DESCRIPTION
IG-100 MagnaGuards or Magna Guard, are a type of battle droid created by Holowan Mechanicals. They were a favorite of General Grievous, who used them as his bodyguards during the Clone Wars though they were also known to accompany other high-ranking Separatist personnel. They are capable of continuing a fight even with the loss of one or multiple limbs or even their heads. They were worthy competitors even to the most skilled Jedi, one was even able to back Obi-Wan Kenobi into a corner. They usually fight in pairs of two, one to occupy the Jedi's lightsaber and one to attack from the unguarded flanks or behind. Their presence signified that a high ranking commander was nearby, and the droids automatically outranked other battle droids deployed.

MagnaGuards are roughly two meters tall, with a humanoid body shape, but possess a far-superior mechanical anatomy. This allows for superhuman acrobatics, speed, and combat ability. Their internal systems are furnished with advanced combat learning programs, which, compared to most of the droids utilized by the Confederacy of Independent Systems, allows the MagnaGuards to adapt to a highly diverse variety of tasks. These tasks ranged from melee and ranged combat to starfighter control. Several models of the IG-100 existed, superficially denoted by color—black, alabaster, blue, and the rare gray were all spotted throughout the war. These droids were part of the same Holowan Mechanicals series as the later IG-88 line. MagnaGuards were also capable of speech and were programmed to taunt their opponents in a low growling Basic. Aside from human speech, they appeared to occasionally use an audible form of droid language. When in distress, such as when pinned to the ground, they also make yelping sounds.

MagnaGuards were fully optimized to battle and kill. This was due to not only their impeccable melee functionality but also their capability to withstand a massive loss of structural integrity before total system failure, as well as their inability to feel pain. Even after decapitation, or bisection, they could continue to effectively engage a target. The only sure way to destroy a MagnaGuard would be to stab them in the chest. Other than this, however, as well as their enhanced movement, magnaguards could do little more without a weapon than the average human.

Years after the clone wars, such droids are extremely rare to find. They rarely act as bodyguards anymore, most acting of their own will to create their own path in life.

LEGALITY
Restricted. IG-100s are subject to extensive licensing for ownership by a faction or individual, and receive a great deal of scrutiny from authorities.

INTENT
To introduce the iconic droid model as site canon; also to create a PC/NPC platform for writers to utilize. Finally, to allow access to a droid that is specialized for melee combat and could bring multiple nuances and new options into roleplay.

RESTRICTIONS
Character controlled PC's or NPC's* based on this droid model will be subject to extra scrutiny during role-play. IG-100s are not compatible with droid upgrades, while asthetic changes are not unheard of.
