Sith Lore
Fire has long had an association with Darkness, Evil and The Sith, some however find it strange as fire can be used for good as well as evil, can begin rebirth as well as destroy, can cauterise darkness from light and though many argue its benefits, the masses still associate this primal force with one of destruction and pain. It is then perhaps fitting that upon the Ancient home of the Sith were once a lonely female Jedi Knight struck down a King, that a pit of unending fire burns. A place of such destruction that it appears that even the planet itself has given up on it for nothing lives around it and even The Force has forsaken this place.
Far to the North beyond all known civilisation lies a hole, that from the days of Kind Adas and Andraste has been ablaze, the Gate of Fire, Crater of Flames, Sidious' Hole to name but a few of its many names is a natural phenomena that to any man, women, Jedi or Sith there is no explanation. Rumours of an ancient force nexus, deep and dark Dathomir Magick, natural retribution against the Sith and many more circle the craters long history. Though the only thing known for certain is that it has burned for millennia and that something is hidden beneath the flames.
Description
The Gate of Fire is a giant crater situated near the magnetic North Pole of Korriban, measuring around one hundred and ten meters in in diameter and at least fifty meters in depth. Since earliest records of Korriban the crater has been there and has been on fire, not once has it been recorded to have gone out and not once has any record listed anyone surviving its burning embrace. Though records are facts, facts can never be taken upon face value and records can always be changed.
Though your brain says listen to the facts, your heart will tell you to listen to the rumours and everywhere you look, be its beginning, its purpose or its end a hundred rumours circulate about the Gate of Fire and a hundred more will come tomorrow. Some say it is the very place were Andraste struck down King Adas and that in that mighty struggle of Dark Side energy the planets crust erupted in celebration of her victory and has burned every day awaiting her arrival once more. Others that it hides a secret cave network, created by one that came even before the Empress of the Sith and that hidden in its depths are deep and dark secrets that should be hidden from even the mightiest of Sith Lords less they unleash its power upon the galaxy. Rumours of a doorway to an ancient world set outside the boundaries of time and space, a Superweapon gone wrong, an asteroid strike and many others fill the ears of anyone who would listen.
Though since the Sith's return interest within its secrets has once again reached the ears of learned and powerful individuals and as the galaxy as moved forward through time, so has technology with it and those in high places, with much to hide and little to gain from leaked secrets have found that not is all as it appears beneath the Gate of Fire. The only question is someone brave, or stupid, or strong, or foolish enough to brave the gate and embrace the flames.
Intent
To create a new local on the planet of Korriban that is not your usual dark and murky tombs. I also have plans for the location as either a location of a Lore article yet to be written or a larger plot device if people wish.
