"The entire galaxy mourns today at the passing of Supreme Chancellor Emil Ro. The Chancellor was discovered late last night on the balcony of his Coruscant penthouse at 500 Republica, dead. Sector Rangers have confirmed that the cause of death was a blaster wound but have not released any more details and have refused further questioning at this time. The time of death is unknown, and our sources within the Coruscant Security Force say that they currently have no suspects.

"Grim news indeed, as the passing of Chancellor Ro sends shockwaves not only through the New Republic but the entire galaxy. In the midst of a raging war with the Sith Empire and recent Mandalorian attacks, citizens of the New Republic fear for their future and their livelihoods. Chancellor Ro was a controversial figure, but love him or hate him— Emil Ro stood as a lone beacon of hope and strength for the New Republic when they needed him most."

Elora Trevino was replaced by images of the Supreme Chancellor during key and candid moments in his political career.

"Under his predecessor, Eder Owusaan, the New Republic was hemorrhaging credits and the Republic credit was in a constant state of depreciation. Chancellor Ro singlehandedly rebuilt the Republic military just as he had on Balmorra and imbued the New Republic with a renewed vitality and vigor. Unlike his predecessor, the Chancellor was not content to sit on the sidelines and allow New Republic worlds to fall to the Sith Empire.

"In perhaps the most controversial decision of his incumbency, the Chancellor ordered New Republic fleets to open fire on strategic military targets and communication satellites scattered across the planet of Denon, a Free Worlds planet that had been forcibly taken by the Sith Empire. Some politicians rallied around the Chancellor, while others criticized the decision, calling it an overreach of authority and an unwarranted attack. But one thing was certain—the Chancellor had established himself as a protector of the New Republic, and citizen of the core could once again enjoy a sense of safety.

"Little is known about the family that survives the late Chancellor, but the Chancellor's political career did not hinder his social life. Emil Ro managed to make friends along the way, none closer than his confidant and colleague within the New Republic— Jin Vaisra, and the Jedi Grandmaster herself—Alexandria Voran, to whom he was romantically tied on more than one occasion.

"The Grandmaster issued a
public statement earlier today, where she was quoted to say, 'His [Chancellor Ro] heart beat furiously for a free galaxy and for me. We stood with him in life, and we will in death…for no one is ever truly gone…they are always with us.' Reportedly, the Grandmaster then reached up to clasp her hand around the locket that hung from her neck, where we must assume she keeps a photograph of her late beloved."

"Sources close to the late Chancellor claim that he once saved the life of Jin Vaisra while the two were out enjoying a quiet dinner together. According to these sources, a madman disguised as a restaurant waiter attacked the Senator of Fondor with a knife. If it wasn't for the Chancellor's quick reflexes, Jin Viasra would be as dead as the stale oysters the counterfeit waiter was trying to pawn off on them.

"Chancellor Ro was not all business and had a number of hobbies, swoop biking and hover-sledding to name two of them. The Chancellor often frequented ski resorts whenever he wasn't swamped with work, and occasionally he would be spotted enjoying his leisure time with well-known colleagues and friends."

The camera cut back to Elora Trevino. "The death of Supreme Chancellor Ro has dealt a cruel blow to an already suffering galaxy, and the shock of his sudden and unexpected demise will continue to baffle and horrify the public for years to come. Unknown forces stole the New Republic and its people of their leader when they needed him the most. Only time will tell how this monumental loss will effect the galaxy at large.

Chancellor Ro might be gone, but he will never be forgotten."
