BIOGRAPHY
Gram was born the son of Morgan and Patricia Van Alasdaire, immigrant farmers from the New Vahla colony who now resided on Sulon. Growing up on a local farm, the young boy quickly became adept at reprogramming and repairing the working droids. After learning about his parent’s death at the hands of one of said malfunctioning security droids, he enlisted as a member of the Sorosub Research and Development team.

His race marked him apart from his fellow peers, taking on new responsibilities and leaving his old life behind. He served for a number of his teenage years as a Lieutenant, being deployed on exploratory vessels with the intent to find conventional locations in the Unknown Regions. The purpose of these ventures was to establish a rudimentary framework for refueling stations.

During this time, Gram’s latent Force-sensitivity began to reveal itself, showing him a brief premonition that saved the lives of his peers, avoiding a head on collision with a nearby asteroid. Though he saved the crew initially, the resulting damage to the hyperdrive sent them abandoned to the deep reaches of space, Gram and his flight searched desperately for anyone alive in the deep void, seeking aide with distress beacons and vain flare of plasma.

His suspicions regarding his own abilities where confirmed when a lone outpost replied to their distress. Their freighter landed, and the flight was quickly boarded and overcome by the forces therein. Though his flight died, throughout variety of vicious and inhuman means, Gram managed to make a convincing argument for his survival - having for the first time aggressively and instinctively using the Force against his captors. His time spent as a prisoner still weighs in his mind, and the choices he made to survive has resulted in a severely damaged psyche.

As a result, he was given a choice. Live as a newly minted member of the Eternal, or die a forgotten casualty in the darkness of the void. Choosing to survive and learn, the Vahla threw himself into his studies of the Force and the Dark Side, fueled by a fervent will to live, and thrive. Gone was the boy named Gram, as Gale the Marauder took his place.

But the damage done by his training at the hands of the Sith proved too much for his mind to bear. With madness slowly whittling away at his sanity, Gale has taken to avoiding the Darkness within him and seeking help to control this ailing disease. With the loss of his limbs at the hands of Darth Ceryx and her companion, Gale rejected his Sith past completely and reclaiming his identity and ancestral lineage as Gram Van Alasdaire.
Skills
Gram excelled at droid craft even at a young age, learning droidspeak and basic as his first languages. He went on to learn a variety of trade tongues in SoroSuub, as well as piloting and basic defense training. After completing basic training, he went on to receive additional piloting and ordinance training. As a Lieutenant, his responsibilities had included economy, morale, and logistics.

Under the Sith Eternal’s tutelage, he quickly learned the concepts and tenants of the Dark Side of the Force, adopting his Overseer’s view of controlling passion and fate, lest it control you. The result was a raw and powerful, yet tamed warrior, capable within the maelstrom of mystic veils. His lightsaber form was also taken from his Overseer, a practitioner of a style similar to Djem So, following basic core tenets of Form V. Gale was considered a capable and somewhat unstoppable foe in combat, using the Force to bolster him through injury and amplify his abilities.

Personality wise, Gram is outspoken and just. Respectful, as in a former airman nature, he is commonly seen to have a sly yet tactful attitude, unafraid to quip and taunt his opponents and close friends all the same. Gale did not believe in the Force - a force of Life, temporary and fleeting. He utilized the Dark, pure chaos and destruction, the rising swell at the end of life. His indifference to his fellow Legionnaires was also notable. As Gram, he has come to recognize the Sith for the threat they posed to his family and the Galaxy at large.

Since his hesitation to touch the Dark, he has begun to adopt a more neutral view - having rejected his former knowledge and accepted the Force as a universal constant of balance. He is known to be charismatic when placed in leadership positions, and has shown a deep amount of care for the well-being of others, even at the cost of himself.
Abilities

Note: Purely for flavor. This is supposed to mimic MOBA abilities, the format inspired by tabletop spell cards. Makes no difference in any thread beyond an explanation.

Ultimate - Smoke and Mirrors (Active//Passive)

Gram projects his force aura superimposed over the physical plain, manifesting itself by altering his surroundings with illusions, guile and subterfuge.

This mastery of alteration allows him to attack both physically and through the Force in tandem. It is a Gaes that allows him intense power for short durations - it cannot be used overlong.

Requires Focus to cast and utilize. Duration: 4 Posting Rounds (Maximum/Lethal)

Saber Forms - Constant Motion // Passive

Utilizing his inane knowledge of blade on blade combat, Gram can seamlessly switch between Heima Lachna, Shien, Djem So and Soresu. Rapid modification of techniques exists to confuse and gain an advantage over unwary opponents.

Requires Focus to Cast. Duration: All Rounds

Ability 1 - Taser Fist

Gram extends the Force through his limbs, an element of choice. Utilized for prolonged combat situations, or for hand to hand, close quarter engagements.

On command. Requires Stamina. Duration: 2 Posting Rounds

Ability 2 - Zen Tulpa Foci // Passive

Gram is in the zone, feeling the vibe and riding the wave of the moment. His ability to enjoy life allows him to harness his inner zen, able to call upon it readily. Helps with mental acuity and stamina.

