Zerath had to consciously stop himself from rolling his eyes- he was, after all, no longer wearing his blindfold- as Nightwalker suggested that the Jedi would try to pull a fast one on him. If it had just been Zerath, he could've probably done it, but Tacovean was hardly a stealthy individual in his current state. Zerath didn't know how long the high would last for- some passed in minutes, while others could last hours. Mentally, he thanked the Force that the Twi'lek hadn't been given tainted spice, which was on the rise in some areas.

Zerath didn't like the idea of fighting over the Twi'lek, but at least the walk would give him a chance to talk to Taco... and perhaps set the record straight. The boy deserved the truth, and as he began speaking Zerath realized that the duel had already begun, in a manner of speaking. Words were oftentimes more powerful than lightsabers. "Tacovean" the Jedi Knight said, using the Twi'lek's whole name to get the boy's attention. Perhaps he would question how Zerath knew his full name despite not sharing it. "Allow me to introduce myself. I am Zerath Eblon, and I am a Jedi Knight. Jack Nightwalker, who claims to be your master, is not from the Jedi Order. Do not be fooled by his lies."

The city was so…city! There were vehicles EVERYWHERE. There was a lot of NOISE and a lot of PEOPLE and a lot of BRIGHT LIGHTS and over there went a woman into a store, a man walked a dog-cat-thing, the alley on the left had a few people dancing around, no, they were now beating each other up. Oooooooh that guy’s got a BEAT STICK, HEY.

“Tacovean.”

Taco blinked at that. Most people didn’t call him by his whole name. They just called Taco, well, Taco. Taco Taco it rhymes with Taco. Meanwhile who the hell was Jack Eblon?

“Hi, I am Tacovean Delminar.”
He offered his left hand, realized it was wrong, offered the right hand instead. He hoped this stranger shook it. He seemed to busy waving in and out of the fabrics of space time though.

“Oh, this bike on the guy, hey?”
He nodded at Jack. The guy wasn’t watching them, focused on guiding his bike along. “Yeah, that’s Jack Nightwalker, Mr. Zeblon, sir. He says he's a Jedi.”

Taco held one hand over his face and leaned in closer to whisper.Psst!-Psst! I don’t think he is, my dude, ‘cause Jedi don’t have red laser swords, ya dig?” Withdrew. “Hey can you make ME a knight or do I need to buy you a leather jacket ‘cause I always wanted to buy someone a leather jacket like you don’t even know how much I wanted to buy someone—”

“Almost there, my friends!”
Jack called from the bike. Wait…almost where…are we FINALLY going to visit Coruscant now?

Zerath's famous smile broke out across his face as Taco offered his left hand for a handshake. Zerath politely shook the proffered hand, then dutifully shook the right hand as well when Taco extended that one. Despite the gaffe, it did appear that the spice high was receding slightly as the Twi'lek shared incredibly important intel with the Jedi Knight.

A 'red laser sword' was the final nail in the coffin of Zerath's worst suspicion- the man who claimed to be Jack Nightwalker- who was not a Jedi, who spoke of power and of harming innocents, who treated Taco's future as a fate to be decided rather than an opportunity given life- was a Sith.

Kark.

Despite the confident assertation by a Jedi long ago that Sith lords were Jedi's specialty, Zerath wasn't so certain. He was unquestionably better suited to face off against this man than the majority of the galaxy, but Zerath's strengths were not in combat. Feeling very much like a square peg being driven towards a round hole, Zerath almost missed the Twi'lek's question.

"The path to becoming a Knight is unique for everyone, but there is more to it than purchasing a leather jacket for someone" the Mirulakan/Zabrak responded, suddenly grateful for Taco's antics; they reminded him what he was fighting for. "I'll explain more on the way to Yavin, but first there is some business I must take care of." He didn't have the time to explain why he was about to duel Jack. It was a duel he hoped he would win, but there were no guarantees in this life. "Taco? Do try to stay out of danger... and if something should happen to me... may the Force will be with you."

