Thena does all she can to live up to the image of the ideal Jedi she has built in her mind. Righteous, quick-thinking, wise enough to always be confident in one's own decisions--and strong enough with the Force to overcome any foe that may present itself and defend those too weak to defend themselves, among other traits.

She is far from her ideal, and there is no one harder on her for it than herself. Mistakes are never nearly as few as she demands, and she finds ways to punish herself for them--usually through training, to at least be productive at the same time. Driven by a need to keep innocents and loved ones safe, she can't help but desire the strength to be infallible. Failure terrifies her. Failure, in the wrong moment, leads to loss. To her, to fail in protecting lives is to fail as a Jedi. Due to this, despite holding the rank of one, she's terribly hesitant to speak aloud her position in the Order, not believing herself to have truly earned it yet.

It's safe to say she doesn't hold a very high opinion of herself, which she recognizes and does consider to be a problem--though one she plans to fix later, as for now it drives her hard to better herself. She works herself ragged for the sake of others, and in combination with her genuine desire to protect, and a quiet but warm personality, she tends to befriend those she views as decent people easily. Highly empathetic and considerate, it's hard to not be viewed as a decent person by her--and this is one of the roots of her silent questioning of the Jedi Order and how it is run. It deeply disturbs her to think about how her 'ideal Jedi' does not line up with the ideal Jedi of the Jedi Order. For many of the beings the Order claims to be enemies, she can't come to view them as such. Her default is to assume she's in the wrong... but she finds herself to be unable to fully accept that, despite how quick she is to admit fault in everything else she does.

To be considered a true enemy by Thena is a feat in and of itself. Heinous crimes committed, along with no hope of redemption--a monster fully deserving of being put to death. For such individuals, the young Jedi will fight against them with all her being, leading to moments of pure instinct in which she trusts herself more than her peers and superiors, in the terribly ambitious interest of protecting and saving everyone. She wants to be a hero, and nothing feels more validating to her than being recognized as such, whether it be due to something as significant as saving a planet, or as small as helping someone move a heavy object across a room.

Born within the Outer Rim on a small ship, Thena Solborne has never had a world to call home. Her father was an exiled Jedi, and her mother a once honest woman turned smuggler due to her relationship with Thena's father. Thena traveled the galaxy for her parent's 'work,' the only constant being the little ship that was the closest thing she had to a house. Sometimes, they'd stay on a planet for at least a few months, sometimes giving the young girl the chance to meet other people, which she enjoyed. The inevitable goodbyes, though, were always a cloud over her, but even those she became used to, as much as they still hurt.

As she aged, she began to slowly understand that her parents were criminals with many enemies and shady allies. Most of what they did was to keep her safe, and to give her as normal a life as possible, but their pasts wouldn't allow that in whole. Dark deeds bred dark deeds--the clearest example of which occurred when Thena was five years old. The girl was kidnapped by an influential bounty hunter and his gang who had had negative dealings with her parents years before her birth. In the ensuing conflict, Thena saw her father's darkness for the first time as he fought against and killed numerous hunters to save her. The whole ordeal was mentally scarring for the girl. The feeling of a blaster at her temple, the sight of her father cutting down men in terrifying rage, the screams of the dismembered and dying. She loved her father and mother to the ends of the galaxy, but something felt wrong after that. Something within her... permanently shifted out of place.

Thena now understood the danger she and her parents were in at all times. She understood that her parents were not wholly good people, and she wondered what that meant for herself--was she implicitly a monster due to her heritage? The constant fear and doubt in both herself and her parents began to weigh heavily on her, and she grew an unfortunate weariness even at such a young age.

Before her kidnapping, her father had simply helped her understand her Force sensitivity on rare occasions. After it, he began to train her more diligently, the reality that his lifestyle put her in constant danger fully setting in. From that time on, there was a small, irreparable schism between parents and child, to the sadness of the entire family, as it was understood by all that the five year old was being trained to be able to kill. Thena's father did what he could--he had always spoken of protecting her and her mother, and that was what he focused in on to persuade the girl. She was being taught by him to be able to protect herself, and even her parents if need be. Thena latched onto that idea--the thought of protecting her parents. It kept her going.

