d1ddbe7a-c619-4f84-9a86-7784fbe66f1d.jpeg

As rugged as the pact hard desert ground, and as solid as the glaciers of the poles. His strong face is dominated by a hard and broken (multiple times) nose. His cold, pale eyes seem to catch details and look into people. Dark hair is maintained at a practical length, in a slightly cropped short back and sides. Often seen in one of two flavours of dress. A turtle neck , a great goat with a wide lapel and grey trousers with hardy shoes. He could be spotted, if he messed up, in black work gear that consists of a utility vest and combat trousers, many a pocket for his working gear. Finally, in dire situations or on raids (so in dire situations), he wears Judiciary Armour.

The smile that has been known to break in a couple of instances is sometimes a snide sneer from the corner of his mouth, or a grin that causes his eyes to squint and many a laughter line to wrinkle all the more. This belies that while a gruff and hard upholder of the law, the Agent spends downtime well.

ATTRIBUTES:
STRENGTH: 5/10 - As strong as any hard-worker. Slightly toned, but a natural bulk.
DEXTERITY: 4/10 - Many knocks, scrapes and breaks have limited his speed and reaction. A wound in his abdomen, that he received in Brentaal's northern polar region, aches in the cold.
CONSTITUTION: 7/10 - These same knocks, bruises and a hard life chasing down debtors, thieves and racketeers has left Agent Haren being able to take more than the occasional blow.
INTELLIGENCE: 5/10 - Haren's mind is methodical. It is not brilliant, it is not sharp, but it isable to think like those he has had to hunt down, now those that he has to root out for the Republic.
WISDOM: 6/10 - The truth is in the details. Sharp eyes, that can find clues, see tells but he's not going to take these observations further without a think on it.
CHARISMA: 3/10 - Dealing with the scum of the Republic has left his patience thin and his tolerance for jokers even thinner.

PERSONALITY:

Gruff, rough, crass and appears to have his feelings on his sleeve, and his face, and his bearing. It takes a lot to find out what lies beyond this facade and second glance. Those that get passed these defenses find a doting son, a loyal partner or colleague and a simple man that appreciates the luxury of a day off, a cool breeze or the sun rising and waking you up as opposed to being up before it rises.

There is one line that you do not cross with Agent Haren, do not receive his trust and then throw it away or exploit him for it. Tales around the Judiciary departments say that he does not acknowledge the existence of those that have done so, and still find themselves able to work in the Department anymore.

Above most aspects of his personality, Ham is a worker. Objectives are met, people are hunted down and if he can help it, records are broken. A man that truly moves through life, viewing it all and then finding more and taking some along with him.

BIOGRAPHY:

A man from a broad church. His father works for the Commerce service as a guard and his mother owns a bar that is frequented by his father's entire branch. Not so much a police bar, but it bears a similar air. His grandfather was a corrupt Commerce service's guard officer and it appears that this hampered his father's career prospects. So he took his mother's name and enrolled in the service to prove the world, or the galaxy wrong.

But early life was filled with booze soaked sods, frequent 'visitors' for his mother's favour, and the nightly bust up as his father found them staring at her. Ham learned quickly when to leave the bar, and when he could sit in a booth and read from his dataslate or play a game of pazaak with some of the more calmer, and sedated patrons that were regulars because of their disposition to being regulars. Routine already dominated his life, even during his adolescence he found comfort that in this chaotic miasma of a world; he could sit down of an evening and play pazaak with the old ones.

Starting his life in the job market Haren was a recruited to the Commerce service as a Cadet and rapidly became marked for more by recruiters. Initial interviews showed him to be a firm believer in the House system, even though he did not originate in one. He learned this from his father, someone that had seen that the joy of life was not ascension but knowing how to enjoy each of life's littler moments. That being said, he eventually moved from a simple enforcer to a higher station within the Commerce service. Some say he was destined but the entrance exam for his commission was passed due to practice and study, not predetermined fate. The guard became an officer of guards. But desk work was never for him, he had to be on the hunt, he seemed to relish each collar; be it sneak thief or black market gangster.

His short stint as a guard officer saw him leading raids and the Commerce service began to pay attention; especially as the bills for damages to storehouses began to pile up. Becoming notorious for using battering rams, and in some cases vehicles, Ham Haren was a drain on the funds of the Commerce service. At this point, Haren was elected to join the Republic in a transfer program.

Haren saw this to be what it was, dismissal from the world. He resented the Brentaal system as it forced him from his family, but he balled up that resentment and buried it. He was now going to serve something greater. His father may have said that joy came from enjoying life's little moments, and that was fine; but you could do the same whilst striving for more.

Now serving as a Field Agent, Haren relishes the next assignment, his workman like approach and previous occupation will serve him well, but will he be able to develop the finesse required for the promotion that will keep him in the ranks of the Republic's finest.

ABILITIES:

Strength of the streets - Life in Brentaal is dominated by the Houses, the political machinations there in and this filters to the walkways between the storage warehouses and habitation blocks. All the while being driven to the shadow of the cooler shade. This causes conflict, fights and death. Haren lives in crowds, he is not hampered by moving through them, and his fighting technique was honed in the bars and darker places of this society. To say he learned some dirty tricks implies he knows how to fight fairly.

The long arm of the law - Hunting criminals leads to a few talents. Firstly, he knows his way around judicial processes. Paperwork was a necessary evil that he had to slay on a nightly basis. Secondly, he developed hunches. This was not a mark on his posture but if it was a room, a person or the case overall his gut instinct has been honed. Thirdly, fighting the bastards of this world left him with a want to use something in his hands, small arm or knife or blackjack. The scars on his hands show that he has been cut a handful of times.

The House's Watchdog - When on a trail of a target, Haren becomes hellbent. Mentally, emotionally and physically. Often he has been heard explaining it as living by 'your wits' but other say he devolves to an animalistic nature. Many a partner has said that they have experienced the 'fight time' experience with Ham Haren. When it goes down he seems to act swifter than a man of his bulk should, its as if time slows down for him, that he is perceiving it at another level.

Son of the tavern - His mother's job and his home was a bar. He had to rest at sometime in his life and when he did there was always a drink, a game of pazaak or a kind word in his ear. All dives are grittier, too clean or filled with scum but he seems to be able to get comfort from them and his tolerance for alcohol has been bred in, and he's been playing pazaak since he could read the cards.

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES:

A powerhouse - Within Haren there is the making of a boxer, a soldier, a fighter. Yet, he picked a lawman. He'd tell you that all the skills associate with the other potential careers open to him just didn't fit. He lived to help people, but he was born to survive. So he survives to help, he puts himself before others and the powerhouse of muscle and dogged determination certainly helps.

One of the last honest men - Whether because he is not nearly intelligent enough, or through a moral code, superiors think the former and those he lives with and work with and for seem to think the latter. He'd reply with "What's the point in lyin'?" However, Haren is not above being conservative with the truth, when it aids him.

Been through too much already - While some would say that he would not be the man he is today if it weren't for the things he'd done and seen... he would never have become the man he now is if he hadn't been through it all. While he has a calm head in a fight or a keen mind and sight for the details, he has been marked by what he's seen and done. Physically he has plenty of scars and chips. Mentally he has had trouble trusting anything and anyone that goes against his worn and cynical outlook on life. Emotional the man has all but died, his embers of love felt when he is close to his family; again physically or on a more metal level.

Your first link in "Never seen without one of these" doesn't link to anything, only to create a new thread. Is this intended?

Outside that small thing the character looks good.

Approved!!!
