As it turned out, the men were able to deescalate the situation themselves. Even with Maura's sharp hearing and sharp eyes she wasn't exactly sure how it turned around so quickly, but just as fast as they'd heated up, the situation cooled down.

"We'll be in touch. Sorry about the misunderstanding."

"I- I have no idea what that was all about," Maura replied after a long few moments, slowly taking another bite as she swiveled her head to look back at Leon. "But, Gio's the man, ya know?" The Ithorian man had his wits about him, that was for sure. Who was she to question it?

"You wanna head straight to the mall after this?" she asked, jerking her head in the vague direction. After such a tense situation, she was eager to do something more on the fun side.

[Leon Baudelaire]

”You think you can just walk around out hear,” the goon was obviously getting to his breaking point, “AND then LIE right to my FACE?!” he spat the last words. Gio was a shell of his former self. Shoulders slumped, surly glare replaced by wide eyed terror. Leon was seconds from standing when… the two guys started to laugh.

Hearty gut busting guffaws bellowed from the two clowns. Leon’s eyebrow cocked as he turned to look at the two guys. They were locked in a brotherly embrace, slapping one another’s backs hard enough to knock the wind out of slighter being. Baudelaire let out the breath he hadn’t realizes he’d been holding like a balloon coming untied.

“Okay, if they aren't in some acting trope they need to be because I was positive we were about to see a murder,” he said with a relieved chuckle.

The pair finally released their warm embrace, and said their goodbyes. Gio looked over and scowled at Leon, “What?”

Startled, the Adumarian only managed to blink awkwardly and look away. Gio on the other hand turned his back muttering about how rude kids were nowadays.

Maura admitted what he was thinking and Leon was glad to know they were on the same page with their confusion. When she asked if he wanted to head to the mall Leon agreed eagerly. He was ready to get the hell out of this whacky pizzeria, but deep in his heart, he knew he’d come back. The pickle bacon pizza he’d had was worth all the insanity. Next time he’d just order it to go.

A few fun street sessions on their skimboard brought them to the mall in no time at all. Lon loved having another skim enthusiast to vibe with.

“Alright, we made it. Where’s the magic store?”

Maura thought it was super cool that Leon knew how to skimboard. Of course, she'd already expressed it, but racing him through the streets on their boards, skimming off stairs and banking on curbs - it was so much more fun to actually get on and ride rather than just talk about it.

"Right over here - follow me!" Maura immediately hooked a left and walked briskly toward the shop, her black eyes locked onto the shelves of shoes she could see all the way down the hallway. "They've got literally everything, its so cool."

Upon arriving at the shop, the two of them would be greeted with two large glasses windows displaying their latest collections, and upon entering, hundreds of styles all sitting neatly on shelves. Maura turned, grinned at Leon, then grabbed his wrist and drug him along with her to the location of the stores newest collection of J's.

"Damnnn look how sick these shoes are!" The collection was in collaboration with famous brands, with one pair even sporting the Emryc Energy designs and logos, while another depicted the iconic blue Switter bird. "Your favorite color's green, right?" She turned and looked around for green shoes, determined to help him find a dope pair.

[Leon Baudelaire]

Leon banked following Maura’s maneuver as they made the final turn toward the mall. A smile was perma-plastered on his face as the holo-ads from the building unfolded before them. Leon had been to plenty of malls in his life, but it felt strange heading to one now. He associated Ithor with the Jedi. The bulk of his life here was consumed by study, training, and meditation, so to be doing something mundane felt downright insane.

Baudelaire stepped off his board and tucked it under his arm as he and Maura stepped into the building. As soon as they got to the J’s store, Leon felt overwhelmed. The sheer number of brightly colored sneakers was staggering. Luckily, Maura was there to be his guide. She dragged him through the store toward a section of familiar looking high-tops.

Leon frowned at a picture of Emryc printed on a flashy pair of shoes and the president of the ISC frowned right back. The resemblance between father and son was uncanny. A stark contrast to Leon and his father. Something out of the corner of his eye caught his attention and he spotted a pair pf green, black, and white J’s that nearly stopped his heart.

They were perfect. The shoes struck a classic retro vibe while still maintaining a sleek profile. The compulsion to reach out and touch them was all consuming. In a hollow voice he said to Maura, “There they are.”

Like a moth caught by the gleam of a flickering flame, Leon trudged forward until he reached the pedestal upon which the shoe sat. A smile spread across his face like he’d just discovered a treasure he’d been searching for his whole life, “What do you think?”

"Dude! Those are perfect!" Maura followed after Leon, excited for him and happy to match his energy. The green, black, and white J's were the perfect contrast to the red and white ones she loved herself, and she thought that was dope as hell. Maybe she should ditch her plan to get something uber colorful and just upgrade her old red J's for a fresh pair?

"You have to get them," she insisted, black eyes searching the boxes for the right size. "What size do you wear? Lets find them!"
