Nashyr Ris had never imagined there would be a time that she would willingly train someone else, or take anyone under her wing. She knew most of the order viewed her as an extroverted oddball, happy to help out with younglings on occasion or even jaunt out into the unknown regions without even her Master knowing where she went. But there was no place like 'home'... and though Ajan Kloss was a bit too rural for her tastes, she had to grudgingly admit the jungle planet had its' perks, and its' beauties.

There was someone else there that she was instructed to meet, or at least, that was how word was passed down. She wasn't even sure if instructed was the right word... perhaps more like ordered. Commanded. That was it!

So here she was again, staring into the depths of the jungle, contemplating the will of the Force, and how it seemed to coincide with the will of the Council. Not that she minded so much... but it had been some time since her instatement to Knighthood, and this was a rite of passage. But with so many temptations to the dark side... she wasn't sure she would be any good. Perhaps ask Max for some pointers later, provided he didn't do the 'Dad' routine. She wasn't certain if she could take another disappointed stare.

...Ah kark it.

Hopefully soon this new student would arrive. Hopefully the youngblood wouldn't be too starry-eyed... and she hoped it wasn't too young a kid. She still wasn't certain how to act around kids... that was Orii's or Max's ways, not hers. Still, she settled into a seated position on a fallen log, content to wait. It was all up to the will of the Force now.

Luckily for Nash, Riz was nothing if not punctual. Shortly after the master had arrived, so too did her student. The purple-skinned Twi'lek strode into the clearing, wearing her bronzium armor and with her lightsaber swinging at her hip. It'd be clear just by looking at her that she was not, in fact, a child. Her frame, including her lekku, was rather tall. Much taller than a developing child would be. No, she was fully grown, and stood at just above six feet tall.

It was also clear by looking at her that she did not have much in the way of muscle, either. Her arms, though partially concealed by her armor, were rather thin, and so was every other part of her. She wasn't unhealthy looking by any means, but it appeared that she had a fast metabolism or at least she hadn't eaten too much in the way of unhealthy foods.

Finally, she spoke as she drew nearer, knowing partially the answer she would receive but wanting to test the waters nonetheless. It wasn't a matter of what the woman would respond with, but how she would respond. Sassy? Sarcastic? She'd have to see. "My name is Riz'kacha. I was informed by the council that you are to be my new master, assuming you are the Nashyr Ris they spoke of. It is my pleasure to meet you." Riz'kacha's tone, at least, was rather formal.

BD-9 pattered up ahead of Riz'kacha, taking a look around the area. Although this is Riz'kacha's home, Beedee found that he had remarkably little to do around the temple: in no small part because of how well trodden the grounds were. Instead, Beedee decided to just follow along and see what his companion is up to.

He gave the Cathar a whistle of greeting and offered a wave of a limb to the Twi'lek presumed new master before stepping off to the side. Unless called upon, the droid planned to simply be an observer.

As soon as Nash saw her new Padawan... she let out a startled burst of laughter.

At least it was a face she'd seen in passing before! She rose from her seated position, giving the woman a wide smile and a glitter of mischief in green-gold eyes.
"Well hello there, Riz'kacha. Pleasure to meet you." She gave the woman a once over-glance, offering her hand out to shake in greeting... when the cutest small droid came pattering out. She couldn't resist the fond smile that touched her lips. Though she was never a mechanic by any means, she truly believed droids had as much personality, if not more, than some organic beings.

She nodded towards Riz, head tilted slightly.
"Yes, I'm Nashyr. But please, just Nash will do. It's good to officially meet at last, kiddo. And hello there, big guy. You're one solid piece of kit." She grinned briefly down at the droid, then focused back on her new student. She knew it would probably bother others with her informality, but she was never the fancy type. Whether or not the fellow Jedi would take her hand, Nash would nod towards her armor, eyebrows raised slightly.

"Nice custom, pretty shiny. We won't need it just yet, though; I've got to test how much you know first. What did your last teacher tutor for you?" She stood tall, arms crossing to listen. It was interesting to see this woman; perhaps Nash wasn't the only one starting a bit older than some of her younglings.

It was a nice change of pace.

