While the Jedi shuttle landed in the spaceport of the capital city of Genassa, Vand calmly read his holobook about the history of the planet. Or at least he tried, since Sunir Vaalan was fussing over him as if he was a baby. The Chagriam had been recently Knighted and he was already insecure about going on a field mission with Padawans. It became even worse when he was informed that one of them had Congenital hyperinsulinism.

To be honest, Sunir never heard about this condition. He had to search for it in the Holonet. What he discovered made the Chagriam enter in panic, because he had no idea how to deal with someone like that. The Knight could have decided to not bring the half-Nagai with him, but he felt bad about doing it.

"Are you fine?" Vaalan said for the ninth time since the ship had landed. Vand merely nodded, trying to continue reading unfazed. However, the strengthening of his grip in the datapad showed that he was losing his patience. If he was asked another time, the half-Nagai would scream.

"Ok! Let's review the mission." smiled nervously, now looking at the two Padawans. "We are going to meet with the President of Genassa to discuss the possibility of their world becoming affiliated with the Jedi Order. It'll be a simple diplomatic mission, nothing dangerous will happen." he said more in an attempt to calm himself rather than the teenagers.

"So, any questions?" he asked, his fingers moving nervously in his hand. Vand remained in silence, he already had enough information. The half-Nagai would leave the Padawan next to him to ask anything that she wanted.

Vida didn't say much on the flight to Genassa; she often paused her music to listen to the Knight question her fellow padawan peer about how he was feeling. He seemed really nervous; she was also nervous, but not nearly in comparison to the knight who was supposed to be leading them on this mission. Vida kept her earbuds in, green eyes flickering between Vand and Sunir, who reviewed their their plan, which seemed simple enough. She had not tried her hand in diplomacy yet, in the sense of high class impressionism, but she figured it couldn't be too different from dealing with the crime lords of the several factions of the syndicate. At least with politicians, she didn't have to worry about Preef shooting them from the shadows.

The knight asked if they had any questions and the girls' eyes flickered to Vand, seeing if he would speak first, but seeing he didn't, she took out her ear bud, "Can I fly the ship back to the temple when we're done?" she asked.

Regardless of the answer, she jumped up from her seat, pocketing her earbuds and nalphone. She was able to find some different robes, finding the traditional brown ones itchy and unflattering. It may had taken some extra work and sewing on her end, but she was satisfied with the results.

When the shuttle landed, Vida followed the others off the ship, waiting to see where they would meet the Genassa president.

Err…” Sunir trailed off, not sure of how to answer the girl’s question. He wasn’t sure if Vida was being serious or if it was a joke. The Knight didn't even know if she was old enough to pilot the ship. “Maybe? We need to see how old you are.” the Chagrian said, his voice full of nervousness.

While this exchange happened, Vand continued reading his book. However, he still had paid attention to what the other two Jedi were saying. He contemplated if Sunir would really let Vida pilot, without even knowing if she could do well. These Knights are becoming more and more like irresponsible Padawans. he thought, while moving a page.

Okay. We are going now.” Sunir moved toward the exit of the ship, expecting that the Padawans would follow him. Once outside, they would be able to see the vast crop fields that Genassa was famous for. It started behind the spaceport where they were and extended toward the horizon, giving an idyllic aspect to the landscape.

The tree Jedi would walk through the building, since a representative of the President would be waiting for them outside. While they walked, Vand pulled two candies out of his pocket and turned to Vida. “Do you want one?” he asked, before putting the other inside his mouth. Now he could stay some time without sugar

Once they reached outside, they would see a female M’shinn with his body covered by moss in the place of fur. “Welcome to Genassa, Jedi. I’m Secretary Tarluun, President Marmosy had sent me to guide you to her office.” she gestured to the speeder that was behind her.

Vida was uncertain about this knight, not in that he wasn't a legit jedi, but he seemed so uncertain of himself, she was worried about if anything did go wrong, what would he do? Her first thought was of course, abandoning her and the other padawan to save his own skin. Regardless, she followed behind the knight as they were greeted by a representative to the president. She glanced to Vand who offered her a piece of candy and she took it, but didn't eat it immediately, mouthing to him 'thanks'.

