Holy shit. Cairo’s modest use of the Force was actually working. Charlotte kept her face carefully natural as the Force pushed their minds. “Right…right. We’ll alert the Queen Mother’s Battle Dragon and put in for a fresh rotation.” Charlotte gave them a subtle push of her own. The panic of the fire seemed to soften their minds. The two Royal Guard shuffled passed them and left Charlotte and Cairo alone. She couldn’t stop the bewildered smile on their face.
“Fucking Darkness, you are worth more alive than dead. What a shock.” She sauntered over to one of the terminals. “Well done, my apprentice.” She began clicking away at the keys. The new guard rotation would go into place within the hour. They would then be relieved two hours after that. Cairo and Charlotte would strike at that rotation. She hummed in satisfaction. The codes were easily downloaded onto her datapad. She had the basic slicing skills required. The greater challenged would be fighting through the guards and actually killing the Queen Mother. With a satisfied thump, she put the datapad in her pocket. She handed a small card to Cairo. “The address of my Ta’a Chume’Dan apartments. Meet me there in two hours.” She looked around the room smiling.
“Don’t be late. Get out of here…I have one last little surprise for the Royal Guard.” A few more keystrokes turned off the cameras and dumped the old footage. “Go on.” Once Cairo was gone she would set about placing a few thermal detonators found at the campsite. Within twenty minutes, Charlotte was flinging herself out the window as the guard post exploded in spectacular fashion. That should keep the Royal Guard occupied for days. She laughed as she fell. A perfect distraction. The Hapan Nobel hit the ground running. She had an apprentice to meet.
