Dathomir

Dathomir was in upheaval. Renfry knew that there were foreigners being brought here for some time, but this most recent batch was something else. Attempting to scry precisely what was going on with this new group had been difficult, but Renfry finally felt like her hand was being forced. She had enough sense to be wary of confronting the Forgotten directly, but these who had come here were in a unique position. The Spirits demanded action.

She took deep breaths to calm herself before calling on the Shadow. Green "flames" consumed her and she vanished only to reappear in front of those who had opted not to drink from the Well as they stood on the top of the cliff among the hovels.

If you want to save your friends, come with me, she said. She didn't offer any explanation, and though she was obviously not a ghost, she was clearly of the same people group as the Forgotten.

She said nothing else as she immediately headed off to the far side of the door to the temple. A narrow - very narrow - path along the side of the cliff forced the newcomers to press their backs to the cliff and edge around the corner, leading to another side of the cliff and the temple.

After a short time, they would find that they were on another cliff. It was broader than the path they had just taken, but still much smaller and more obscure than the main entrance to the temple.

I can make you a path into the tomb, but you must be ready to fight, she said. Are you ready? she asked.

The voices, gunfire, and other noises came together in a sort of symphony, which the Zeltron listened to through the comfort of her stretcher. With eyes closed still, Kori only had her ears and the Force to perceive the world around her. By themselves, the conversations and comms made no sense, especially the fragments of military gibberish nearby. But that didn't matter. For a moment the Jedi almost managed to perceive all those events as something more than a sum of the world's parts. The Zeltron felt that she was on the verge of something that would allow her to see the world through the eyes of a Jedi Master. The answer was so close...

But gunfire very close by, and a familiar voice shouting "Hey! Sector ranger! Drop your weapons!" pulled Kori away from the bigger picture and into the there and then. Brown eyes wide open again, the wounded Jedi found herself lying on a stretcher. She'd try to touch her cheek, but then realized that both her hands held to something. One hand lied firm on the lightsaber hilt, while the other rested on the heavy stun pistol. Good, he left it... Wait, wasn't it the ranger's voice shouting at someone?

After holstering the stun pistol, Kori tried to lift herself up, finding it harder than on an average Monday morning without caf. To make things worse, the stretcher rattled treacherously, alerting the medic and the CorSec officer nearby. The former clearly wouldn't let their charge off the hook that easily, as evidenced by the quick and stern "Hey, where do you think you're going?"

"I'll be fine... You need to take care of the others," the woman spoke with some effort, fighting the numbness of her face. At the same time, she waved her hand softly at both people near her. Blasted sedatives... The practice of mind trick on multiple occasions would pay off, at least as far as the medical specialist was concerned. Even while disconcerted, Kori managed to squeeze "Fine... Take care..." out of that particular medic. Hopefully, the officer too, but that remained to be seen.

If unopposed, the Zeltron would reach the edge of the cover groggily. Her body might have been sedated, but the mind could put two and two together. If snipers were a threat, she wouldn't just stumble out in the open. Instead, she'd try to weather off the chemicals in her body and regain her spry state. As much as it was possible, given the circumstances. Only after that would she dare to leave cover again, and follow into Darmus's footsteps from cover to cover. Of course, it meant that she'd be late to whatever mess the Sector Ranger had thrown himself in. He'd have to do without her for a while longer.

The message pinged over for her, and she scowled in puzzlement, amber eyes flashing. What the hell did that even mean? And who was Blue? "Naxa," she pinged over privately to the droid, grunting as she carefully picked up the limp Amaran as best as she could. "Maintain a careful eye on evac support. No attacking unless they begin assault on survivors. Be careful and maintain safe distance," and clicked off. She trusted the combat droid and his capabilities, but she didn't trust anyone else yet.

She couldn't explain it, but she didn't feel safe. Likely wouldn't until every last person was in an emergency transport and in a medical suite for examination. She also heard through relayed comms that one of CorSec's own was the gunship whaling on the station and reducing it to further rubble. She had right to some skepticism. Gathering up her bag, she only relinquished the stabilized Amaran when Daria wordlessly scooped her up and limped on, carrying her herself, and Ilana nodded once in appreciation.

