who else believes that to allow someone freedom is a sacrifice
I say freedom could be a bad thing
allowing one man freedom gives them the chance to gain and grow while leaving you stagnant
freedom is could also be bad when a person only knows one way of life.
like not having plans after high school or college. that's when you become free to find a goal
if you look at the big picture i guess its a good thing after all

Freedom is the ability to act in a certain way. It's easy to visualize in the context of, say, navigational freedom, or the ability to move in every direction. Operational freedom.

To be free is to have no obstacle barring that movement or restraints preventing you from moving. Freedom is agency

That being said, it is therefore impossible for true freedom to exist for everyone; because just as certain free movements by physical actors may prevent the free movement of another, the aims of free individuals may often come into conflict with one another and their ability to be free. Diminishing the ability of another to act or function in a certain way to fulfill your own aims.

In this case freedom is a very good thing for the dominant actor, but that freedom to act in a certain way may not be so good for others.

I would say then that freedom may often be dependent upon the sacrifices of the freedom of other individuals or entities, but that in my opinion freedom itself is a universal good, because without it we are all simply mechanisms of something or someone else's design and none of our actions have any meaning or purpose beyond whatever function they might fulfill to that aim.
