ONDERON
Afternoon

@FoxTamerAlexis ; @KinkyPrawn
[/fancybox2]

The universe was filled with planets of all ecosystems. Coming off the hot world of Ryloth, the young Twi'lek named Tann sailed for somewhere with more green. She settled on Onderon. Naturally she was a little disappointed upon finding after breaking atmo there wasn't nearly as much forest as she had anticipated. So Tann did the next best thing. After some calculated searching she found a city with a large park in its vicinity and she set her Starlight-class freighter at a nearby bay. After locking up the vessel and giving her droid instruction on her absence, she traveled into the city to find her miniature paradise.

It required two different turbo lifts to get her to the level she wanted but eventually Tann was surrounded by lush greens and peaceful winds that made her lekku sway back and forth. She followed the walking trail around the path over to a lake where upon looking at her reflection, she giggled at the fact she was nearly the same shade as the water. Her mother was a much darker color than she, being a deep blue; Tann never knew her father. She had been born with more green in her skin giving her a teal-like appearance. If not for her brown Twi'lek-fashioned clothing she likely would have blended right into the pond.

After several long moments of staring at the view in front of her, both of the water and of the lake ahead of her, Tann decided it was time to move on. She stood up and without looking behind her turned and walked right into someone behind her. She nearly fell over herself but managed to catch her balance. Having lekku was a godsend in situations like these. She often wondered how other species even walked without some form of balance.

"Oh my goodness!" the Twi'lek exclaimed in her Ryl accent. "Are you ok?"

Segri was looking for work. Apparently drinking and smoking became an expensive pastime when one didn't have an income. So she went where the descriptions and stories took her. In this case that was Onderon. She was taken back by the place when she broke atmosphere. It was a very beautiful planet. It wasn't covered in cities but it also wasn't a wasteland. She found herself being calmed by the sights. "I think this is going to be a fun trip." she said to her droid who beeped happily in response.

The ship touched down and Segri made her way to the ramp after checking her gear. The ramp opened and she disembarked, her droid locking up the ship shortly after like clockwork.

She decided to wander for a bit first, to enjoy the view before looking for work. At a vendor she bought a pack of cigarettes and a lighter, then made her way to the park. She kept a slow pace, not in any rush at all. A number of people had their eyes on her but she ignored it. She wasn't planning on having some nobodies ruining her day simply because she looked like she just crawled out of a slum. She was walking past a pond when she decided to light a cigarette. However just as she brought the lighter to her lips, someone crashed into her.

She stumbled back, her cigarette dropping from her mouth and on the road. Luckily it was still intact. "Hey, watch it twerp!" she scolded the kid as she bent over to retrieve her cigarette. The girl, a Twi'lek who looked like she was still supposed to be in school, asked if she was okay. She simply waved her off and popped the cigarette back in her mouth. "Yeah yeah, I'm fine! Just watch where you're going." she said irritably before taking a long drag and a deep breath. She looked back to the kid with a sneer. "Aren't you supposed to be in school or something? Move it." she said curtly before starting to walk past her.

Tann was just trying to do the right thing. She made a mistake, she tried to make up for it. There was no need to be rude. But as she looked over the person she knocked into it was clear she was not getting any forgiveness. The Zabrak was full of tattoos and dressed like she was....what did her mother call them? She forgot the word. Someone who gets paid to sell themselves. It didn't look like the girl was taking much care of herself anyways what with that death stick in her hands.

So maybe apologizing to this woman was a mistake. after all Now Tann felt like she was the one who was owed an apology. Putting her hands on her hips she leaned forward and snapped back, "Uh, Excuse you. I'm nineteen. And homeschooled for your information. Not all of us grew up in systems with public universities. Besides," Tann brought her arms up and crossed them, "I happen to be a mechanic. I don't need some fancy tutor to teach me useless schutta I'll never use a day in my life. "

She was just about ready to turn the other way but she wanted to make sure this punk kept on moving. Though she figured after calling her out like that the girl would probably have some more to say...