Well, there was no turning back now. The warehouse had been reached, had been breached, and strewn containers and yesterday’s dinner had been stepped over. Kayden had entered first, had made sure that he was being followed by two souls, and turned on a music player that was oddly antiquated for a warehouse like this.

The piano drifted around the large room, spacious in spite of the crates and containers lining the walls. Kayden flipped a switch, let there be light, turned to regard his contemporaries. “Can I offer either of you a drink?”

He offered either of them a drink: mid-tier wine for the Zabrak, orange juice for the Twi’lek, expiration date uncertain. For himself, Kayden went with the wine. The Merlot was far from sophisticated, not the staple of his primary taste, but would suffice.

“So...” The would-be Sith sipped from a glass a little too clean for the environment. “You’re a Jedi, huh?” Obvious as to who he was asking there. “How long have you been with the Order?”

Taco, meanwhile, found a crate to sit on, a handheld gaming device to play on, and orange juice to sip on.

Zerath declined the drink, instead examining both the room and the suspected Sith who apparently resided in it. It was... predictably messy, given that a single male occupied it, with a lived-in look and a lived-in smell. Jack was treating this whole excursion quite casually, which did little to clear Zerath's conscience. For all the man's half-truths, misdirection, and disdain for the wellbeing of others, the Jedi Knight still felt as if he was missing an important piece to the puzzle. Sith or not, Zerath vowed to find out as much as he could about the man claiming to be Jack Nightwalker as he could before the opportunity passed.

That was partially why the Knight was open to conversation with Nightwalker; the other reason was that he was still holding onto hope that this wouldn't end with them fighting each other. There was a time, a place, and more importantly, a reason for fighting, and in Zerath's mind they hadn't reached that point yet. "I am a Jedi" he confirmed, "and I've been with the Order for most of my life."

With the question answered, it was Zerath's turn to drive the conversation. "And who exactly are you, 'Jack'?" he asked, although his tone would convey that the real question was still to come. "Who are you to endanger Tacovean, while falsely claiming to be a Jedi?" By naming the sin, Zerath hoped to remind the Twi'lek that despite Nightwalker's "hospitality", the man was still very dangerous. Perhaps it would also put the seemingly unflappable Sith on the defensive.

Kayden raised his glass to congratulate Zerath on having served the Jedi for so long. Gods I’d have flayed myself by then. He held the glass in place instead of taking a celebratory sip.

There was something about Zerath’s words just then that could make Kayden smile, and he did, but only if razor blades could grin. Who am I..? Who are you to ask me who I am? Which one of us is truly false?

Maybe it was the soothing tune of the piano as it illuminated the warehouse like candlelight, maybe it was the blackberry and chocolate notes of the Merlot, but Kayden chose not to voice those thoughts aloud as he looked around this place that had become his. For now.

“This warehouse has been abandoned for some time. It used to be a drug den. Some spicers hung around here. When I arrived, well, they decided to…hang up their belts.”

With a flick of the wrist, a door beside Zerath opened up to reveal a room, close enough to see into.

From Kayden’s position, he didn’t have as much of an angle but didn’t need to see. Inside that room, gently swaying to the music, were maybe a half-dozen bodies. They hung from the ceiling with belts wrapped around their necks.

Human, Trandoshan, Devaronian—this species or the other. Their faces were intact. The rest of them…not so much. They were naked; as naked as naked could be. Their flesh, muscle, fat, dyed red or green or what have you, was entirely exposed, dripping wet. Their skins were hanging on the wall behind them.

“Their hearts gave out before my knife could find their faces.” Kayden remembered those faces, some of them anyway; their mouths and eyes opened wide. Tomorrow, he might forget them all. “Or maybe that’s just what I tell myself.” He sipped between pursed lips.

“That is who I am, Sir Knight. Mr. Jedi. Some call me Sith.” He shrugged. “Sure, I am, but that word means as much to me as it does to those corpses in that room, and I regard them as much as I do the contents of my toilet.”

Kayden wondered what Zerath would make of all this nonsense. Taco was too busy playing his game to care. We have that much in common, at least.

