuned or he just was putting on a show. It was always good to be safe. Isiah charged forward and brought back his right fist. He manuevered his upper body so that he could somewhat block with his left forearm. When he was in range Isiah lunged forward, aiming his shot at River's head. Even if River blocked it would take a bit of strength to slow Isiah down. Even then his opponent would moste likely grab onto the part of Isiah's body moving closest to him which was his blocking arm. This would still give Isiah tome to readjust a little bit and maybe land a quick shot in.

((Whatevah :P))

River could feel the tingle in his mind that meant movement, could hear the sound of a lunge about to be directed towards him. He could taste the position of Isiah's body to make a swing at his head and, just at the right moment... he ducked.

Dodging the shot, River's eyes opened and he sprung back up with a fist aimed for a beautiful uppercut at the Bendu apprentice's jaw.

Isiah had expected River to dodge, but he had also expected a block. He didn't have time to curse himself for his over sight as he was hit clean int he jaw and his momemntum sent him over River. When he landed he landed on his arms, they were slightly outstretched to provide some shock absorbtion. When his arms were int he tucked position he curled slightly and did a roll and was soon back on his feet and swiftly came back at River. Thise time he stayed grounded and was aiming at River's gut using the same technique he had with his earlier aerial assault, but now grounded of course.

There is a fairly fundamental rule to fighting, though more like a basic tenant to keep in mind: you can't duck a blow to the gut. Even farmboys know that. You can try, but you'll just end up hurting yourself. Now, getting hit in the gut is bad. Farmboys know that, too. You get winded and you give an opening for another blow. That does not go well.

A little unsure as how to go about dealing with this, River tired to perhaps keep his opponent at a distance with a right hook to the jaw, though he knew that if that didn't work that discomfort would follow.

Isiah did a get a tad berserk in fights. This caused things with the Force of Others to blur slightly. River's definate shape was lost to him as he came barreling towards his fellow apprentice. He was so close he could almost smell the other. In his peripheral he caught a slight movement in River's shape and instinctively ducked. It wasn't fast enough to dodge completely but he was glanced on the head witha sharp pain. Instead of stumbling Isiah decided to lunge forward before he could be knocked away. Isiah was too closed to be denied. He put his weight into the blow. If this connected both him and River would most likely be brought to the ground.

Pain shot through him as he lost his breath, and weakness came over him. Not good, especially when your knees buckle. Immediately, thoughts ran through his brain on how he was to retaliate while shortened so. There was one thing that really worked, and he was at about the right level... but he figured that would not be very fair. This wasn't an enemy after all, there was a limit to the suffering. So, he settled for the next best thing. Using all the strength he could muster so soon after such a blow, he threw it at the apprentice's knee, in hopes that it would weaken or buckle beneath the strike.

The fist struck and a little bit of Isiah cheered. Then there was a pain in his kneecap and he hit the ground. Slightly dazed but still in the fight, Isiah slowly rose. Though his knee was ordering that he stay back down, he still stood. The joint was stiff at first but Isiah was solely in controll of it and he ordered it to move him forward and back towards River. Isiah curled his left fist and jumped forward to close the gap between his opponent more quickly, being careful to not land on his now hurt leg. He aimed the quick left hook for River's left jaw.

River was pleased that the maneuver had worked so well, but now he had to work to keep from focusing on the fact that he was still out of breath and his abdomen hurt. Well, he'd been through worse, he managed to rise to his feet, but it was difficult to keep one hand from protectively guarding his gut.As he rose, upon seeing Isiah fall, he once more tried an uppercut, trying to dodge the fist that was coming right for him, but that one was going to be difficult. He probably could have dodged it for the fact that he was still recovering from the previous blow. He felt the fist make contact with his jaw, and began to taste just a bit of blood as his teeth were jabbed into the side of his mouth.

Isiah was expecting a bit of a 'simultaneous attack' stituation. He was able to move his neck to dodge it but River's body was restricting most of his mobility. He was hit on the right side of his jaw and the force of it was enough to mak his teeth make a loud cmanking sound as his mouth was forced shut. The pain blurred his vision a little but he had to keep up the attack while River was weak. The uppercut actually gave him somethign to work with. Isiah shifted his footing quickly and tried to grab onto River's arm. If he could latch onto the limb then Isiah would try and bring his opponent to the floor by throwing River over his back.

River felt pain for the first few seconds of Isiah's punch, the kid hit pretty hard. During the momentary interim in which the focus was all in the sudden pain, he felt the apprentice grasp the arm he had just hit him with. Deciding to try to use this to his advantage but moving his arm forward and shoving his arm downwards, working to use the leverage of the position of Isiah's arm and shoulder to force the Human down to his knees - fortunately, he was pushing down on the bad knee, so he hoped that would help him.

River knew his stuff. Plus, this guy seemed to take a few punches. Isiah had to 'smile' at this realization. This wouldn't be any fun if it ended with plopping River on his back afterall. He was going down no matter what at this point so all Isiah concentrated on was trying to use his unwounded leg to give him some momentum. Once his body was turned the way he wanted Isiah let his wounded leg give in to the pressure and pushed with the other. If everything worked as planned both River and himself would hit the ground on their sides. With the added momentum he hoped to gain, Isiah would put himself on top of River.

River definitely did not expect this next move, and was caught off-guard by the tactic. Suddenly he found he was thrown to his side, and landing a bit off, as he suddenly felt his lower arm go numb before pulsing with pain. As his world had very suddenly been turned askew, he didn't have time enough to counteract when Isiah landed on top of him. He mentally cursed himself; if Isiah had been an animal after his herd, he would be dead by now. Fortunately, Isiah wasn't trying to kill him and River was also pretty sure that he didn't have a snout full of canines with which to bite his throat, so he was relatively safe, but, still, to get into this situation was very bad.

Despite this, he had to nullify or reverse the situation, so he brought up one knee to maybe jab him in the abdomen or lower, at the same time grabbing him by the collar with his good arm in an effort to get some leverage.

OOC: Sooo... we just keep fighting until Kel finds a hole in her schedule? Oh, also you just made a minor error that has no relevance really. Isiah isn't wearing a shirt so you couldn't have grabbed him by the collar, which I assume you meant on his shirt not his collar bone.

Isiah couldn't help the shift of power. Laying on top of River there had been no way dodge that knee to his gut. Now feeling the same daze that his opponent had been in Isiah knew he had to think fast. He would have tried to kick River in the back of the head but he would need River to be sitting closer to his chest and he would need to be rather flexible. Isiah reached up and attempted to grab onto his opponent's shirt to drag him down closer. The apprentice also brought back his right fist, waiting to see if he could bring River's head in closer for a nice punch to the noggin.

((Sorry, I wasn't aware of his attire... oops))

River suddenly found himself shoved to the floor even as he tried to rise. For a moment, he was dazed as his head snapped back against the hard surface, but he recovered as quickly as he could. However, just as soon as he did so, he felt a fist slam into his left cheek, once more making him unaware of a few seconds, though in instinctive retaliation he swung gain with his good arm, this time aiming for Isiah's neck.