Glancing at the Ranger medic Falynn, she nodded once.
"Stay at the rear; in case there's any enemies aboveground, I'd feel safer if you maintained as a medic. Same with you," she addressed Bast (@Kestrel ), "I trust your skill. I don't think we're home free yet." The medical bag was slung over her good shoulder, and she gripped her blaster tightly in her good hand.

Just in case.

With all the wounded and dying, moving up the rear entrance would prove an arduous task. But she maintained at the head, throat thick. She had caught the female Ranger's cry of agony when Corran went unconscious; she felt the same sound herself, a shattering agony in her chest, locked away. Waiting to be released only when alone, when she could scream herself. But not yet. There was no luxury of that for her yet. She had to be strong. Had to be. Even if it felt like a vibroknife in her chest.

A voice pinged back to the CHDF marines, raspy and low.
"Affiliate here, identify yourselves. Severely wounded and dying approaching, in need of immediate unimpeded evac and emergency vehicles."

Two more vehicles approached close to where they would wait, universal medical symbols in full display. They just had to wait for the survivors of the assault to come aboveground.

Perhaps soon they would be able to escort Corran to safety. That was her biggest concern now. She would protect him personally until she felt safe enough to let him out of her sight. Until she knew there would be nothing else she could do. She needed to do this; ever since Starfall, she knew.

She wouldn't lose him too, not the way she lost Kai. Hopefully, they could get out soon. But even she knew it would be foolish to hope.

She waited until the kid patched her up, sucking in a hissed breath in between her teeth at the agonizing clarity that removing the debris and cleaning out the wounds would bring. But she wouldn't scream once. Her jaw tightened, the tendons in her neck visible with the strain, and eyes squeezed shut as huffed breaths seethed between teeth and out of flared nostrils, only groaning once when the final bandage would be tied up. She felt sick to her stomach, head swimming for a moment while she caught her bearings again. When she did, she would shuffle upright, then glare at the corpse.

"Right. Let's see what this ugly mother-karkin--- ARGH!"

She belted out a disgusted yelp as the corpse thing moved, immediately switching from her stun blaster to her rifle, not set on stun, and began to fire, until black eyes dropped to blankness again, until it flopped back down. Heart thundering in her ears, leaning hard against the wall, she felt herself breathing heavy, hands numb and eyes wide. When her voice came up again, it was hoarse, rough.

"Stupid karkin' Sith, don't you have any damn sense to stay dead?!" she bit out, aiming one last shot into its' dead head.

"Kark," she uttered again, shaking. "I hate those bloody things."

Only remembering she wasn't alone. Turning her head to the kid, a harsh scowl painted her features.
"Kid, you alright? We gotta get outta here before they leave us behind."

She'd heard the message, but she didn't feel easy about this. Something was wrong. Something felt terribly wrong. She just didn't know how to explain it.

Stupid Sith, ruining her day. She spat once at the corpse, then switched off the rifle, slinging it over her shoulder once more to half-limp, half-drag her wounded leg behind her in a painfully awkward hop towards the hole that was once the doorway... but then she glanced towards the hard drives still left behind.

"Can't leave those behind," she muttered to herself, then sighed. "Help me out here, Aran. The Sith were so damn keen on gettin' these things, we can't let 'em have easy pickings." So saying, she began to remove it, sweat popping down her brow as she put them in her carisak.

Now it would be time to move on. But lastly...

She picked up the Sith lightsaber as well. Hell, she heard one of their own got a Sith lightsaber, and this one almost had her last living day stamped on it. Kark yeah she was takin' it with her. But now it was time to get out.

Hearing that they were going to get some answers to questions they all had was good - Max had been brimming with questions even before he drank and the monks had only been a minimal amount of help. Well, minimal was if he was being especially generous. They had been cryptic to the point of being assholes.

He got it; he hadn't been on board with their program at the time.

No excuse to be a dick about it in his book.

Setting his lightsaber aside for now, Max eyed the room, wandering around it slowly. He circled the sarcophagus and The Forgotten who sat upon it as though it were a throne. The story she was spinning was nice enough - a certain part of him believed it but there was still a larger part of that same whole that demanded answers.

"And what is the Entity?"
he asked her bluntly, "What have I pledged myself to fight that can threaten all of existence?"

Reasonable questions he thought.

"How do we defeat it?"

Her aim was true more so than anticipated. Minerva grinned at the rancor’s pain. It quickly transformed into worry as the beast in the midst of its torment began to stomp on the ground. The Mandalorian jumped out of the way as one foot slammed into the spot where she had just stood.

