Jedi master Huang Karasu stood in the training ring. The fluorescant light carried the cold light around the featureless room, illuminating the striking figure of the Jedi Council member. The light played over the facial piercings, the skin staples up the forearm, and the black snaking tatoos, diapperaing under hi vest at the shoulders. His eyes glowed slightly, though the lighting reduced this to nothing. He was waiting for Galykia, a new Jedi padawan to train.

Galykia walked in the plain room silently and nervously. He noticed the jedi who was put in charge of training him. He started to wonder who he was and what he was like. Was he layed back or does he do every little thing by the book. No matter what he was like, he knew his training would be tough and a great challenge. As Galykia approached the Jedi he extended his hand for a hand shake, he greeted himself.

''Padawan Galykia.'' Huang placed a stave in the outstretched palm, misinterpreting it. ''You will learn from me, become a knight, and pass your knowledge to others. Now, first. Fight me.'' Huang brought up his own stave, battle ready.

Galykia was surprised that they were going to already practice actual combat. He expected something more passive and calm. Galykia took the stave from Huang. The weight of it was much lighter than he predicted. Next he took a defensive stance waiting for the attack. Galykia preferred to wait for the first attack and then plan how to proceed based on his enemies style.

Waiting for a superior enemy. Mistake. Huang stepped in, the stave twisting, and disarming the padawan. ''If you know your enemy is superior, do not give them the advantage of fisrst strike. It could be fatal. Attack me.'' Huang resumed his stance.

Galykia did as told and swung the staff toward the right side and then the left side of his enemy. He focused and cleared his mind.

The boy did not take well to attack. Huang knocked the blade aside, no effort shown. ''Put more effort in! Try to outthink me! Come on!'' Huang swung the stave in a complex pattern, returning to a simple stance.

Galykia continued to focus his thoughts even more. He then took a quick step to his left while attacking on the opposite side. Hopefully the fast step would make the jedi ready a block on that side. He put all his strength into the attack waiting to see what happens next.

Simple misdirection. At least he was thinking. The attack was deflected, Master Huang's feet and arms moving in two totally different patterns, style and form utterly unknowable. A sharp hit on the wrist of the padawan. ''Good idea. More complex.''

Galykia raised his weapon again and thought how he could proceed with another attack. His last one obviously didnt work. This time around he kicked his shoe straight up high in the air in hopes to distract the jedi. While the shoe traveled upwards toward the ceiling he made a stabbing motion to his opponets stomach and then a swing at the head.

Huang's eyes flicked up for an instant. Only an instant. Galykia's attack reached much closer than any of his others. Misdirection. Good. He kept stabbing at the padwan's defences, wanting now to see how the boy acted when forced to defend himself.

Galykia swiped away the Jedi's counter attacks just quick enough to avoid being hit. He proceeded to attack with an upward swing followed by an attack to the right then left side.

The feint was batted away, and Huang pressed the attack, not allowing the boy to do anything but defend. He had to be pushed tot he limit of his skill, so that Huang would see how good the boy was.

Galykia focused on the attacks thrown at him. He blocked a few with ease, but his average reflexs made it hard to block the other ferocious attacks. Almost every attack nearly hit him directly. Two or three knicked him in nonvital locations. Rather than continue to block he took a step back to get ot of range of his opponent in order to take a breathe, relax and focus. After a moment to prepare he took a step forward and started a swing at the Jedi's feet.

Huang moved with the boy. He didn't have as much breathing room as he thought, the attacks pressing on him, speed and complexity increasing. Huang had a look of emotionlessness on his face, no obvious sign of effort, as, in truth, though the moves would seem complex to a regular swordsman, the Jedi master spent a huge portion of his time training.

Galykia continued to avoid and block as many attacks as he possibly could. His constant effort and struggle made sweat form and slowly fall. His muscles were tense and he could no longer keep up. Eventually one of Huang's swipes connected with Galykia's shoulder and then another at the knees. He fell in pain, excrutiating and unbearable pain. He tightly clenched his jaw to try and ease some of the pain. He took hold of his light weapon and attacked his opponets shin before he stood up in a fighting stance. The pain continued to make ache and lose some focus. He then began to throw a flurry of attacks from all angles.

Huahg sighed. The boy paniced when he tired, throwing useless attacks. He batted him aside, picking up the two weapons. ''I presume that before me, you studied the basic concepts of the lightsabre forms. Which of these do you wish to learn?''

I would wish to learn Niman, like my father used and was taught. He said while holding in the pain. He was begining to tire, he never fought anyone of this skill before.

''Very well.''

Niman, the 'jack of all trades' of lightsabre forms. No obvious strengths or weaknesses. Easy to teach. Huang showed the boy the 'resting stance'. Simple, feet spread, lightsabre ignited pointed at the enemy's throat, handle of the sabre down at the waist, a fist away from the body.

Yes, sir. Galykia spread his feet comfortably and also allowing great balance. He then took hold of his fathers lightsaber and took a deep breathe before igniting it for the first time. Out shot a glowing green lightsaber. He slowly moved his fist slowly out from his body while pointing the weapon up at his masters neck. He awaited further instructions.
