Affiliation:
Hellborn Industries

Himself

Model/Name:
HK-60 Assassin Droid

Class:
Assassin/Protocol Droid

Size:
1.85 meters tall

Composition:
Titanium/Steel/Ciridium Alloy, Cortosis Weave neck and shoulder joints, Electrum Wiring. Can withstand (armour):
  • 1 heavy blaster bolt, 2 medium/light blaster bolts
  • Shoulder joints and neck can withstand 1 lightsaber strike (cortosis weave)
  • 1 vibroblade stab, 2 slashes

Locomotion:
Walks upright on two legs.

Power Supply:
3 power cells located where a human's stomach would be, each lasting 24 hours. HK-60 must recharge after 3 days.

Sensors:
Enhanced audio sensors able to pick up whispering from 4 meters away.

HK-60
Weapons: HK-Standard: 60 was designed with a 15 cm retractable knife blade (wrist, left arm)
Upgradable: Two wrist mounted rockets (left arm, rockets fly up to 10 meters and explode with a 2 meter radius), and a wrist-mounted flamethrower (right arm, can release fire at 3 meter jets, lasting 2 minutes without stopping).

Tools: Attatchable jetpack that can fly continuously for 5 minutes, knowledge of almost all know languages.

Description: HK-60 is primarily an assassin droid that could pass for a protocol droid when not wearing weapons. They typically come in a gold and metal-grey colour, with two orange photoreceptors with a 4x zoom function, and an advanced targeting system to aid with its aiming. The HK-60 comes standard with a retractable knife blade, but are very modifiable, able to add additional wrist mounted rockets and flamethrowers that stay hidden inside its arms until it chooses to use them. Each arm ends in a 5 fingered hand for carrying additional weapons and fufilling the various functions one needs hands for. As it was built to be an assassin droid, HK-60 was created to have built-in armour to protect it, and it was also made to have partially lightsaber resistant cortosis weave neck and shoulder joints in case the droid ever encountered Jedi or Sith. Its design was based off prototype blueprints for an upgraded HK-55 model, with the personality programming taken from the copied fragments of an earlier model, the HK-47. The HK-60 was originally made custom, but the blueprints can be found for a very high price on the market. They are extremely rare, but tend to very versatile in terms of combat styles, and if one has the money they are worth the buy. The HK-60 is not mass produced, and only available by specific request for a high price.

Intent: I am making HK-60 to create a viable droid to use as a droid PC for myself, and anyone else who becomes interested, in addition to being available as faction assets or NPC opposition. This also fills the role of an assassin droid, which don't believe we have yet on the site. This can also create a basis for later assassin droids to be based off of, which would hopefully lead to these deadly types of droids seeing more action on the site as the do in Canon Star Wars (partially "Legends").

Before I go deeper into review, why is this model unique? You have to be able to justify that somehow.

It's unique because a single person had it built, it was not factory made. Therefore, it is the only HK-60 model, making it unique. I could easily make a non unique HK-61 later if you want, but this model is the only one in existence.

That all needs to be expanded upon in the description.

As I have told a number if people now, unique items need significantly more intent justification and description than general use ones. You need to give us a compelling reason to approve something one off that only you are going to be using, when conceivably you could just go with any of the other already approved droids as a base, and use it as is or reskin it however you want as generitech. "I want" is not a good justification for "we need". Id like to know things like what niche this fills that other tech doesn't.

I'll review more thoroughly once you have addressed that.

Not quiet there yet. At a glance, it seems you added one short sentence to the description, but it doesn't really say anything it didn't before, with him being a one off design.

As far as the intent goes, there are two open use assassin/battle droids available, with one training droid that is readily adaptable for the role, which I will be comparing this two when I get the time for a review. So, with that said, your intent isn't really accurate as written now.

Here's my input. I like the write up. The only issue that I see is the all-around light saber resistance. If we can't have that on armors for non-droids, I doubt it will pass on the droid. I would recommend a phirk neck and upper arms. Since in the prequels Droids tended to get their heads chopped off or arms severed for Grevious' Magna Guards (if I recall). That way your droid's protection is on par with regular armor and you won't instant die either.

Also. I do would like to see this more than unique tech. Not only is adding stuff to the public domain also a good thing, but it would help your chances of getting approved. Like, you could say that they are rare, very expensive .etc but still open to PC use and to be used by others (like bringing back up for a PC on a PVE mission, or used as NPC opposition, or for an indie faction's faction assets .etc).

Hope this helps some. Any.

Edit: Ninja'ed :D

I updated the armour section, making HK-60 only lightsaber resistant at the joints, and only a single lightsaber strike at that. I updated the description as well to have a few more details, as well as making the droid no longer unique, albeit rare and expensive. Thanks for those suggestions @Faster Than Light.

@Loco, how are we looking now?

It doesn't look like you added much to the description, and it's still pretty bare bones. Since we only have a headshot to work with photo wise, you need to fill in the gaps. You know the rules- if it's not in the tech profile, it can't do it. But if I approve this right now you should realize that the built in weaponry is permanent and unhidden (which means you could never really pass for a protocol droid), and is the only weapons it could ever use (sort of like the IG-XXs rocket arm), because there's no mention of hands or ability to use other weapons, or targeting systems, etc. You also dont have any eyes/photoreceptors-normally that's a given for organics, but a droids sensors can come in a big variety. I'm sure that's not your intent, but that's things you need to think about when writing a submission and picking a photo. We have to clearly be able to understand or at least anticipate somethings capabilities, and, just as importantly, explain where this thing fits fluff wise- for example, you have no manufacturer listed (you can put that in affiliation), which begs the question- If someone wanted to buy one of these things, where would they even go? Food for thought. There should be a lot going into these submissions other than just slapping a bunch of stats and equipment together because you want to pew more.

Now, on the bright side, the hard stats and gear look good. Only changes you need there are a reductions on phrik- humanoid bodies have a LOT of joints, you need to pick one or two.

I overhauled the description with more specific information and changed the cortosis weave joints to apply only to the neck and shoulder joints (where the arm joins the torso). I haven't added a company yet, since I'm not sure which companies make what, and because the HK-60 would probably be made by specific request, not mass-produced.

You can make up a company name. Or use one from legends or canon. Dara made up Dawnward Design Industries. I made up SmartSecure. And Eccel uses Systech Corperation from Legends

Say hello to Hellborn Industries! A totally original name! But an accurate one.

Query: What's the purpose of a droid protecting it's head from being severed? It wouldn't, conceivably, be an instant kill like it would with organics depending upon where the CPU is located. Just wondering.

Also, the composition and the description don't match. Fix that, and I think we're about done.

Explanation: How does one see its target when one has no head, and no photoreceptors anywhere else? It doesn't. Therefore, to slay meatbags, one needs a head.

I'm unsure as to what you mean by "the composition and description don't match"; I added that the lightsaber resistance was due to the cortosis weave joints, but unless you want me to repeat it all, I'm not sure what I'm missing.

Works for me.

I mean that under the Composition heading, where you have the damage protection listed, it just says "joints". Please be more specific, to match the description, just so there's no confusion.

Ah, missed that. Fixed to specifically shoulder joints.

Approved.

You still need to work on writing submissions though. Thorough descriptions and well thought out intents are vitally important items in these submissions. I highly recommend reading through some of the recent approvals with very detailed descriptions and intents for interesting new tech, and pull inspiration from those writers. It would make things much smoother in the future. Practice makes perfect.