Rolling to the side she looked up, ready to shoot for the other eye out. Yet to her surprise the bull rancor collapsed on its back shaking the ground. For a moment Minerva just sat there, examining the now dead monster. A noble kill. Just the thought of this accomplishment swelled her soul with pride.

I’m applying for a rancor’s signet once this madness is over.

Subsequently the floor shook once more. Turning around Minerva saw Nara jump off from her beastly opponent, slain by lightsaber through the brain. Then without warning the adrenaline wore off and the pain increased as she sat amongst crushed bones, gritting her teeth more and more. The Jedi rushed over to her side, causing the armored warrior to tense up.

When Nara told her to stay still, Minerva titled her helmeted head in puzzlement. Before she could demand an answer it came as the knight closed her eyes and took a deep breath. In that very moment, Minerva felt the agony lessened somewhat.

Immediately the merc realized what just happened and sighed. On one hand she felt shame that the force was used to heal her though on the other did Nara did just help. Reluctantly Minerva gave a nod, silently expressing her gratitude and...some newfound respect.

Once the Jedi asked her question, she answered. “I believe so. C'mon let’s get going.” Saying Minerva stood up, retriving her fallen blaster rifle. Then taking one of Nara’s hands she flew them out of the pit though with difficulty and a bit of pain.

Minutes later they descended onto the floor outside the left door.

Tending to the angry old lady was something that kept his hands busy to stop them from shaking - it also had the added benefit of being a good thing to do. She was clearly a Ranger and she was clearly in pain - he had the kit on hand to fix her up to the point that she wasn't going to die and he'd taken enough first aid lessons to, you know, not suck at it.

He wasn't ever gonna be a surgeon but who would want that anyway?

Of course then the old lady shot at the corpse, which he hadn't actually seen move. He'd been turned away from it so all he saw was Vera yelp, pull her rifle around and pulp a corpse. Crix cursed, jumping away from her and the mutilated body.

"Feckin' hells you old buzzard!"
he shouted, gritting his teeth, "Why the feck are ye shooting up corpses?!"

Seriously.

Kark today.

"I just killed like, three fecking guys and an old lady blew up a corpse."
he grimaced, "I'm feckin' fine and dandy as you'd expect. Crazy crone..."

Instead of helping her with the removal of the drives he let her collect them as he exposed some of the wiring from outside the room. When she had collected them he fired his stun blaster into the wires he'd exposed, frying them and causing a surge to run through the wires into the terminals and remaining drives, shocking them and breaking them beyond use. The Rangers would have back ups even if the drives the old lady had didn't amount to a hill of beans.

"If they want them, they can spend the next month doing techie work on their corpses."
he declared, shaking slightly as he started stomping off, "Come on grandma - while I'm still young let's get the hells outta here."

Izel nodded back to her apprentice before he left. She worried for him, but there wasn't much she could do. Their mission needed to be accomplished, and time was of the essence. She felt confident he would rise to the occasion. Of course, that didn't mean she was just going to sit around and wait for him to do all the work. The Vratix took a deep breath and centered herself, beginning to meditate.

Despite the great darkness pervading this place she was able to focus her thoughts. Slowly her wounds began to close up, though there was only so much damage she could repair on her own. It would take many days to get back to full strength. For now, she was doing only what was necessary to get her up and moving again.

While she healed herself a part of her focus remained on her Padawan, following him into the next room. Thankfully he wasn't that far. She could sense another presence in the room as well. Faint and weak. Not a Sith then, though they carried enough pain and misery to be of the dark side. Taking a deep breath she spoke through the Force, trying to connect with Isen. "We haven't much time..." She warned him. Even now she could feel other presences elsewhere in the tunnels. Dark and powerful, and growing closer. "If they can move, take them... If they can't... Make your questions quick..." She desperately wanted to be in there, but her wounds still ached terrible and only grew worse when she tried to move. For the moment she focused all her energy on the healing process.

Maeve stood silently as the rest made their choice to leave, she could feel the unease settle as the door the temple closed, the monks no longer stirring. Her own discomfort also settled, she did not feel the urgency to defend against the Jedi, though the part of her that was still in control did not like the connection she felt with the others in the room. Turning, another door had opened and Maeve couldn't help the grumble under her breath for the games the undead enjoyed playing. Though, she followed the others, entering the room where the spirit had entered, now seated upon a tomb as she gave them permission to ask questions.