The girl climbed into the speeder with the others, quietly judging their choice of rides to pick them up. It was more for looks than for anything else. The speeder was popular with those who wanted to flaunt crowns, not necessarily a sense of function. She had no clue about this world if she was honest with herself; she would have to question how this would help the jedi order, but she guessed that is why they would leave the knight to do the talking.

Her green eyes flickered to Secretary Tarluun, unfamiliar with the M'shinn species. Though what she did know, the species looked soft enough to use as a pillow.

Vand simply nodded for Vida’s thanks. His mouth was full with his candy and the half-Nagai had learned since he was a child that talking with his mouth full was impolite and gross. The last thing that he should do was to cause a bad impression to the Order’s possible new allies.

Without any doubt Knight Sunir would have a stroke if it happened. The Chagrian was already a nervous wreck. If something bad really happened, Vand was sure that they would need to carry the older Jedi back to Ithor because he had a breakdown.

Thank you, Secretary! It’s an honor to be here!” Sunir said, while shaking Tarluum’s hand. “I’m Jedi Knight Sunir Vaalan and these are Padawans Vandirak Hastakor and Vida Harp.” the half-Nagai groaned when he heard his full first name being said. It made both the M’shinn and the Chagrian to stare at him in confusion.

It’s also a pleasure to have the Jedi Order in Genassa. Please, follow me.” the Secretary said, before entering the speeder. Surprisingly, it had large glass windows, probably the largest that the half-Nagai ever saw in such a vehicle. However, what really surprised him wasn’t it, but the fact that Tarluum seemed to be in a hurry, having nearly jumped inside the transport.

Once the speeder started to move, it would take a street that would cross the grain fields. The large windows would allow them to see how big they were. The opportunity of having access to so much food was one of the reasons why the Order wanted to ally with the M’shiin.

While the vehicle moved, Sunir talked with Tarluum, leaving the Padawans to do what they wanted. Vand had returned to his reading, but if Vida talked with him, the pale boy would stop and have a conversation.

Vida kept quiet, bowing her head when the knight mentioned her name to the official who would be taking them to meet with the president. She popped her earbuds back in, music quietly running through her head as she tried to keep some interest on what they were discussing, as well as what was happening outside the speeder and as well as what the other padawan was doing as he too sat quietly with his nose in the book.

She starred for a while at the title across the book, trying to decipher the letters and at least come up with a word. It was always so tedious, but at least it killed the boredom that was this ride to their rendezvous point. She could have always just asked the padawan, but there was a piece of her ego that wanted to figure it out for herself. Besides, whatever it was, looked terribly boring and she was never sure about those who just could sit there for hours and hours doing something.

The girl turned her attention back to the window then back to the Knight and leaned back, unable to contain herself when she blurted out, "Why did we have to go to a port so far from where we are meeting?" she asked.

While he was reading, Vand noticed that Vida would look at his book for some moments. The half-Nagai wondered how long it would take for the girl to ask him about what he was reading. If she didn’t do it herself, the pale boy wasn’t going to say anything. He didn’t care if she remained quiet looking at it, her silence allowed him to read in peace.

When Vida decided to say something, it caused different reactions of every being inside the speeder. Tarluum was confused, not understanding why the girl seemed to be complaining about the trip since the endless fields outside the vehicle were beautiful in her opinion. Sunir was horrified with what he considered to be bad behavior on her part in front of one of their hosts. If there was a hole in the ground, the Chagrian would have jumped here to never return.

Meanwhile, Vand only discreetly smirked, while he continued looking at his book. He shared with the girl the same feeling of boredom, but at least reading was maintaining him distracted. If he wasn’t with his datapad, the half-Nagai probably would have made a similar comment. This trip seemed to be taking an eternity.