The girl's attitude certainly stopped Segri from walking off. She eyed her as she kept throwing lip at her. She took a long drag of her cigarette and blew the smoke in the girl's face. "You keep running your mouth at me, kid, then you'll need a fancy tutor to help walk properly again." she threatened her coldly, taking a step closer to get right in her face. "Now watch it, kid." she finished, then shoved past her to keep walking. "Thanks for ruining the day as well." she grumbled as she walked, shoving her hands into her pockets.

Her day had just turned sour. Even her cigarette tasted horrible now. She stopped by a trash can and threw the cigarette into it with a sigh. "Bloody kid." she muttered, defeat in her voice. She was simply enjoying the new planet and the looks. Now it was all down the drain. Cooling off, she also started to feel bad. The kid wasn't looking for trouble at all.

She turned to look behind her, trying to see if the kid were still there. She had half a mind to go back and apologise, but at the same time she doubted it would be worth the trouble.

Her heart got the better of her and she decided to go back and apologise to her. She started to walk back where she came from, looking for the Twi'lek girl. She couldn't have gotten too far...

The smoke was just unnecessary. Tann coughed and tried to fan the cloud away while her eyes burned. The Zabrak punk kept on threatening the Twi'lek, turning Tann's own words back against her. She kept on coughing as her new enemy got in her face and shoved her aside. Tann stumbled but didn't trip.

As the Zabrak started walking off thinking she had the last word, Tann would call over to her and sarcastically shout, "Yeah? Well, you're welcome!" If the least she could do was ruin this girl's day then fine. She deserved it. She certainly ruined Tann's day. That was for sure.

With a huff and a grunt, Tann turned away from her nemesis and walked a different way than where she had originally intended on going. She didn't want to even cross paths with the Zabrak. Hell, she'd be happy if she never saw her again. As her legs carried her away she felt a strange sort of tug in her spirits. Something calling her, calming her down. It wasn't the first time something like this happened, so it wasn't too foreign to her. All at once Tann's anger subsided and she remembered why she'd come here.

"Calm down, Tann. It's just another rude customer. You have no idea what kind of day she's having. Just let her go. You'll never have to see her again. Just forget it."

Tann hadn't gotten more than twenty feet from her confrontation, so it would be easy for Segri to find her. It wasn't like there were a lot of teal skinned Twi'leks running about either. She was standing on the path looking up at the sky and talking to herself when Segri would then notice her. And for whatever reason, Tann looked back the way she came and saw Segri just the same. Almost as if she knew she was there looking for her.

With a groan and an annoyed tone she called out to the Zabrak, "Oh now what? You come back to threaten me some more? Because I'm not in the mood."

She caught up to her quickly enough, though the reception was enough to already want to turn back around. "Oh get off my case, will you?" she said as she walked up to her. She came to a halt in front of her and ran a hand through her dreadlocks. "I just want to say I'm sorry, alright? I overreacted." she blurted out with a sigh. "So, uhhh...sorry...for all that." she continued rather awkwardly.

She glanced at her then looked away. "Well...see you around, kid." she sighed once more and turned to leave. It was horribly awkward, no doubt about it. If she had to do something like that again, she was liable to shoot herself. But oddly enough, she felt a little lighter. With a deep breath a small smile crept onto her lips as she reached for a new cigarette. She doubted very much that she'd meet the girl again, but to her the gesture meant a lot.

She briefly glanced behind her before finding a spot next to the pond to lean against. With a long drag of the cigarette she sighed and let the smoke out through her nose.

Get off her case? Who did this girl think she was? She was the one who blew a freaking smoke cloud into her face. Tann tried to apologize on her part, and see where that got her? She certainly wasn't about to lay back and take it. Yet, when she sighed and admitted that she overreacted, it threw Tann for a loop. She even said she was sorry, twice. Tann had no idea how to react to that. She was quite literally speechless.