The elder Jedi asked his questions, quickly searching for the solution. What Maeve was dreading was for the spirit to explain this, their servitude in this tomb would be the solution.

"Those monks, did they drink also?" she questioned, side-eyeing the Jedi in his eagerness to solve the problem he saw, not necessarily the problem the Spirit or the dark woman saw. "Do they give their power to protect Dathomir? Is that where we are to wait?" Maeve asked.

The young Jedi sighed softly at the spirit's response. Honestly it was about what he'd expected, but that didn't make it better. "I regret your choice," he said impassively as the spirit slipped through the closed doorway, though he was looking at Max as he said it.

"It's time to go, Helen," he said in response to the little Lepi in agreement with Roland. The situation as it stood was disadvantageous needlessly risky. Not to mention the small horde of innocent people forced to serve a cryptic spirit. Indy said some stuff to Max as Hannibal turned to leave, but he didn't really feel the need to press his point. At least not until Max responded himself.

The young Jedi turned in the doorway to look back at Max, an impish glint in his bright green eyes and a grin sliding across his face. "Oh yeah, Nash was all for the forced enslavement and destruction of innocent lives. You sure knew her best, Max. I'm sure she's very proud of you and your new master," he countered sardonically. "Oh, and Max. Prepare for unforeseen consequences."

Hannibal gave a friendly little smile that did not at all match the dangerous look that crossed his eyes for a moment, then he turned to leave before the throng of monks got uppity. He stepped outside, the door closing behind him as he was the last. The storm was still going. Fantastic. "This planet is such complete and utter bullsh-" His gaze turned to look at a space in front of them, a young woman appearing in a flash of green. This planet just keeps getting worse and worse all the time.

She offered a chance to save the others. Hannibal blinked, tilting his head slightly as if listening for a moment, then moved to follow her. His instincts led him, and he trusted the Force more than he trusted words, so he'd go along with it, though keeping an eye on both the young woman and the others if they joined him. Falling on the narrow path would be bad.

Hannibal looked around the new, smaller cliff. Of course there was a back door, there was always a back door. At the young woman's question he reached up to unclasp his poncho, folding it relatively neatly and tossing it atop a nearby rock. He unclipped his original lightsaber from his belt with his left hand, checked his shoto, blaster, and vibroknife were firmly in place, and then turned back to look at the young woman.

"I do seem to be. You have my thanks," he said, a small smile on his face. He turned to look at those who had followed him to see if they were ready as well.

Salek ran back through the main sewer tunnel, mind scanning out for anything to help. The sewers weren't well maintained, but they weren't completely decrepit either. Between his bad vision and his rush, he couldn't spot any nooks or rubble piles that would realistically hide him. Then he came upon the dead Gamorreans. There was still enough life in their fading cells that he spotted them easily.

The Jedi dropped into a slide near the biggest concentration of chopped-up bodies and Force-pulled them over on top of him. The cauterized wounds made them smell disturbingly delicious, but he didn't have time to be weirded out by that thought. He lay still beneath the bodies and tried to breathe as quietly as he could, listening and peering through the Force to try and find any pursuers.

He'd lost his lightsaber. Three Sith - three! - and he'd just walked right up to them like a moron. He wanted to thrash himself for his stupidity, he wanted to strangle Tavano for giving him a fake bomb, but he couldn't yet. Force users would pick up on those emotions like bloodhounds. He tucked the anger away for later, giving it a quiet place in the very back of his thoughts. For now, he had to survive.

He pulled out his comm. They tended to be loud, but he turned its volume all the way down and stuck the speaker against his ear. "Tavano," he whispered quietly into it.

"You know how I feel about being called that," his Master's flat voice responded.

"Yes I do," Salek replied in the exact same tone.

"Hm. What's your status?"

"Dying, thank you for asking. I'm in the sewers, not sure where."

"Don't worry, your tracker's working fine," Lentus said. "I'm almost docked and ready to unload passengers, then I'll be back to pick you up. Get anything useful?"

"Working on it," Salek felt the growl in his voice. "Don't take the scenic route."