By the Force… the sight of the Sith’s victims churned Zerath’s stomach, grim determination settling into place after the initial shock faded. It took everything in the Jedi Knight not to immediately ignite his lightsaber and go on the attack- a couple years ago he might’ve, but as always, there was the bigger picture to keep in mind.

The “bigger picture”, however, was engrossed in a handheld device and was oblivious to the danger he was in; Zerath promised himself that while he himself might join the spice dealers in Nightwalker’s warehouse, he would do everything in his power to ensure that Taco escaped that awful fate.

Zerath scanned the room with his Force Sight until he spotted what he was looking for; the keys to the speeder, conveniently discarded upon entry like the takeout boxes and other clutter in the warehouse.

Perfect.

“I understand now why the Force has brought me here today” he said. “Not only to bring Taco to the Jedi Order, but to shine light upon your darkness… and drive it out.” As he spoke, Zerath stared down the Sith- insofar as one wearing a blindfold could stare at anyone- and walked slowly in a circle towards where the keys lay on a wooden crate. His path also brought him closer to Taco, and the Jedi Knight reached out through the Force to touch Taco’s mind; no easy task, given the Twi’lek’s hyper-focus on his game. [Tacovean… Taco!] he said sharply, hoping to jolt the boy out of his current focus. [Take these keys and use the speeder to go to the nearest Ranger station. Tell them to contact the Jedi Order, and stay there until they confirm the identity of whomever is sent to pick you up. There is a Sith I must deal with.]

The Jedi Knight turned slightly to hand the keys off, his other hand closing around the hilt of his lightsaber as he readied himself to buy Taco as much time as he could to escape.

Silencing the piano, Kayden couldn’t help but chuckle. Jedi, Sith, both could be so melodramatic. Shine light upon my darkness? Drive it out? Are those lyrics to a Dami Vice song?

It was just as much a tragedy. If only the Zerath Eblons knew what kind of a universe they truly lived in, blinded as they were to the very light they thought would never go out. The stars are bleeding. My silly sister saw as much. When the candles melt, when the suns stop singing, so begins the end.

Taco looked up just then. “I, uh, hmm… My g-g-game told me I need a SPEEDER now!? I don’t know how to drive!” Even if the boy was an expert pilot, he might still be a tad too off his mental game to commandeer a vehicle solo.

“Who needs a speeder?”
Kayden finished his wine and set the glass down. “Taco, be a dear and go sit in the lounge while the adults discuss what to do with you, will you?”

“TACO TACO IT RHYMES WITH SPEEDER” The Twi’lek bolted upright, carried his gamepad and those keys and took off running. No problem. The key to Kayden’s bike was in his pocket. Taco would be taking a drug dealer’s vehicle who no longer needed it. Of course, he'll have to figure that out first.

“How far do you think he’ll get?” He heard the front door close, waited a few moments, but it seemed like the teenage tool was idling outside from what his true master was sensing. Probably back to his game already…

“Oh well. He is safe for now.” The Sith retrieved his own lightsaber; nothing fancy, just a bronze hilt with a black leather grip. “I guess...we're not? Not really.” Protruding from the hilt like his own yearning member, the Sith’s red blade hummed and haunted. “I shall enjoy this dance, Sir Knight. You might too, for a little while. So, your move or mine?”

As Taco loitered outside, Zerath sighed internally- apparently, he'd have to buy the youth a lot more time than he'd anticipated. The Sith's blade was already activated, washing the immediate area in a red hue; a visual representation of the blood that stained Nightwalker's hands. Snap-hiss! Zerath ignited his own lightsaber, which, like the Sith's, was not fancy. The hilt was a dull silver in color, with a simple brown leather grip darkened from hundreds of hours of practice. The Jedi Knight had never truly seen the blade before- his Force sight didn't lend itself well to interpreting colors- but "Jack" would observe a vibrant green blade spring into existence.

Zerath didn't waste time responding to the Sith's casual commentary, springing into action. He wielded the lightsaber with two hands, and quickly went on the offensive. The two men were around the same size, with a slight advantage going towards Nightwalker, so Zerath tried to win with speed. Sparks flew around the warehouse as red clashed with green, with Zerath opening with a standard Form VI opening cadence to test his opponent's defenses.