"I uh.........."

In her awkward position Tann finally saw the girl underneath all that attitude. For the briefest of moments she could almost see what Segri had been threw. Intuition? Something else? But she empathized with the Zabrak in ways she couldn't explain. But she didn't get a chance to say anything as Segri turned to leave, obviously in a hurry to get out of this situation. She stood there dazed still as Segri walked off and after another moment of looking totally dumbfounded she came back to reality and followed her this time.

"I forgive you..." Tann said gently so as not to sneak up behind her.

Tann was bent at the waist leaning to her left like she was trying to approach some wild beast. Her arms were behind her back with her hands clasped together hoping to subconsciously be smaller than the girl so as not to appear as a threat. She gave a friendly half-smile as she scooted a little closer. It looked almost like she was afraid the ground would fall right out from under her feet with the way she was walking.

Coming up beside her Tann held out her arm meaning to shake hands, "Can we just start this whole thing over? I'm Tann. It means Hope to my people."

To Segri's surprise, the girl followed after her. She looked up from her cigarette through her dreadlocks at the girl as she approached and came to stand next to her. She extended her hand and Segri hesitated for a moment, before reaching out and giving her hand a firm shake. "Segri...I don't think it means anything." she chuckled before taking another drag, blowing the smoke in the opposite direction.

"So Tann, what are you doing on Onderon? You don't exactly look like a local." she asked her calmly as she looked back at her. She brushed her locks out of her face and leaned more against the rail, resting a foot against it as well. She fished out her packet and offered a cigarette to her, unsure whether she smoked at all. Her guess was that she didn't, but it was still a kind gesture to make in her opinion. "Want one?" she asked her calmly as she held one out to her.

Giving her a warm smile, Tann giggled to Segri's mini joke. After giving her a firm shake of her hand she retreated a step so the smoke wouldn't follow her and returned her hands to the position behind her back. Segri asked what she was doing, mentioning the obvious point of her not being a local.

With a humored giggle she asked rhetorically, "Is it that obvious?" Another small chuckle of laughter and then Tann looked around her like she was taking in the sights. "I'm not really doing...anything. To be honest. You could say I'm on vacation. Or maybe a life journey."

Segri would then ask her if she wanted one of her cigarettes causing Tann to pause and look at it. Part of her wanted to reach for it, just to see what it was like. But her instincts told her otherwise so she politely smiled and shook her head. "I probably shouldn't. But uh, thank you. Anyways...where was I?" she paused again and pursed her lips in thought.

"Oh yeah! My journey. I've never gotten to travel before. I've been on Ryloth all of my life. This is my first time off world. I saved up some of my earnings and bought a ship...now I'm just out seeing what the 'verse can offer me. I really wanted to take in all the sights, ya know? Before my credits run dry."

Tann laughed at her little story even though the concept of being broke was nothing to laugh at. She then turned her head to the other side and asked, "How 'bout you? You from around here?"

She started her story, but stopped to politely refuse Segri's offer. She shrugged and stuck the cigarette behind her ear while continuing with her current one. She listened to the girl's story as she kept going, raising an eyebrow as she mentioned going on until she was broke. "Just make sure you leave enough creds to make the trip back home. Otherwise you might be in for an extended stay." she calmly warned her as she flicked the bud away.

She turned the question on the Zabrak, who simply blinked in surprise. "Oh hell no." she quickly said with a chuckle. "Not even close, I'm from Coruscant. I'm currently looking for work. Heard that Onderon had a few good opportunities." she explained before looking behind her at the beautiful lake for a moment. "Though I've never been here before. I figured I'd enjoy the sights a little before hunting those jobs down." she spoke with a small smile, looking back to Tann. "now how did you manage to save up enough to buy a ship?" she asked her with a raised eyebrow, very skeptical over her explanation.

With a laugh she replied, "That's good advice! I'll keep that in mind!"

