Yeah, and no, a Katana wouldn't. Sorry. Sure, if the Zweihander was made of tin, and in the year 200... and we're taking the Katana from 1100 then yes, but no. Even ground. mid millenium Zweihander, the Katana would shatter... Sorry, That's physics. The Katana, though well made and dense, could not sustain the initial shock of the impact of a 'PROPER' user of Zweihander.

Katanas can't cut through tanks, i'm sorry... They're a practical weapon on unarmoured opponents, sure. They're a fast and fluent weapon, sure. Yes, they are good at what they do. But Zweihanders were used in castle seiges for a reason, and that's not because they break. I'd like to see the asian 'block' a strike from a Zweihander, and still hold his weapon or have his wrists not shatter.

Katanas also weren't made to clash, Bushido lead with a lot of misdirection and deflection. Rather than hard blocking aswell.

And yeah, it's goin bad, cos i aint dropping this one. Also the best made, and intricately woven weapon was a Dutch smiths' trype 9 greatsword for the order of St George. It outclassed the Katanas make in every way.

Wow, totally not the point. The Claymore is a totally different beast than the Katana with completely different and totally incompatible combat styles. The Katana is a lighter weapon which can easily be used for quick strikes from a central defensive position, the Claymores closest relative in the Japanese sword family is the Odachi, which could easily go head-to-head with a Zweihander.

Apples and oranges people.

I'm not arguing that a blow from a sword such as that wouldn't be more powerful, nor am I saying it will cut straight through the sword. What I said if I may quote myself:

a katana will cut a Zweihander more effectively than vise versa.

Which it would.

Actially, i'd say the closer equivalent would be either the Zanbato, the clothesline blade (ala Kojiro Sasuke) or the Obokkei club XD But that's just me. The Zweihander was a 6' weapon. (including handle) on average one must remember, anything 'thin' that strikes it is going to disappear into peaces.

But yeah, i'm a weapons freak >.> colour me a guy.

Edit: Okay, rereading your post, yes, it would more easily 'cut' the zweihander blade. Because a Zweihander is not a 'cutting/ slicing' weapon. It's a heavy impact cleave. Which is something the Katana really isn't made to take. >.> But yes, the cutting power of the Katana is greater. This much, at the very least, is true.

I'm not sure there is a uniform star fighter that we have, at least not after the attack on Seoul V.

There is going to be no universal fighters as at. We want as few similarities between retinues as possible. So for the time being supply your own or make friends with someone who has one :P

Ok I got a idea for a character.

He will all ready have experience under his belt has he will be a 27 year old freelance. He will fly a old heavily modified civilian fighter. He was working for the imperial knight's for some time has a freelance pilot. But he never knew until now. He was brought in after he showed great valor in defending a knight in a dog fight against the sith. He is force sensitive but has no training.

Not bad! Seems like a neat background to me =)

Yeah, I'd say he has the makings of a good Squire.
