Well, my friends, with the coming time-skip, time grows short.

I'm afraid that my character will not be able to function well as an independent faction. (?) I will probably be joining the Hutt Cartel, maybe as a special Chiss/scientist/manipulative/generally evil guy.

Unless of course, you guys can persuade me not to.

The only thing I'm concerned about is that there will be no more cool battles that I was able to take part in as a Chiss and as a member of a "major" faction. I feel that as a member of an "independent," we will be largely ignored.

I would like some more info about how the time-skip is going to go down, though. :CCry2

There there Ender. You will probably get a lot of action as an Indie faction. organizations like the church of nothing and what not have a lot going on. I think some people put up a suggestion to let indie factions have more involvement but I'm not sure where that went. I will assume it was shot down

Yeah. That's what I'm afraid of. As an independent, we will be completely ignored and not invited to participate in anymore battles or anything.

But I'll probably just join the Hutts either way. My char is basically a criminal now...:GL

That's up to how the indie faction RPs. We've had indie factions in major battles before. It's up to the indie faction to get to the level where they could be in one.

How would one do that? Just get a whole ton of people?

Usually if there are large scale battles they are split into small scenes with equal ammounts of people from each side

Indi factions have had major impacts on the site through history- from the first timeline to a extent and most noticeably the last timeline we had an indi faction rise to actually be more powerful and influential than several of the main factions for a time, and even played a major role while participated in a large scale battle! Size is one factor that can help but it's not the sole factor in the success or interactions an indi faction has. How they govern, and assert themselves more times than not is the biggest factor in how they will be reacted to and what they are involved with.

so ultimately there is nothing holding back an indi faction beyond how they handle themselves and the choices they make.

The Retrade is one Indie example I think. They have influence in each of the major factions, ICly speaking.

With regards to the Retrade, I think they also played a part in the Mandalorian and Sith conquest of the Core. They helped the Mandos out in one of the battles, IIRC. That's also another way to participate too, allying with major factions.

One term I'd throw out there as something to avoid is "self-fulfilling prophecy." That term means that you've convinced yourself that something is going to happen and then it does happen, mainly because you told yourself it would. In the case of indies, if you start out thinking you're never going to do anything in the main storyline, then you're never going to do anything in the main storyline.

The Church is still active, I retired Aegrum because the other Altar members vanished...maybe I should hit up Den.

O, rite, I completely forgot about the Church. Maybe I'll finally rewrite Genesis.

and it's up to the management to make sure the framework for them to do so is in place!

see!

It's everybody's and nobody's fault at the same time.