P-Padawan! It wasn’t something to say in front of our hosts!” Sunir said exasperatedly, he was obviously afraid that Tarluum would get mad because of it. However, the Secretary had remained in silence, still confused with the fact that someone was bored near so many beautiful crops. Vand thought that the Knight’s reaction was exaggerated. “You need to have more patience.” he turned to point at a tower-like structure that was appearing in front of them. “Look, we are already arriving.

Indeed, it wouldn't take much time for them to arrive at the building. This meant that their mission was going to officially start. Sadly for Vand, he would need to stop reading and join in conversations.

Vida's eyes widened slightly from the Knight's reaction, scolding her in his shock and surprise. The girl was just as surprised, she spoke only what everyone was thinking, though their liaison seemed be in disbelief to her observation. She turned her gaze to follow Sunir's pointing, seeing the tower. Her brow furrowed, trying to decide if she should say something else, but remained quiet instead and leaned back in her seat.

When the speeder landed, she took out both of her earbuds and pocketed them. She was nearly jumping out of the speeder when the doors opened, feeling a bout of restlessness kick in as she leaned forward on her toes, stretching her legs. She looked to their Knight to lead them to where they would meet with the president.

Once the speeder stopped in front of the building, Tarluum was the first to leave it. Sunir followed her and he expected the Padawans to do the same. The Chagrian still didn’t recover from the faux pas that Vida had committed. Since the Secretary had remained in silence, he believed that she could be mad with them.

When he left the vehicle, Vand was able to have a better view of the building. The place reminded him of a tower, but the architecture didn’t seem to match the M’shiin. This species was famous for liking nature, so a place made of durasteel wasn’t what he expected to see. Even less an entire town made of it.

I thought that they lived in huts made of grass.” the half-Nagai muttered to Vida. While it wasn’t loud enough for Tarluum to hear, Sunir could. The Knight turned immediately, looking at the Padawan with frustration. He was starting to regret having brought these rude children.

With all of them outside the vehicle, Tarluum would walk inside the building. It was full of other M’shiin working with the administration of the planet. “Please, follow me. The President is waiting for you in her room.” Tarluum said, while guiding the Jedi toward an elevator. “Her officer is on the last floor, so it’ll take some minutes.

Vida's eyes widened with amusement as Vand mentioned something about the inhabitants living in huts and she returned a look to him that spoke thats-what-I-thought-too. The padawan followed behind, seeming ever more bored of this diplomacy mission; there had to be something to this long drawn-out entrance to see the President. She preferred to get to work immediately instead of jacking around with high-class chit-chat, when really, did they care what the Jedi think? They were not aligned before so what opportunity would this get them?

The questions floated through the padawan's head, her own steps slowed when they entered the hall toward the elevator, pausing eventually to watch out the window for a moment at the greenery of the planet. It reminded her of Ithor, she was too used to the city life. She looked over her shoulder to see how far the Knight and the Liaison had gotten before starting to trail behind them again. If Vand would turn to see where she had gone, the girl flicked her head to the side, pointing to an adjacent hall where she begun to slip away as the Knight and Tarlump reached the elevator.

Vand smiled briefly to Vida, having understood that the girl shared his opinion about the M’shiin inhabiting huts. In his opinion, it was the perfect way to live more connected with nature, which was something that this species cherished so much. It seemed that ecological concerns ended when the desire for civilized comfort began.

Before they reached the elevator, Tarluum and Sunir started a conversation about the production of food in Genassa. While the Secretary seemed to be excited with it, the Chagrian was only trying to distract her from the Padawans. He feared that they could say something impolite that could ruin this diplomatic mission.

By this point Vand was totally ignoring the two adults, having put on earphones. Since he couldn’t read his books, the half-Nagai decided to listen to some podcasts. While it wasn’t the same, at least hearing people talking about interesting subjects would satisfy his curiosity for a time.

It was by chance that the half-Nagai turned to look at Vida and saw her walking toward another hall. He frowned in confusion, not understanding why the girl was doing it. The mission was that they should help Sunir with his diplomatic talks and not walk around aimlessly.

He was going to warn the Champalan that Vida left, having even removed his earphones before calling him. However, after hearing how tedious the Knight’s conversation was, the half-Nagai shrugged and went after the girl.
