DESCRIPTION​

The G-400 starfighter is a small combat spacecraft which was manufactured by a cooperative effort between Nubia Star Drives and TransGalMeg Industries. Aiming to produce a Nubia-designed ship at prices the average small defense force or mercenary company could afford, the G-400 incorporated a great deal of Nubia Star Drives' design language and attention to detail, but was made at TransGalMeg facilities using off-the-shelf components, and thus was not quite up to the same standard of fit and finish. Nevertheless, the type was a minor sales success in the decades leading up to the Clone Wars, and padded the two manufacturers' profits nicely.

The G-400 is 10.5 meters in length, with twin outrigger engine pods and a blunt, flat fuselage with an offset cockpit. Armament consists of a single heavy laser cannon, nothing to sneeze at at the time it was built. Other equipment includes a light deflector shield and a class 2 hyperdrive. Top speed is 90 MGLT, with decent maneuverability.

The G-400 was discontinued shortly after the Clone Wars began to make way for production of other starfighter types. Prior to this, however, it was the ship of choice for any number of planetary militias, small mercenary groups, and at least one anti-Trade Federation resistance faction. By the time of the Galactic Civil War, however, most examples had been sold on to operators deep in the Outer Rim, where a few remain to this day.

LEGALITY​

Restricted. G-400s are starfighters, and despite their obsolescence they are still subject to extra licensing requirements and increased scrutiny by authorities.