Around the same size as one another, speed would be a relative feat for both opponents, the most of which would rely on the Force, not that Kayden was in any hurry here. It had been a bit since his last duel, least of which was a Jedi.

Form VI, Form V, Form Vagina, the Sith wasn’t terribly concerned with any of them. His opponent opened forward and Kayden received him with open arms. Red kissed green, a shower of color for a man with both eyes, the clash of lightning illuminating the warehouse far more vibrantly than candles or a piano.

Zerath swung with both hands, Kayden parried with both hands. He arced his saber right to left, intending to bash his opponent’s away to Zerath’s right and then quickly follow up.

Kayden’s saber would come back left to right, swinging horizontally for Zerath’s right side, an attack that would cleave the man in two near the waist.

As Zerath engaged the Sith, he got the sense that Nightwalker was, at the very least, his equal- and quite possibly his better. That much was evident as the man switched from defense to offense in an instant, cleaving horizontally with surprising speed. The Mirulakan barely managed to parry, awkwardly arcing his lightsaber out of the flow of the cadence and into contact with the crimson blade. The shock of the blades connecting, combined with the strength behind the blow, rattled Zerath's arms, and for not for the first time, the Jedi Knight began to doubt his ability to hold out against such an opponent.

Having narrowly survived the attempt to turn him into Jedi 0.5, Zerath danced backwards and fell into a defensive stance to await the next attack. His two hands remained on the lightsaber, its hilt held around his stomach and titled to the left to cover his torso diagonally. Hopefully Taco was making some progress outside.

A blindfolded man, the Miraluka might have been, but blind he was not. Kayden had no intention of underestimating the man’s ability to ‘see’. Clearly he had sense enough to evade having his body halved.

That attack failed, Kayden rebounded, allowing a moment to smile whilst his foe recovered. Okay. We’re playing now. O-Kayden. They weren’t alone, lest the Jedi forget. They had an audience. Still dangling from that ceiling, the sluts.

The bleeding blade crossed Kayden’s body in a similar fashion to his opponent. Just then, it pushed forward right as its wielder planted his right foot in the same direction. Hilt still in two hands, he pushed the blade's midsection against the left side of Zerath’s.

While attacking a weapon outright was folly, that wasn’t all Kayden did. Attempting to bend Zerath’s saber to the latter’s right, out of the way, that same motion would send the upper portion of Kayden’s blade into the left side of Zerath’s neck, cleaving through the crook.

Having already been on the receiving end of a powerful blow from Nightwalker, Zerath was in no hurry to square up to another so quickly. The red saber whistled through the air towards his shoulder/neck area, and Zerath made a business decision to simple not be where it was aimed.

The Jedi Knight ducked underneath his opponent's blade, and he didn't need the Force to know it had been close; part of his hood fell to the floor, slightly smoldering from contact with the lightsaber. As he ducked, Zerath switched to a one-handed grip on his lightsaber, and as Nightwalker's powerful swing reached the end of it's arc, the Mirulakan's left hand would extend out with a quick Force push. It was an instinctive move rather than a prepared one, so it wouldn't be enough to blast Nightwalker into the wall; but it might be enough to knock the Sith backwards and potentially off balance.

His Force push completed, Zerath straightened up and resumed his two-handed defensive grip. Come on, Taco!

This close to each other, it was duck or die, and Kayden might just have plucked the wings off a duck as a little boy. He knew this game well, then, and aimed to play it better than his opponent.

Blade bit blade, but one of them failed to bite a neck and drink what pumped inside it. As Zerath dodged, Kayden felt like pumping his sword into a heart but would not get that chance. This close to each other, there was no dodging that Force-push.

He staggered backwards but did not fall, the short journey removing his left hand from the hilt. Zerath would see (as far as a blind fool could see) no hate or rage on his enemy’s face; there was no angry outburst at having been so rudely pushed aside. No, there was only laughter.

“Intend to teach that one to the Twi’lek, sir!?” Kayden didn’t need an answer. He was coming again and, if this duel kept up, well, he might just come in his pants. “Teach him this!”