He switched the comm off and slid back out from under the pig pile. The tunnels behind him had felt clear, inside the walls and out. If any Sith were coming after him, they were good enough that it wouldn't matter if he was hiding, and he'd rather not be stabbed while cowering under a bunch of dead bodies. Besides, the first creatures had found tunnel entrances, and he got the feeling they wouldn't stop when their free meal began shrieking.

He was stuck between two bad options. One way, a mob of bloodthirsty killers. The other way, a trio of bloodthirsty killers. But at least the second option had the potential for allies, not just a lonely struggle against a flood of angry claws and clubs.

Salek started back toward the Sith lair at a jog, footsteps as quiet as he could make them. He pulled in his Force presence until he could only see a tight bubble around him and a dozen meters ahead, hoping that it would be a small enough signature that the Sith wouldn't pick up on it. When he got to the tunnel's original three-way branch, he could feel life signs approaching from the left.

When Nara and Minerva exited the tunnel, they saw the blind Jedi from before. His armor and clothes were scorched in several places, and he was covered in ashy soot and bodily fluids. He gave them a shy wave and gestured them to duck down and be silent.

"Center tunnel," he whispered. "Evil lair. Three Sith at least. Two are heavily armed. And we have to hurry, the infected are closing in fast."

As it turned out, the Jedi couldn't handle both keeping a hold on his lightsaber and dealing with the masked Sith's lightning. Paying little attention to the Jedi's attack and Jerex's defense, he deftly caught the Jedi's weapon in his left hand, briefly examining it while the Jedi fled. Wolfgang had little interest in the Jedi himself. He placed the hilt in a rear belt pouch when the the other two began speaking.

Wolfgang turned his head to look at them, the pale gentleman and the masked man. They definitely fit the bill, and based on the verbiage of the pale one it was his lab. How interesting. Wolfgang chose to interpret what he said as a friendly suggestion as opposed to orders to obey and turned back toward the lab, long-striding his way through the doors. A flick of his hand and the Force triggered the console, opening the doors to the inside once again.

"Certainly. That would be a shame, wouldn't it?" he replied conversationally as he departed, leaving the folding chair behind. There would be time for questions later, he supposed. The rats in the maze needed to be dealt with first, and Wolfgang's entire reason for being here would be rather pointless if the pale man's work was lost to the invaders.

Wolfgang returned swiftly to the inside of the lab and quickly located the glass case of carbonite-cooled vials. He went through the procedures to cycle out the carbonite gas and transferred the vials to a secure, small, metal-coated travel case that would keep them cool for the trip. It would take a little time, but Wolfgang would be quick about it if not hasty. He valued the vials more than the few extra seconds the other two Sith might be at risk. The scientist behind it was valuable as well, but only as a convenience. Wolfgang would happily leave with the vials and without their creator if that was necessary.

When he was done he removed his medkit from its belt pouch and replaced it with the case of vials, secreted safely away, and began to head back to the other two Sith. That blind Jedi had been a fool, but there were doubtless other Jedi around, and Wolfgang knew well the saying about birds and feathers.

Oooh, she was gonna kick Max and Felix's asses as soon as she could figure out a karking way to get in there! She huffed, jaw gritting in frustration as the doors shut behind them, then began to pace, face taut and golden eyes withdrawn.

In fact, if anyone looked, the faintest sheen glinted in them, as though she were holding back tears. But no, she wouldn't shed any damn tears over those idiots. She was gonna save them, one way or anoth--

at the appearance of the new arrival (@Phoenix ), she whipped out her lightsaber, prepared to activate it in case it was a monk or someone else. At the young woman's words, she frowned, about to retort, but she was already moving on---and so was Hannibal?
"Hans?" she spoke up quietly, eyes wide. Watching him walk off... she glanced at Roland in disbelief, then huffed and threw up her hands.

"Why not! It's not like I can go anywhere anyways," she muttered, and scooted alongside Hannibal. Then glanced over to the Mandalorian. "If anyone else drinks the spook juice or if I lose my senses, please for love of the Force knock me unconscious." But once at the ledge, she was asked if she was ready to fight.

She frowned, holding her lightsaber in one hand, and the comforting weight of her blaster on her hip.

"I'm ready," she muttered, golden eyes glittering.

Hang on Max, Felix, and Extra Crispy.

I'm coming in there to kick some sense back into you. Just like I promised.

