CHARACTER CREATION GUIDE

Welcome to the character creation guide. Before you read further, please check out the Beginner's Guide to SWRP first if you haven't already, as this guide is an extension to it. This guide includes the basics of character creation, which means the rank and level your character starts off at, the appropriate gear for a new character and other information you'll need to know.

It is very important to browse the Factions and Organizations forums to learn about your options. The main factions your character can join are: the Jedi Order, Sith Empire, Republic and the Hutt Cartel. However, there are many other PC and NPC factions as well.

Biography and personalty sections in profiles require a minimum of 50 words each. You can find a very basic character template in the Default Character Sheet Template thread.

All characters start at level one. Level one Force sensitives have limited control over the Force, and level one non-Force sensitives have limited combat abilities. They have no reputation or influence. They cannot rule over anything or lead anything significant.

However, they may start with a small amount of assets such as a small business with a handful of NPCs, but one that has no reputation or significance. As characters level up, they earn reputation, and they can also earn influence and more assets through plots and bounties.

All level one characters—if they belong to a faction—start at the lowest PC rank. Lowest ranks for the main factions are: Sith Knight, Jedi Knight, Basadi, Junior Senator and Lieutenant. To learn more about faction ranks check out the Factions and Organizations forum. To learn more about levels check out the Roleplaying Rules.

We have an Approved Species List you can browse through, which also has a disallowed list. While the list is not comprehensive, it is fairly extensive.

New characters can start with one (1) main arm, two (2) side arms and one (1) melee, though there is the option to switch arms for melees. There is also the option to start off with grenades, but four (4) max. When it comes to ships and vehicles, characters may start off with one (1) each.

Jedi and Exile's can only start out with a maximum of two (2) lightsabers. Independent Force users cannot start with lightsabers, but they may acquire one through role play.

Characters cannot start off with any advanced technology. Advanced technology must be purchased with credits earned from bounties or be earned through plots.

All technology save for regular lightsabers need to be linked to write ups in the Technology forum.

You must create a sub account for your character. It is mandatory because character sub accounts function differently from main accounts (the account you signed up to the site with). The only way you can progress your characters is by posting with their sub accounts. They're the only accounts that can earn credits and be assigned ranks in factions. To learn about credits please read the Roleplay Rules thread.

NOTE: When you post in IC section you will notice a Storyteller account option. That account is ONLY for NPCing/DMing and nothing else.

Setting up sub accounts is quick and painless, don't worry.

1) Follow the link: http://www.thestarwarsrp.com/forum/index.php?account/sub-accounts Fill in the character name under "Create a sub-account"

4) Enter your OOC username, link to OOC username, and select a faction.

5) Wait for the site to apply the usergroup promotion. It can take up to 10 minutes.
Then you are done!

Q: Can I role play with my character before he or she is approved?
A: Yes you can role play with an unapproved character in everything but faction plots.