Left arm behind back, bent at the elbow, the Sith burst forward in a lunge, right leg leading the way to bend the knee, but not in the sense of submitting to this Jedi. Rather, right arm fully extended, the tip of Kayden’s saber would thrust forth so as to pierce Zerath’s torso beneath his immediate defense.

That wasn’t really the plan, though. Just a feint. For, as soon as he lunged, Kayden withdrew from the attack while his left hand sprung into action behind his back. Having given his opponent his right flank as he lunged, the left hand would line up with a crate behind Zerath.

Returning from the feint, then, Kayden would Force-pull the crate toward the pair. Zerath’s attention would likely still be on dealing with Kayden’s ruse as the crate came flying toward the Jedi’s back.

Zerath was all about merriment- heck, some Jedi knoew him only as "the smiling guy"- but the Sith's laugh was completely and wholly out of place. Only a fool enjoys a fight, thought Zerath to himself. I'm certainly not having fun!

Indeed, it was also beginning to look like the Sith was going to have the last laugh. Zerath, already on the defensive, bought into the feint. Only the 360 degree vision afforded by his Force Sight alerted him to the crate's approach, and even then it was too late to escape the flying box. The crate- mercifully, an empty one- crashed painfully into the Jedi Knight, sending him to the floor as the crate broke into a thousand pieces over his back. Zerath's lightsaber fell from his hand, extinguishing as it hit the floor a second after the Mirulakan did.

Ow.

Amidst a haze of pain, shock, and the fear of death, only the thought of Taco helped Zerath focus. The Twi'lek was still close by, for reasons that Zerath couldn't fathom, which meant that Zerath couldn't die- not here, not now, not just yet. So he played his part very well; the groans of pain needed no faking, but the crate had broken over his back and not his skull, which fortunately left Zerath in control of the Force as he showed the Sith what Nightwalker wanted to see- a defeated opponent, someone to laugh over, to toy with before finishing off.

All the while, Zerath would use his Force Sight to search for a similar crate somewhere behind the man, tugging on it with the Force to send it speeding at Nightwalker's back. Two could play this game.

Truth be told, Kayden had pulled that little trick to test the Miraluka’s gift of seeing through the Force. It had paid off, in a manner of speaking. After the crate cracked across Zerath’s back, Kayden bit his lip and spread both. Ouch. That had to hurt.

There he was, Zerath Eblon, on the floor like a fool, wondering why he sucked so much at living. That was the problem though, wasn’t it? Jedi and the fact that they, like monkey-lizards, existed? “Oh, get up,” Kayden chuckled. “There are more moves to this dance.” His own lightsaber was still throbbing.

That was a problem too—for Zerath. The latter had been distracted when that crate had flown toward him, dealing with the lunge, but Kayden had all faculties at his disposal. Another crate flew and he spun around to receive it.

One hand waved the crate away. It had been missing a lid. As it was jerked aside, the contents spilled out. Kark. Bottles of wine soared, a number passing harmlessly by the man as glass shattered in the warehouse.

Yet, a number made contact with the only Human in the room. A bottle struck Kayden in the shoulder, the other shoulder, pummeled his chest and stomach, kissed a knee.

Such bottles were yet designed to be durable, did not shatter against bone that close, but did not feel too good. Especially that one to the knee. OUCH!

It was now or never, with now being the only option if the disarmed Zerath didn't want to end up like the Sith's flayed victims in the adjacent room. Taking advantage of the distraction afforded by the flying, falling, and shattering wine bottles, Zerath hauled his body off the floor and flung himself at the Sith. This duel certainly wouldn't win any style points from his colleagues back at the temple- if he survived, Zerath reflected that he wouldn't be too eager to relay this duel devolving into a frantic scrum amidst bottles of Coruscant 144.

Every muscle in his aching back protested when he drove himself shoulder-first towards Nightwalker's waist in an attempted football tackle, but with the Sith's attention split, there was a chance Zerath could knock the man to the wine-soaked floor and begin raining punches down on his upper body and head.