When Segri then began to tell her story, Tann would lean in a little to show interest but otherwise didn't move any closer. Cigarette or otherwise. She could still smell it. Not that she wanted to judge. "No I totally get it. I should probably look for work myself if I want to make this last longer. I just...didn't want to settle into anything permanent."

She asked about her ship next which Tann cocked her head to the other side, "Oh I'm a mechanic? I kind of spit that in your face a bit. My mother runs a shop back on Ryloth and she let me keep the earnings I got for my own labor when I helped out. It took longer than I wanted to get out here because not only did I have to buy my rust bucket I had to fix her up. But she's a beaut' now! She'll take me wherever I want to go in the 'verse."

Tann went on to explain how she got her ship. It did make sense at least. Having a mother for a mechanic and being able to build your own ship would make things a lot easier. Segri couldn't help but feel a tinge of jealousy towards the girl. It sounded like a perfect childhood to her. She didn't let Tann see it, though, as she gave a smile. "Yeah I can see how that would make things easier." she commented with a chuckle. "I think being able to build and fly your own ship has a sense of satisfaction to it. I got the building part down at least. Just need to work on the flying part." she admitted, looking back at Tann.

"You talk pretty good Basic for a girl that never left Ryloth. I take it it's thanks to that home schooling you mentioned earlier?" she asked, giving Tann a light nudge with her elbow as she referred to their previous interaction.

She looked around and spotted a drinks stand not too far from them. "You thirsty? Come on." she nodded her head in the direction of the stand as she pushed herself off the rail. She kept a slow pace for Tann to stick with her as she wandered over to the stand. Once there she ordered a tall slushie with all kinds of mixed flavours. She started to sip on it as she waited to see if Tann wanted anything. "Take whatever you like." she said as she stirred her drink a little.

Any jealousy or resentment toward her was totally missed by the Twi'lek. She figured Segri was just being friendly. And although they got off to a rocky start, she had no reason not to believe otherwise of the Zabrak. Their conversation turned to her flying which Tann made a small comment about it taking lots of practice, but otherwise it was pretty easy to get the hang of once you sat down in the chair. At least...that's how she felt about it. She had no idea there were other forces at work making things go so smoothly for her.

As Segri changed the conversation and headed over to the drink stand Tann quickly nodded and skipped into step. "Oh sure. Yeah. Well my mother grew up in Hutt space. So she knows the language pretty well and since all sorts of people came and went, Basic was a necessary uh....need. And the same back home. With travelers coming and going needing repairs, they all spoke dozens of languages I'd never even heard of. Basic just...well it's obvious."

Tann didn't realize that Segri was teasing her at this point. She simply thought she was making good conversation. It was pretty clear the Twi'lek was rather naive about a few things in the world. At the booth she looked about as dumbfounded as one might expect of her for that very same reason. She didn't have the slightest clue what things were so she ended up feeling pressured and ordered something yellow. She really hope it was fruity, like the mango fruits on Ryloth. It wasn't. Making a sour face she choked down her drink and tried not to look too embarrassed at the choice she'd made.

While she really was just messing with the kid, it was still interesting to hear where she learned about everything she knew. But Segri was quickly realizing just what an innocent little kid this girl was. If she had to compare Tann's life's story to her own at that age, this girl was living the high life. Segri had probably done enough for a couple life sentences on Coruscant by that time. It felt odd to be speaking to this girl and hearing just how different their worlds are.

Tann decided on a drink and Segri waited to see what her reaction was. She snickered as Tann's face contorted. "Yeah I don't like that one either." she commented before turning to the server, ordering the same drink she had. She handed Tann the slushie before gesturing towards a park bench. "Come on, let's grab a seat. This drink's a lot better than that other one. I'm still not sure if anyone actually likes it." she said as she walked towards the bench. By the bench she sat down and rested her arm on the back, her fingers playing with her dreadlocks as she sipped her drink. "I take it Ryloth doesn't have that many stands in the cities?" she asked as she glanced at Tann. "What's Ryloth like, anyway?" she asked, shifting to get a better look at her. "I've heard that it doesn't have a pretty history and that slavery is a big issue, but that's about it." she commented before slurping away at her drink.

