Sith Order

vlcsnap-42849.png

The Sith Order, generally referred to simply as Sith, are Bogan-oriented Force users. These Dark Siders are famous for survival of the fittest mentality, mercilessness, and totalitarian crusades. After Palpatine's fall, the remnants of the Galactic Empire eventually molded into the Fel Empire which for a time was occupied by Darth Krayt. This new Sith threat nine years ago managed to take over the Fel Empire-turned-Elyurius Empire, which has recently been rechristened as the New Sith Imperium.

In addition to their usurping of the Imperial Throne, the New Imperial Knights are perhaps the most philosophically opposed to the Sith of all the factions. Whereas the Knights stress self-denial, service, egalitarianism and team-work, the Sith are power-worshiping individualists who stress gratification of the needs and freedom from obligation (which they view as a type of weakness) as the ultimate philosophical vindication of their code.

Knights are advised to never underestimate any Sith and to handle them with care. If possible, Sith are to be either captured or killed, but if the opportunity does not present itself, Knights are not to reveal themselves to the Sith. Whereas the previous mentality stressed hunting down Dark Siders, the New Imperial Knights believe in patience and in striking at the whole rather than the individual. While the Knights will take the fight to the Sith and will kill many dark siders, higher-value targets demand more patience.

For now the Knights are mostly believed dead by the Empire. Knights are to show caution in all affairs and discretion, being always careful to leave no loose ends that would show the extent of our return.

Empire

The Empire, formerly the Elyurius Empire and recently rechristened the New Sith Imperium, is a galactic empire covering a significant portion of the "Northern side" of the galaxy. The Sith managed to take over the Elyurius Empire by slaying Emperor Luthor Elyurius and infiltrating several key positions beforehand; this tragedy and massacre is generally known as the Purge.

While the Imperial Knights would prefer not to damage what was once their empire, their allies, comrades, friends, the Sith have corrupted this once beautiful empire and present an affront to the ultimate masters of the Knights: the Force and the greater good of the Empire. Any harm that thus is done to otherwise innocent Imperials is in the service of this overriding utilitarian principle. Knights are advised to engage in propaganda and psychological operations against the Empire. Fear is to be utilized against the Sith as well as good will operations. The Imperial Knights will be known as freedom fighters who will (despite striking out at Imperial civilian and other targets) also remedy the injustices of the Sith despite being out of power. Ultimately the Sith cannot hold power if the people awake to throw off their shackles. The Knights may yet be an actuator in this process.

For now the Knights are mostly believed dead by the Empire. Knights are to show caution in all affairs and discretion, being always careful to leave no loose ends that would show the extent of our return.

Jedi Order

The (New) Jedi Order, generally shortened to just Jedi, are an Ashla-oriented Force users. Ascetic and austere, these Light Siders have served and protected the Galactic Alliance for centuries. The Jedi have warred with the Sith for millennia and will be useful in crushing these new Sith blasphemers. They were once led by Grandmaster Beric Kasarun and Councilor Augustus Primus Leonus, but were forced to step down from the Jedi Council and in their self-exile eventually fell to the Dark Side. The Jedi are now led by Garth Dovhann.

Philosophically the Jedi are not enemies or even ideological adversaries of the New Imperial Knights though in their own way they tend to focus more on the individual's connection and contemplation of the Force rather than the team-oriented ethos of the New Imperial Knights. Jedi also tend to be more mystical than the pragmatic NIK.

They are however very powerful warriors and historically great enemies of the Sith. Their experience could become an asset and their knowledge should be used, even if they are not aware of it, against the Sith.

Galactic Alliance

The Galactic Alliance, sometimes simply referred to as the Alliance, is a democratic republic of thousands of star systems and a military able to match the Empire's. The Alliance and Empire have been in a state of stalemate since the Purge but recent events are pulling the Galactic Alliance into a war with the Empire.

Following the attack on Seoul V, the GA presumably thinks little if nothing of the existing Imperial Knights structure. We are not to dissuade them from their beliefs. For the time being, the GA may be riddled with the hated Ubiqtorate spies, and we are only to approach when our strength has grown.

Jedi are honorable and generally wise warriors however and are to be treated with courtly respect, even if the inherent deception of not revealing our identities must be maintained for the moment.

Mandalorians

The Mandalorians are an honorable faction of warriors, famous for their beskar armor. Despite Mandalorian Space almost completely surrounded by Imperial Space, the Imperial Knights have not interacted much with the Mandalorians. As the Mandalorians don't exactly tend to see the Jedi well due to past experience, the Imperial Knights were lax about starting relations with the Mandalorians.

The Mandalorians have since been evicted from their ancestral homelands and given refuge within GA space. Whether this means they are more receptive to an alliance with the New Imperial Knights is a question up for debate.

Perhaps more than any other faction the Mandalorians and the Imperial Knights have the most in common. Both stress a communitarian warrior ethos which stresses honor and plain dealing. Both have a historical grudge against the Sith, and both have been dealt harsh hands by the dealings of fate and the Sith. Like the NIK, the Mandalorians believe in a work-ethic that eschews dependence on the Force as arguably the Jedi (and more definitively the Sith) do.

For now, the Mandalorians are in an uncertain state. They certainly care little and know little of the Imperial Knights but should be monitored for they may prove useful allies in the future.

Mandalorians respect honesty. Whilst our core mission is shrouded in deception be plain in your dealings with them. There is an old saying that any easy deception will be thrice paid in blood if wreaked on a Mandalorian. Knights would do well to be mindful of this aphorism.

Chiss Ascendancy

The Chiss Ascendancy, or simply referred to as the Chiss, is a highly sophisticated empire controlled by Grand Imperator Kodo'ran'nuruodo. In the past, the xenophobic empire was neutral in galactic affairs as much as possible, but Sith influence have resulted in them being more expansionist.

The Chiss recently helped to spearhead the attack on Seoul V which broke the back of the Old Imperial Knights. Whilst honor demands retribution, the Code of the Knight recognizes both leniency to one's enemy and pragmatism. The Chiss are not truly our philosophical enemies and their essential character has not changed. Whilst the Knights should not and will not hesitate to hinder their interests, our focus is on the Sith.

Chiss themselves are practical and honorable folk, hewing to their words even if their interpretation of said words tend to be over-clever and bordering on mendacity to outsiders. Deception and discretion is to be our watchword with them. Like the Mandalorians they should be monitored for they may yet present opportunities for the Imperial Knights.

Diplomatic Ledger

This Ledger will keep a tally of missions/RPing involving the other factions and our evolving relations with them. As previously noted, Justicars (or the assigned mission reporter) are expected to submit mission reports detailing the results/consequences of their missions and RPs so we can keep track of who has RPed with what faction and to what outcome.
