Thought I'd create this thread so that we don't clutter up the Congress sign-up thread.

Seriously guys, we should consider just kicking the Mandalorians butts.

i once thought that a union could be achieved between the Alliance and the mandos after we beat them in Teth but now i agree. Destroy their warrior culture once and for all now that they are weak. They are too much of a threat to ignore and they had their chance.

That's a debate you should save for later. The Mandalorians aren't a topic in the first session of Congress - yet - so let's save any discussion on them until a more appropriate time. :3

Well speaking about another sessions can the congress members actually request senate sessions to be held if the majority of the senates agree on it?

Can we get the first session going considering the fact that nothing that's happened so far (the Mando relations and Bastele being captured) will impact it? I don't want Congress to get relegated to some dark basement of the GA.

I thought Congress was holding a special session just for the Mandalorians. If that's the case, then it needs to get rolling. The last post in the first session was back on the 23rd. If these sessions are going to have an impact on current story events, then I believe these need to keep rolling or else we will be holding back everyone else.

If there's not much left to do, I say we focus on the Emergency Session. The general could be still worked on, but if there's not much of that significant continuation to the thread, it won't impact anything so we don't have to wait for its conclusion.

By the way, are these congressional sessions open for the public to attend or at least watch in some way?

In terms of the emergency session, I'm fairly certain the Jedi wouldn't have the authority to make the declaration that GABA put up. I have a feeling that was in the voice of the GA, not the Jedi. I could be wrong though, but it just seems illogical to think GABA meant otherwise, imho.

@Amilthi: I wouldn't think these would be available for public viewing, no. Especially not an emergency session.

@Maverick: I think it'd be safe to assume that the measures were taken by the Alliance Military, not the NJO. Gaba would have to confirm that, though.

Confirm that I will. Unless I specify otherwise, GA related stuff is separate from the NJO voice.

After speaking with Bac, there's 2 courses of action that can be taken;
1. Cyeon Hunebar can (and most likely would) be removed by the planetary government of Cularin.
2. Congress can publicly remove him (though he would resign anyway, so it's kind of redundant) or vote on some official resolution as a show of... whatever to the Mandos.

As it is, there's really nothing for him to defend himself with. I mean, if I had known I couldn't do that sort of thing, I wouldn't have done it. Honestly, there's nothing I can come up with to have him defend himself because it wouldn't have happened if my OOC ignorance didn't get in the way.

But you all can choose whatever it is you want to do...

I think it'd be kindest of us to allow him to resign, so I'm in favor of allowing Cyeon to resign. The alternative is jabbing pitchforks and torches in his face and going 'YOU SUCK LEAVE LEAVE LEAVE', which is invariably what a call for his removal would turn into.

Again, let him resign, rather than punt him out. But that's just the stance Keller would take IC'ly - ooc'ly, it really won't matter in the end as the final result is the same.

I don't know if any of this has happened yet, but, from an IC perspective, it makes the most sense politically to have Congress vote to expel him. That would be the political way of sending the message to the Mandalorians that his actions have been repudiated by the government.

Well, nothing's been done with it yet so someone can set that up if they want.
Again, ICly I have nothing for him to say because it was an OOC mistake with IC consequences. If I had known, OOCly, that I would have to go through Congress (which is just stupidity on my part) and should have talked to you, Bac, and not GABA, then he never would have done that. Honestly, there's not IC justification for him doing that. I mean... I can make something up if you really want me to but it's just not in his character to do that if he would have known that wasn't in his power to do so.

The only IC justification I can think of is that he really severely misspoke, and his misstatement had severe consequences.