"Well why didn't you stop me?" Tann laughed as she made a few disgusted faces trying to work through the sourness of the drink. Her new friend got her then a second drink and Tann graciously accepted it; Segri knew how short she was on her credits. "Thank you..."

As they walked she kept on the conversation by adding, "Why would they even make it then? Who even likes bitter drinks anyway?" Tann followed to the bench and sat beside Segri with no concern for the fact this bench wasn't meant for three people. She might've been more...apprehensive about her arm placement if Segri was a dude, but girl friends had a better sense of connection than guys did. It wasn't weird. Unless one of them made it weird.

"It really doesn't. Not like this anyways. From the outside, Ryloth is a lot like here. A lot of barren land. But there's the occasional forest. Lots of big scary monsters in there though. So we make our own homes and such where we can. In canyons. On top of cliffs. Wherever we can. But I've never seen such a huge building let alone hundreds of them packed side by side. If we had that sort of....design? I guess. Perhaps slavery wouldn't be such an issue. It's...always been a fear. I don't know who decided us Twi'leks make better slaves, but it's just the way things are."

Her tone got much darker as she thought about the notion of being kidnapped. She personally never knew anyone who was abducted in raids, but she heard the stories. She knew of the heartache and tragedy of it all. Tann wouldn't be surprised if that was one of the reasons her mother wouldn't let her leave home until now. In fact she was sure of it. She was worried for her safety. Rightfully so. A lone Twi'lek walking unknown streets? Easy picking for some. Tann only hoped her first friend wasn't one of those types....

Segri listened to Tann's explanation as she drank her slushie, getting rather curious over Ryloth and what it's like. Though she couldn't stop herself from giving a rather careless chuckle at Tann's last words. "From my experiences with Twi'lek girls, I can tell you exactly why people think that." she spoke with a rather guilty smile before taking another sip. "But from what you're telling me, Ryloth sounds like a pretty cool place to visit. I'm sure the views are really nice from some of those high points. Plus I'd like to see some of those "big scary monsters"." she continued, glancing down at the girl.

She looked ahead again, focused on the drinks stand for a few moments. "I'm curious now." she perked up. "What do you think would happen with the flavour of that drink if we mix some stuff into it. A splash of spotchka, some Corellian Brandy as well...I think that'll definitely get a better taste out of it." she commented as she tilted her head slightly to the side in thought.

She looked at Tann again with a smile. "Or what do you think? Do they got some funky booze on Ryloth?" she asked her as she sat back. "I'd bet people cook up some interesting stuff in those hills and canyons."

At the mention of Segri's experience, Tann would give her a confused look while raising her eyebrow. She wondered what she meant by that, but didn't give it enough thought as to ask a question about it. "No, you wouldn't," she did reply about the monsters. "Ryloth is dangerous. And no laughing matter."

It got silent for another moment and Tann focused her mind back onto her drink and the wonderful flavor of it. But in the back of her head she kept hearing Segri's voice. What experience? Just in passing? In a bar? Or a...cage? It really bothered her, more than she cared to admit.

A blush would start to appear on her cheeks as the conversation then moved on to booze. "I uh....." Tann lowered her head and stared at the mixture in her cup. Her legs shifted under her and she rubbed the soles of her boots back and forth against each other. She was nervous about something.

"I've uh.....Never.....I've never drank before."

She gave a laugh at Tann's warning about Ryloth. "Kid...where I grew up isn't either. Where I grew up, you had different kinds of monsters. I doubt Ryloth is any more dangerous than Underworld is." she explained calmly, though there was a chill in her voice that could be considered a warning if Tann listened close enough. Segri hoped Tann would never end up in Underworld, or Coruscant in general. She was fortunate to have had a mother that protected her from the outside world. Though it was probably not that good as well. With such a naive mind like hers, the girl could be roped into all kinds of bad things...

