Galak Daggoth's

Holocron

___________________________________________________________________________________

Excerpt from the artifact's description in the Empire's holocron vault:

This object is the Sith holocron, crafted during the early days of the Sith Empire, of a Sith Lord known as Galak Daggoth.

Galak Daggoth was a Jedi Master turned Sith Lord who fought on the side of the Old Empire over a century ago. During the fighting, the Jedi captured Daggoth and forced him to stand trial before the Jedi Council. However, the Jedi did not believe in killing their prisoners, and so they conferred upon him what they felt would be a more meaningful punishment. Using their combined powers, the Jedi stripped Daggoth of the Force and exiled him, believing him crippled and useless to his old Sith Masters.

But Daggoth was not content to allow his enemies to rob him of his great powers. Having heard of the restorative rituals practiced by the Force-sensitive Voss, Daggoth traveled to Voss to learn the secret to restoring his power with the Force. Daggoth's efforts were successful: he was restored to the Force. But, in recovery, he was paranoid of a repeat incident.

Drawing upon the ancient knowledge of the Sith, Daggoth constructed this holocron to contain his knowledge of the ritual he learned. Within, he also recorded the process he set about to craft the holocron—preserving the art for future generations of Sith Lords.

His knowledge protected, and the technique to defeating the Jedi's most devastating punishment preserved, Daggoth concealed his holocron safely away in the Dark Heart of the Nightmare Lands on Voss, hoping that the wretched energies there—and the abominations they created—would keep the artifact safe and make it accessible only to worthy Sith Lords.

Unsurprisingly, Galak Daggoth is the only gatekeeper of the holocron. The artifact is designed in the traditional Sith format of a pyramid.

End of excerpt.

The Ritual

The ritual, as transcribed by Darth Malon from the Holocron itself, is recorded below:

I am Galak Daggoth: Lord of the Sith and keeper of this volume of secrets.

If you are seeking out my knowledge, then the Jedi must have unleashed their repugnant technique upon the Sith again. But fear not—I have unlocked the secret to undoing their sorcery. You who has proven worthy of locating my holocron, I bequeath to you this secret.

The ritual you must preform will restore your lost connection to the Force, but it is not without risks and drawbacks. For instance, you must choose another strong in the dark side to assist you with the ritual. Choose your partner wisely, because the effects of this ritual will place your lives in each other's hands. A treacherous soul can ruin everything before it can even begin.

Once you have chosen for yourself a suitable companion, they must open themselves to the dark side of the Force—reach out with it to touch your Force-ridden mind. This part of the ritual requires absolute concentration. Should your partner lose their focus, it could destroy your mind and drive you mad... or worse. But, should they succeed, they will bind themselves to you: link the part of your mind that reaches out to the Force, which has lost its connection, to their connection to the Force.

The drawbacks are obvious and manyfold. Your connection will be restored, but at a price. Your use of the Force—its feeling—will be distant, as if you are hearing it echo out across space and time to reach you from some far away place. Furthermore, you may notice that you and your partner are able to unwillingly share thoughts and emotions. As you might imagine, this is a dangerous bond for Sith to have.

But do not fret, it is temporary.

When one loses their connection to the Force, one does not lose their sensitivity to it. The Jedi's technique merely deafens one to the Force's voice. By connecting yourself to another, your inner ear is reopened to the Force's voice. In time, you will learn to hear again, and then your connection to your partner will be severed: your personal connection to the Force reestablished.

There are ways to expedite this process, but, now, I have run out of time.

My final gift to you will be the secrets to building a holocron—such as this one—so that you may preserve what you have learned...

This is the end of the transcript.

Intent

This artifact is meant to tie into the story surrounding the Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Solum. During the Battle of Coruscant, Solum lost her connection to the Force as a result of Jedi techniques. A roleplay—between the Dark Lord (@Prudence) and her apprentice (my character)—is currently being conducted to restore her back to the Force, and this artifact is the primary vehicle of that restoration.

Would a similar process be able to turn an unaware force sensitive to the dark side?
