DESCRIPTION
The FX-series medical assistant droid is a model of medical droid originally manufactured by Medtech Industries, a medical equipment manufacturer which went out of business shortly after the Clone Wars. The company is survived by its products, however, many of which continue to be produced under license by various third parties, the FX included.Designed to function primarily as an orderly in operating rooms and other medical environments, the FX - affectionately referred to as a "Fix-It" droid by many - is equipped with a suite of medical diagnostic sensors, a few broadly useful surgical and sterilization implements, and an array of over 20 modular manipulator arms which can be used either to hand implements to an organic or droid surgeon, hold a patient for examination or surgery, or be replaced with more specialized surgical or diagnostic implements at the discretion of medical personnel. Generally speaking, FX droids are not meant to perform complex medical procedures on their own, being designed to be overseen by an organic or droid doctor, however they can perform surgeries and other procedures on their own in a pinch.
FX-series droids are known for having a fairly poor bedside manner. They also often forget things like sedatives and anesthetic when performing surgery, and must be reminded to apply them. FX droids are most often paired with more capable medical droids or organic doctors; they also often function as nurses and pharmacists in large medical facilities.