Segri leaned in slightly to hear what she had to seay, when she heard it a chuckle escaped her lips and she wrapped an arm around the girl's shoulders. "Kid, you came to the right person then." she assured her as she took another sip. "You wanna learn how to drink and what to drink, I'm the person to talk to." naturally Segri completely ignored her previous thoughts over the girl's innocence as she made her offer. But she wasn't such a bad influence, so what could go wrong?

She let go to reach up to her ear and slip the cigarette into her mouth. A few seconds later she took a long drag and blew the smoke up into the air. "So kid? Whaddya say? Wanna what the grown up world has to offer?" she asked her with a smirk as the arm slipped around her once again.

Hearing that Segri had demons of her own in her past made Tann give her a half smile. She doubted that Gutkurrs, Lyleks, or Doashims were running around wildly in the streets. But she wouldn't argue. Her comment though about being a virgin to the alcohol world instantly peaked Segri's interest. Tann fell into her embrace and smiled with a very nervous expression on her face. Aside from her quiet chuckle of true embarrassment, she stayed silent.

After a moment she was released and she straightened up, well...mostly. She was still slunched over a little. Her lekku were twirling slightly at the ends like she was fidgeting with her fingers. She looked up only when she heard the sound of the lighter and watched as she blew the smoke up into the air. Segri's arm came back around and pulled her closer making Tann let out a slight squeak. She felt so tiny all of a sudden. Which wasn't too odd since she was an inch shorter than Segri already. If you didn't count her lekku.

Segri would ask her then if she wanted to join the adult world. Her mind raced with pros and cons, but also her mother's voice telling her to be careful. To Hell with that. Tann looked up and reached for Segri's cigarette and took a draw like she saw her doing. She had every intention of blowing it out all cool-like. Instead she started a coughing fit and waving the cigarette in her hand back to Segri, clearly knowing she'd made a mistake.

Segri blinked in surprise when the girl stole her cigarette and raised a hand to stop her. "Um..." but she was too late as she girl went into a coughing fit. She quickly took her cigarette back and slipped it back into her mouth. "I'd suggest waiting on that one, it's not that easy." she said with a guilty chuckle. She took the girl's slushie and held it up to her. "Take a few sips. And just let it out." she said as she looked around. A few people were a bit caught off guard by the coughing girl but Segri assured them she was fine. "Okey, on to the other part of adult life." she chuckled as she got up and waited for Tann to join her.

"Yeah, I'd suggest staying away from stuff like cigarettes. They're not as harmless as alcohol is." she commented, looking around for a bar. In the distance she caught sight of one. "There we go, there's one. Let's hope they got some good stuff." she said with a mischievous grin as she led Tann toward it.

Along the way she finished off her drink and dropped the cup into a bin. The door slid open as they arrived and Segri led her in. Inside music was thumping away and people all around were laughing and chatting away. A few people looked at them but they quickly looked away and kept on doing their own thing. "There's an open booth. Come on. And word of advice, if a guy or girl offers you a drink, don't take it. And don't follow them around just because they ask nicely." she explained rather sternly as they wove through the people.

By the booth she sat down and made herself comfortable. A waitress, also a Twi'lek with rather skimpy clothing, made their way to their table and greeted with a friendly smile. "I'll have a brandy and cola for myself and..." she thought for a moment on what to order Tann. "And a cider for my friend here. It's her first time mom let her out of the house so let's not get ahead of ourselves" she said with a wink. The Twi'lek chuckled and gave a glance at the girl before walking off to get their drinks.

Segri sat back and took a drag of her cigarette, letting the smoke out to mix with the rest of the thin cloud hanging over the bar. "So, first impressions?" she asked with a smirk.