Riz'kacha looked utterly terrified for a moment as Nash started laughing. Did she say something funny on accident? Was her outfit inappropriate? She thought it was much more formal looking than her regular attire. After she spoke, Riz'kacha quickly discovered that she wasn't laughing at her. That was a relief. After the panic disappeared, she extended a hand to shake with her, "It is a pleasure to meet you as well. At least more thoroughly. That little droid is BD-9. He has assisted me on more than a few ventures."

Despite her rather neutral words, her tone was one of clear affection. By the way she looked at the little guy with Nash, it'd be clear that she was quite fond of him. The informality was not what she expected in the slightest, but she had to say, it wasn't unwelcome. She had been told before that her personality was rather... robotic, at times, so maybe this would be a good social experience for her.

At the last few statements, she raised a brow. She hadn't expected a compliment on the armor, to be honest, but again, it was a welcome compliment, "Thank you. As far as training goes, I have had a bit of lightsaber training with the jedi Mila, but it was mostly the basics. Other than that, my previous Master and I did not undergo any official training sessions. However, I have a rudimentary knowledge of how to use the force practically, but I have studied the philosophy of it a fair bit in the libraries."

She offered a smile to her new master as she finished speaking. Despite their ages being later than most padawans when they started and their heights being rather tall for women, it seemed the two still had plenty that wasn't in common. Still, perhaps this was a good thing. Riz might be able to teach Nash how to conduct herself more professionally, if she wished, and Nash might be able to teach Riz how to loosen up, among other things. Either way, Riz'kacha was willing to make things work as best she could.

She listened as the younger woman admitted that she was not very well physically trained in the Force; to Nash, training physically was indistinguishable from training in the Force, and just as important as the philosophy. You had to train to know it, to broaden your mind and be physically present to embrace it.

That was one reason they called it the Living Force, after all, it didn't sit idly within them. Like any living thing, it needed action to embrace as well as contemplation; it seemed her student needed most the lesson of action, to begin with.

"Starting today, that's gonna change," she commented easily. She stooped down, grasping something within her palm. When she opened it, it began to float slightly; her eyes met the Twi'lek's calmly, green-gold eyes speculative.

"Strength is the courage to face something head on, even if you hold fear. Fear will control you if you let it. You must learn to let go... and to embrace the courage within you, Riz."

She grinned, then arched a brow with a mischievous glint in her eye.

"Come. Keep up with me, student, small droid," she suddenly spoke lightly, twisting around. And just like that, the Jedi Knight leapt into the underbrush, strides long-legged and familiar in this jungle terrain. The stone dropped to the ground where she once stood.

Did it mean something?

Probably not.

The purple Twi'lek considered her mentor's words for a moment. They certainly resonated with her on some level; it reminded her of two lines in the Jedi code. Emotion, yet peace. Fear was certainly an emotion, and being a Jedi was partially about being able to remove yourself from such an emotion and being able to act rationally. To a lesser extent, it reminded her of the other line: Chaos, yet harmony. With fear and courage fighting each other, there was inner chaos. A Jedi channeled this chaos and filtered it until all that was left was harmony, and let that instead guide its movements. Maybe the Cathar had more wisdom than Riz had initially assumed from her casual demeanor. She was impressed.

And then Riz'kacha watched in disbelief as the woman disappeared off into the jungle, only shooting BD-9 a look before simply shrugging, and saying, "I guess let's go then, BD. Keep a photoreceptor out for anything suspicious on the way." With that, she made a move to follow her, leaving the rock behind and taking off into the brush as well. Though she wasn't nearly as physically active as Nash would be and her prowess in the Force was a bit lacking, she did have a part of her that felt a presence disappearing before her. Perhaps that was her target. She'd find out when she reached it.

Beedee perked up as the Cathar master made her exit. He looked right where the Jedi disappeared into the underbrush, then back at Riz'kacha. Then back at the underbrush. Then back at Riz'kacha. It seemed a little unconventional for a lesson to go like this, but then again: the droid is no expert on Jedi training.

"I guess let's go then, BD. Keep a photoreceptor out for anything suspicious on the way," Riz'kacha said.

// Roger that! // Beedee acknowledged as he sprinted over to Riz.

He climbed up onto the Twi'lek's shoulder, allowing the padawan to lead the way. As the two proceeded into the foliage, Beedee was ready to sound an alert if he detected an anomaly.