Requires Focus to Cast. Duration: 5 Rounds

Ability 3 - Born Telepyrotic

Gram is Vahla. Though a race known for its sorcery, hot temperament and unforgiving biology - Gram is blessed with the grace of tropical winds. Though naturally attuned to fire, wind and telekinesis are his primary passion.

Requires Focus to Cast. Duration: Two Rounds
Equipment
Armor: + Ember Paladin Armor
Melee: + Unstable Green Lightsaber
Purified Lightsaber Staff
Loadout: + DL-44 Blaster Pistol // A180 Blaster Rifle // Frag Grenade Bolas

The Sith Eternal didn't have a military, they only recently former the Sith Order. So much of his history doesn't work. Is the Sovereign Protectors something you made up? First I'm reading about them.

@Wit I assumed the Legions of Lettow would have at least some form of military organization and structure. If not, I’ll change it to a local militia.

Sovereign Protectors appear both in Canon (TRoS) and in Legends (Crimson Empire) as Royal or Honor Guards. I imagine the title still exists as a guardsman among the Sith Eternal, as I understand it they are also distant remnants of the Final Order.

They were a completely secret organization, with no actual military. Same goes for guardsmen, I don't think any existed within the Eternal. The mods reviewing would be able to give a more concrete take on the matter, but from the write-up and past reviews of other characters there was no military nor anything resembling the Sovereign Protectors.

Perhaps I shall submit a write up for them, or it is simply a title this character has taken. I will see about editing the military aspect, but overall I see no reason the core aspects of this character’s history wouldn’t work. Details, however, will be modified as requested.

@Aurius

Good evening!

So for starters, there are some aspects of the character history that don't fit with the history of t he Sith Eternal. I recommend taking a look at the write up available here and get a feel for the origins of the faction. Wit is correct in stating that there was no organized military among the Sith as they were cultists.

Please take a look at the history of the Sith Eternal and see how you can better incorporate the faction story into the character.

Also, you'll need to change the name from Kyle Katarn.

This is the SECOND Kyle character to be criticized by the mod team in less than 24 hours. I'm beginning to see the start of a pattern here.

See this thread for reference.

Technically, canon or legends names require prior administrative approval. Since I don’t have that (see my spoiler, I expected as much) I will change the name from Kyle to simply Gale.

Keep in mind this profile was an attempt at smashing Legends and Canon together with very little success. I fully expected to have to make edits.

@Rom I assume the name of Katarn in it’s entirety will also need to be changed? I already have an alternative, I’m just making sure. Editing through the profile to edit history and will tag when completed.

Please keep in mind that Gale’s military experience comes from planetary security forces, NOT the Sith Eternal. Hopefully that edit was noticed :)

@Rom In the vein of what I read (forgive me if this is totally off) I changed the militia Gale was enlisted in to a Expeditionary Force, making it so that he encountered the Eternal in the Unknown Regions after they captured his crew.

He lived because of his force-sensitivity and refusal to die. Hopefully that works :)

From what I read, Sullust, SoroSub, and what not are all manufacturing and production based in terms of economy. They don't have a
"Sullustan Expeditionary Force" as far as I can see. If this is just a flavor of a planetary defense force that's fine but most military forces in the wake of the Battle of Exegol demilitarized and so also wouldn't have an expidition force that was military based. If your character needs to have traveled to the Unknown Regions, I don't think a system based military force makes sense.

There are of course always private corporations and groups that are can fund such expeditions and numerous reasons why someone would find themselves in the Unknown Regions. These could be anything from a hyperdrive mishap in their backstory to being hired for an overfunded project that went bad.

Contemplate it a bit and let us know what you think. If the Unknown Regions poriton isn't as important there are multiple characters that can explain contacting the Sith Order (when it was still the Sith Eternal) in 'rims' of space that are more well known. The perk about the Sith Eternal formerly being a covert cult is that it could be anywhere.

Might I ask what one of these corporations might be, or does it come down to head-canon? I’m sorry I’m not as well versed in this area of the sequel trilogy.

I envisioned the expeditionary force to be more of a discovery team than an actual military branch. Kinda like how the National Guard and Coast Guard are “Military” in rank and file only, officially being reserved and called in as a very last resort for actual combat purposes. However, I’ll change it to a placeholder private corps unless there is a specific one that works for this idea.

a hyperspace malfunction will also work nicely so I’ll add that in momentarily.

Here's a link to the canon page for SoroSuub. Sorry, should have had that in my previous message. National Guard and Coast Gaurd are portions of the Military but also don't explore. They patrol and protect threats that happen near home turf. Expeditionary forces usually refers to traveling to another location and fighting there.

I understand what you probably meant originally and I think to prevent confusion you may just want to say it was like some "Research & Development" department rather than a "force" since that implies military strength and associations. The only question at that point would by "why were the R&D team looking in the Unknown Regions for stuff to research and develop?" As long as that can be answered (unless you want to go with hyperspace mishap or something else) I think you should be good.

@Darasuum Been a while, but I updated the thing to change off and make the defense force the SoroSuub Research and Development team. They went to the unknown regions to build or locate a framework of refueling stations, hyperdrive malfunction.