The angelic looking woman was right. There was no choice but to move. Every move she made had a graceful energy, a tension and urgency that seemed almost inhuman. A single nod indicated Bast’s agreement. Gesturing for Falynn to take care of the smaller, foxlike alien, she tucked her forearms under Corran’s shoulders. As gently as possible, she lifted the limp man as far off the cold ground as she could. They needed a stretcher, but for the time being his legs would have to drag through the debris and grime.

The words of the medic over the comm felt like a punch to the gut. “Severely wounded and dying”. From her position, she could not check her partner’s pulse. A sudden wave of nausea overcame the woman and it took everything she had to avoid wretching. Bast had never been squeamish, but things had changed since Outpost Blue. She was more prone to instability, to fits of panic. Moving out the door, the Corellian woman turned her head away as a tear she did not have a free hand to wipe away slipped down her cheek. The sunlight seemed farther away than the Outer Rim.

Looking to the silver haired woman, she swallowed. “Where to?”

Renfry knew that their success was a long shot, and yet something told her that there was more to this than simple odds. A stirring below the surface of the world, perhaps an echo of the Spirits and their Will. She begun to understand that nothing in the galaxy was simple, and even the smallest shift could change the flow of history.

She looked back at those who had chosen to follow and then reached out a hand to the stone. A rumbling from within the face of the cliff could be heard and then a portion of the wall shattered, breaking outward and revealing a creature that it was unlikely anyone would have seen before. It was like a worm, chewing through the earth and creating tunnels through the mountain. She reached out her hand, calling on her connection to the creatures of his world and it set off into the mountain once more, creating a tunnel for the foreigners to follow back to the chamber that contained the sarcophagus and those who had recently drunk.

I cannot go with you. You will only have one opportunity. You must sever her physical connection to this world, she said. She offered no further explanation before vanishing once again in a flash of green.

The Forgotten looked first to Max who spoke first. She made no attempt to hide the truth from her children any longer. They were not a threat to Dathomir any longer.

It is... the Entity. It's not so simple to describe. It is darkness and hunger. It would consume all if it could. And there is no defeating it. Dathomir's power keeps it at bay, she said.

She turned next to Maeve as she asked if the others had drank, and she nodded.

They drank also, she said. It is... but before she could finish speaking, a rumbling above and to her left drew her attention. She realized a moment too late what was happening.

The worm - for that was the closest description to what it was - burst into the room from above, dropping down to crush anyone who didn't move aside. It landed on the sarcophagus, shattering the upper half of the stone to reveal the body inside. It was old and decayed, but it still seemed to pulse in the Force as if some powerful connection still linked it to the Force.

With a cry of rage, the Forgotten lifted up the creature and rent it in two, creating a gory mess as she cast both portions to the side of the room. Her eyes quickly swept up to the tunnel where the others would be emerging. They would have only moments to act before her rage came to rest upon them fully.

Just... The Entity?

He didn't like the sound of that - both because it sounded ominous but also because it sounded like they didn't actually know much about it. Names meant a great deal and showcased just how much was known and how much was merely guessed at. With a name like The Entity? Sounded like an awful lot of guesswork.

Guesswork when saving the Galaxy was just not good enough but... still there was... there was just something that made him incapable of disagreeing. It was actually clearly defined, that there was something holding him back from disagreeing and that same thing was stopping him from getting truly upset about the fact that it was stopping him from disagreeing.

Such a curious little system.

Of course the worm-thing bursting out of the wall was enough to break his train of thought and Max launched himself away from it's impact site with the Force, landing further away from the sarcophagus and from the tunnel the worm had formed. His lightsaber rested firmly in his right hand but he didn't ignite it.

With the beast killed, he wanted to make sure what happened next was something he should interfere with.

As Malleus departed from the inside of the structure and back to the top of the cliff outside he was somewhat relieved that the hooded monk figures didn't attempt to engage him in any way, who knows what other dangers could lay hidden in this wretched place. However he was still not gonna let his guard down, hand held closely near the hilt hanging from his belt. A sudden flash of green light appeared before him and before the being (@Renfry ) could even manifest fully the Zabrak's weapon was already ignited and pointed towards the now visible Dathomirian. She spoke with haste and reserved panic and though her words and behavior didn't telegraph any intent of malice toward Malleus the Zabrak still eyed her from across his crimson blade pointed at her. ''If you want to save your friends come with me ?'' he almost chuckled at the remark as the woman distanced herself seemingly guiding the others that chose to leave elsewhere.

