Hypocrisy seems to be a virtue for Imperial politicians

Hello! As you must know, the Galactic Senate is meeting after a long hiatus. Among the items that was going to be discussed was the possibility of expelling the Empire from this institution. While the proposal ended being dismissed, it allowed us to see how Imperial Senators operate. From my part, I'm not very impressed.

When faced with questions about their war against the Jedi Order, the Imperials barely said anything that made sense. Perhaps the most exemplary demonstration of their lack of arguments to sustain this conflict was when Senator Shrialla from Centares blurted out the old litany about the Wookies of Kashyyyk and Grandmaster Voran telepathic conversation with Emil Ro. His feeble attempt to use these events demonstrate how they are hypocrites.

See, one of the reasons raised for the Empire to be removed from the Senate was that it was still ruled by the Sith. As many already know, many members of the so-called Imperial Knights were originally Sith. Even the Imperial hero, Altair Din, was a Sith. In their defense, the Imperial Senators argued that they changed and no longer practice this line of Force teachings.

The reason why I think all that a great example of hypocrisy is that the Empire wants us to believe that several individuals that practice Dark rituals and did terrible things in the past became good and virtuous, but they seem to be incapable of forgiving what some few Jedi did several years ago. How can they ask it from us, but themselves don't practice it?

The only logic that I see for this hypocrisy is that the Empire is desperate for territorial expansion, but is incapable of coming with a clever justification. This way, they need to use old isolated cases. This government is really depressing.
