Imperial Fleet 'disappears' in fuel shipment disaster.

A long-distance trade convoy has gone missing on the Imperial Border, authorities can report, with early indications of a 'large scale explosion' on the Imperial Border. The convoy was last reported near the Imperial Border with spoofed transponders, which authorities have said was "an indicated of an effort to smuggle goods into Imperial Space". Before it could be stopped and checked, however, the convoy jumped across the Imperial cordon and into what is known as 'Sith Space'. The Herald has received reports that it was due to meet an Imperial Warfleet on the other side of the border.

In what are presently unconfirmed reports from anonymous sources, the fleet was carrying a cargo of Coaxium (a volatile ship fuel), for sale on the black market to the embargoed Sith Empire.

Early indications suggest that the convoy suffered a 'catastrophic fuel storage failure', causing the Coaxium to destabilise, and detonate. It is understood at this stage that the convoy was linked up to an Imperial Warfleet for the transfer of fuel, and subsequently took out the Imperial fleet in the resulting explosion. Whilst the Herald has not been able to verify this information, we have received reports from local authorities monitoring the border that the convoy had made its way from Hutt Space, leading to some questions to be asked as to whether this was indeed an accident, as has been suggested, or a provoked response to a recent alleged assassination attempt by the Empire on the Hutt Cartels 'Supreme Mogul'.

We will have more on this story as more information becomes available.
