Hello there, I'm Gaia, I like Star Wars and am in need of an RP....I suck at these.

Note-my plan for my main is a based off a web series character I made (all of them are actually, I use RPing to refine my characters) who was born to a high ranking member of nobility and a slave, causing her mother to be killed, her kidnapped, her father saving her and then learning how to live on the run, until brought to the Jedi (mostly because she wants to 'heal' from her less then stellar life) and becomes a Padawan. If anyone would like to help with this, just ask.

Anyway, awkward intro aside, I'll can't wait.

Just saying, I get her circumstance but 25 is a bit old for a Padawan if she just started which is what you sounded like you were saying. But, unfortunately Alaasha is only 22 so if you want to keep that age, she can't be her master.

I'm sure the Jedi are okay with older Padawans.

Kira Carsen is most likely in her mid-twenties, for example, and her story is kinda of like Emils.

Are you still playing SWTOR? I think it is a really neat game. The Old Republic is definitely one of my favorite Star Wars era and the game (with KOTOR) truly does it justice.

To answer your question: yes, Dromund Kaas is still around, and yes it is controlled by the Sith. Here's a map of the Faction Territories to help you get a sense of who controls what parts of the galaxy.

A 25 year old Padawan would be fine. The Jedi are currently perfectly willing to accept older candidates. A close eye will be kept on them of course, but still.
