Imperial Czerka
The Czerka Imperial Holdings & Trading Corporation (Sith: Czer Akvase Galiamus & Amatas Katvijigea, and abbreviated to ‘Imperial Czerka’) was an autonomous member of the ‘Czerka Corporate Directorate’, responsible for the operations of the group within Imperial Space. Functioning separately from the broader Czerka Corporation, Imperial Czerka had its own board, supply chain, and investors - and spun off semi-officially from its parent company following a period of sanctions on the old Sith Empire.
Officially, a full separation took place in the opening period of Emperor Drast's reign, in which he assigned a charter to the firm, registering it as a ‘Corporate Authority’ with control over numerous sectors. Now considered one of the leading firms within The Empire, Imperial Czerka is part of the ‘Engines of Industrial Growth and renewal’ within the reformed region.
Recent History
For centuries, the Czerka Corporation dominated swathes of the Galactic economy, with resources, fleets and technology the won't of Governments. In more recent times, the company found itself toe-to-toe with competitors, and crisis after crisis. Following the Galactic Senate agreeing to sanction the Sith Empire, Czerka faced a crossroads.
Meeting the challenge head-on, the firm shoulder sizable losses in Imperial Space as it was forced to survive without the support of its broader corporate ‘family’. Falling under the influence of The Empire and its military apparatus, Czerkas operations in imperial space emerged from the sanctions separated from its parent company in all but name.
When the Sith fled The Empire, following internal turmoil that led to their exile, Czerkas executives in Imperial Space saw an opportunity. Firming up their links with the Imperial government and military, they stepped up as a key corporate partner in The Empire, close to the new regime of Emperor Drast, who passed laws emboldening Corporate Authority, in return for their unwavering loyalty to his Empire.
With an injection of capital from the industrial tycoon, Julia Hipori, who liquidated her holdings in Blackwell, the spin-off Corporate Authority of ‘Imperial Czerka’ was formed. Awarded charters over several systems in Imperial Space, and with Ms Hipori as CEO, the firm stepped into the limelight, as a key partner in the new Empire.
Operations
An ambitious and well-connected company, Imperial Czerka operates in a simple yet effective structure, where its board is made up of the standard suite of C-level executives, a Security Head, and then the directors of each of the ‘Corporate Authorities’ Czerka operates.
Simply put, Imperial Czerka is structured around the operation of these charters, in which it controls a planet, system or more, under a ‘Corporate Authority’, where Czerka leases the planets within that Authority, and everything on them from The Empire.
This enables the Corporation to construct factories, mines, agritech stations and more, with the only stipulation being that the profits flow to its HQ on Raxus, where the firm pays its taxes in full, and on time, alongside paying it's leases to The Empire itself. As a result the Corporation is a major supplier of raw materials, agricultural products, manufactured goods and war material. Alongside this it is a significant provider of cargo and passenger shipping, security and technology services.
Imperial Czerka is responsible for the security of its Authorities, with each Authority Director overseeing regional security, as well as the productivity of the Authorities themselves. Directors are required to report back each month to the main board, where they are assigned targets.
This simple but effective system provides Imperial Czerka with the leeway it needs to deliver what The Empire requires.
Aside from this, the company retains a small central security force, mostly kept ‘off the books’, which looks after corporate counter-intelligence, board security, and ‘special projects’.
Imperial Connection
Unsurprisingly, Imperial Czerka has very close ties with the Imperial Government, with the CEO of the company meeting with the Imperial Ruling elite regularly. It is a major supplier to The Empire, and operates exclusively within Imperial Space.
Shareholders are required to be Imperial Citizens, with the Imperial Government owning a ‘Golden Stake’ in the company itself, and holding a sizable percentage of the voting power at the board. Whilst the company is private, and not ‘directly controlled’ by The Empire, the ties between Imperial Czerka and the regime are extremely close. The firm is required to seek approval from the Imperial government for any shareholder movements or sales.
Indeed, the ISB and Imperial Czerkas Corporate Counter-Intelligence Unit work closely with one another as well, although, naturally, this is not confirmed.
Business Ethics
Whilst the firm would never admit such in public, Imperial Czerka has continued the long held tradition of corporate skullduggery upheld by Czerka of old.
The firm makes use of indentured service contracts, price gouging, corporate sabotage, and much more. It uses criminal contacts, mercenaries and slicers to attack, defenestrate and generally destroy it's rivals.
Making us of its connections to the ISB, Czerka works with the imperial secret service to further it's agenda, especially when it has a shared self-interest with the Imperial government.