Thena's life changed drastically less than three years later. During a temporary stay on a sandy planet, the girl ran into a Jedi. Over the course of their interaction, the young Thena found herself telling the Jedi about her situation. It seemed to end at that, after some sage advice. Thena returned to her family's ship. For perhaps the first time, she was met by a betrayed look on her father's face, as his gaze looked past her. Shaken by the sight, she turned to see the Jedi she had spoken to, as well as several others, approaching. Realizing that in her naivety, she had led them to her parents, she began to break down, understanding her father's expression. Lightsabers were ignited, and she was taken by one of the Jedi and brought away, not allowed to witness the clash, though she felt the exact moment her father had been struck down.

The girl was in a daze for weeks as she was brought along with the Jedi. She was told she had been saved--that her parents had been evil people, and that they would find her a better life. And the girl began to believe it. The discovery of her strong connection with the force led to the decision to train her as a Jedi. Despite reservations, Thena did nothing to question it. She had never known a life without her parents, and there was nothing left for her. Soon enough, she began to throw herself into her training, solemn but determined. She convinced herself that her parents had to be stopped eventually--that that was the end they had chosen, along with the life they had chosen. Resentment grew towards them for it, the logic following then that they had chosen to leave their daughter. Painful thoughts, but Thena held onto them dearly, as she found they allowed her to move on. The girl found the ancient teachings of the Jedi to fit her morals well, and she grew into her new life well. Her previous training with her father along with her dedication allowed her to advance through the early teachings quickly.

A year passed, and at the age of nine, she met another Jedi trainee named Sylas. It began with a spar in which she lost. Both being similar in their quiet, more serious attitudes, she found herself willing to interact with him, more than with her other peers. It was through her relationship with him that she began to really recover from the loss of her parents, warming up to the new world around her and returning to her more kind nature, though of less words and more weary of the world than ever before.

Years more of tutelage went by, along with first missions and the reinvigoration of Thena's desire to protect. Though she had completely failed in doing so for her parents, she vowed to not fail again, for the truly good and innocent. Exhaustion was her normal state of being--rare were the moments that she stopped and just breathed. Due to such hard training, she became a warrior of impressive magnitude for her age, though she always found herself to be one step behind Sylas, to some playful frustration.

The boy grew to be her closest friend--considered even more important to her than her Master. When she found out he had lost his parents, she dropped everything she was doing to fly across star systems to see him. She did her best to comfort him, seeing his rage. Rage that scared her, and reminded her of her past. He had known that her parents were passed away, but she opened up further to him during this meeting. She told him everything about her father and mother, about the Jedi she had led to them, about the guilt she felt, and the anger she had held at the Jedi responsible, and that she still felt on occasion. She told him she understood how he felt, and that she wished herself she could see the bounty hunter dead for what he had done. But she asked of him, as disarmingly as she could manage, to not throw his life away as her father had.

Sylas listened, to her immense relief. Elated to have not lost her closest friend, she found herself wanting to spend even more time with him than before. She felt something more along with that, though she wasn't entirely sure what--only that it made her happy to speak with him. The happiness didn't last too long, however. Due to duties, the two parted again, and the next time the two saw each other upon Sylas' request. The secrecy of their meeting at the edges of a Jedi temple were worrying to her, and she soon found out the worry wasn't misplaced. Sylas told he he had killed the man who had been responsible for the death of his parents.

    And that he loved her.

Something inside Thena clicked, and with it came guilt most crushing since the loss of her own parents. In sorrow, she refused his request for her to join him, begging him once again to not throw his life away like her father had once done. The plea did not work this time, and Sylas left in that scary, hurtful anger, as she could only stand in a familiar daze, silently asking him to stay.

With that, Thena was left alone again. She blamed herself, realizing that telling Sylas of the Jedi who killed her parents likely helped push him to his decision. Worst of all, she couldn't bring herself to completely disagree with his actions, as much as she wanted to force herself to. There was anger at Sylas for leaving her, as there had been anger at her parents for the same, but she understood him far to wholly. She was a Jedi now. Such thoughts were wrong. The past was the past.

Thena continued her relentless training, bringing herself to collapsion often in an effort to self-punish for all she was guilty of. While keeping an ear to the ground for new concerning Sylas, she improved her skills as a warrior and defender of the good--though she could no longer remotely consider herself as part of that good. It didn't matter. She was a tool to protect, and would be until her end, however she met it.