Malleus waited for them to get out of sight before retracting his blade and made his way towards the cliff he climbed on earlier to get to this cursed spot. He sure as hell wasn't gonna die here for no cause nor will he let some wretched witch or a ghost of one mind control him. If the Jedi and Maeve are foolish enough to do so then be it, his plans however changed. Malleus planned to get back to his ship and then, if the Jedi survived, he'd wait for them on their descend down and pick them off while they were still drained and weak from whatever would transpire here.

The two soldiers @Mara Kensei was fighting turned toward her as she rolled past them, the male soldier drawing his pistol up into a proper close stance in front of his face now that his other hand was unoccupied. Mara's jab was quick, but she had made an incorrect assumption about the soldiers' training. The female soldier faded back slightly and took a half step back to avoid the jab, her pistol firing downwards toward Mara's midsection as the punch came in.

When Mara dropped low and went for the male soldier's knee, he turned into the attack, the same leg flicked up in a sharp shin kick toward her elbow, changing her attack into one of his own that could well break the joint. Assuming Mara still rolled away, both soldiers would fire once each mid-roll at her back while Mara was completely undefended, couldn't maneuver, and wasn't looking at them. If Mara made it back to her feet they'd track her with their pistols, aiming it at her but not yet firing.
Darmus nodded in reply and headed out towards the building they had seen a Jedi enter, but as he made his approach going from cover to cover and carefully looking around his attention was immediately stolen by a scuffle to his right. Two soldiers fired near point-black shots at an unarmed woman. "Hey!" the aged ranger shouted just as the defenseless woman tried to roll away from the soldiers. "Sector Ranger!" Instinctively he stayed near cover at about twenty feet away, aiming his own pistol at the pair. "Drop your weapons!"

If they tried to continue their attack on the woman (@Phantom), Darmus would fire quick shots towards their torso's, the man first and then the woman, but he remained within a sidestep distance from cover. Due to the woman rolling away from Darmus he was standing behind the pair, forcing them to choose between him and their intended victim. As usual he had decided to announce himself instead of planting stun bolts in their backs at the get go, something that might turn come to hurt him later.

Mara was cursing under her breath as she struggled to stand, she was getting absolutely beat up here. She had her good arm raised, as the male soldier's kick had landed and dislocated the joint in her other arm. The bad arm was covering the wound from the blaster shot on her midsection, while she was still wincing from the wounds on her back. Her demeanor has now changed for confident and cocky to a more regretful expression of, 'Oh Shit.' Mara let out a sigh, choosing to stand down, and let the Force infuse her body and slowly begin healing her wounds, or at least soothe the pain until she could find a medic, because the dislocation would probably require too much energy to heal at the moment.

Then, she was rescued? There was a voice from behind the soldiers, telling them to drop their weapons. A Sector Ranger? This might actually be a good thing. If the soldiers chose to turn towards the voice, then Mara would drop her good hand to the pistol on her hip, not drawing it, but having it ready.

There were so many wounded, so many dying. It bordered on overwhelming, yet this is what Falynn had spent years training for. She watched as other medical personnel streamed into the basement area bringing in equipment to transfer the injured. Their hurried movement only added to the urgency of the situation.

Falynn nodded in respect of the doctor’s decision and gathered her medical supplies. If the medic had been in her position, she knew without a doubt that her response would have been the same. Soon after Falynn spoke to Ilana, her comm buzzed as a message came through. Hopefully that meant help was on its way. It would be a good thing too because moving the injured to transports would be nearly impossible if they were unable to leave the relative safety of the building.

As they prepared to evacuate, Falynn helped in whatever way she could while keeping a watchful eye to ensure no one was left behind. Bast had lifted Corran from the ground as he and the other injured were moved onto stretchers. The Amaran had been taken by another medic with an insignia on her coat that matched the doctor’s. Turning to look in front, Falynn saw Bast’s expression as the detective turned her head away. Though hard to read, there was an unmistakable flash of fear that passed over her features. With the cumulation of events, the medic could take an educated guess as to what had been the cause. She wordlessly placed a gentle hand on Bast’s shoulder to provide a sense of stability before moving to the back. The rate they advanced up the rear entrance seemed agonizing slow when there were lives on the line. Time was of the essence, but the safety of everyone was her first priority.