Out of nowhere, Kayden felt something strike him from behind, and it was far heavier than a bottle. It was all he could do to fall forward, having just enough time to twist around so that he landed on his back.

What’s this!?
The thought sprang like an Achilles’ heel. That Jedi was going nuts. Punch after punch, blow after blow, hammering upon the Sith with fists. Kayden did his best to ward them off, well enough he felt while a few slipped through, but this could not last long at all.

Just then, a bay door opened and a speeder flew right in. An orange Twi’lek could be seen in the driver’s seat, now sticking his head out the window to cheer. “HEY YOU GUYS, I FOUND THE SPEEDER WOOHOOOOO!”

-BANG!-

The speeder’s side smacked into the wall, potentially knocking Taco unconscious. Kayden capitalized on that opportunity. If his opponent was not distracted by that, Kayden would force him off with a knee not yet wounded, driving it into Zerath’s side before springing to his feet.

Unfortunately, the speeder smashed into some significant piping. Both would now serve as kindling. Just as well. I had no intention of leaving evidence behind.

“You know what, Sir Knight?” Kayden spoke through dying laughter, retracting his blade into the hilt like a shriveled schlong. “You can have him. I’ve got a bike to catch.” He snapped his fingers to produce a flame that lit a cigarette between lips.

Since he is still technically high, he needed a 19 or a 20 to make it to Sector Ranger base, but a solid 17 (again!) puts him in Zerath's custody all the same.

This is most uncivilized Zerath thought to himself as he hammered away at Nightwalker with his fists. Certainly, the temple Gamorreans would've appreciated this approach, but they weren't exactly the first people Zerath sought approval from.

It was also only momentarily effective, and things somehow managed to get even more chaotic. Taco made an unforgettable entrance to the battlefield, bouncing both the speeder he was driving and his head off the wall. The Twi'lek slumped in his seat, and Zerath's concern for the youth caused him to lower his guard. The air whooshed out of the Jedi Knight's lungs as an unfriendly knee was driven below his ribcage, and Zerath rolled off Nightwalker while clutching at his side.

At least his lightsaber was there, hilt glinting softly on the floor from where he had dropped it earlier. The Knight picked it up and struggled to his feet, his left arm curled protectively over his stomach while he readied himself to defend against the attacks he was sure were coming.

The Sith, however, deactivated his lightsaber and lit a cigarette. Nightwalker's words did little to lower Zerath's guard, but the Jedi decided to take advantage of the lull and GTFO; he had the sense that he hadn't beaten Nightwalker so much as the Sith had grown tired of toying with him. Groaning softly to himself amidst injuries he knew he would feel tomorrow, Zerath hustled over to the speeder and climbed in. He pulled an unconscious Tacovean fully into the speeder so that the boy was more or less horizontal on the bench seat in the front, splayed across Zerath's lap and into the passenger seat.

"You may want to leave Coruscant" he said to the Sith. "This place will be crawling with Jedi soon." The threat was all he could do at this time to perhaps bring the planet a reprieve from the psychotic Sith; Zerath was in no shape to arrest or even defeat Nightwalker. But at least he had a chance at escaping with Taco in tow; Zerath gunned the engine, aiming for the nearest exit and leaving a fair amount of paint behind.

Kayden watched as Zerath went about rescuing the poor boy. Taco was bound to wake up with a headache but, well, that Jedi and this Sith were no less bound to wake up with some bruises of their own.

“Then they’ll be crawling over ash,” he replied while casually backing away toward an exit. “Tell your friends about Jack Nightwalker, Sir Knight. If you dare.” One last smile for his new best friend. “Till we meet again, then.”

The Jedi and his new Prostitute began to make their own exit, and that was swell, but were smart enough to not follow Kayden. For his part, he kept the cigarette between his lips and spread his arms.

Twin trails of flames fumed from fingertips, breathing fire down either side of the warehouse. It was a controlled burst, almost languid, licking floor and wall and crawling close toward one in particular which possessed broken pipes.

By the time he made it outside, hopped on his bike, the building was set alight. Furious flames began to devour the warehouse, hungry and haunting, scorching flesh and skin left behind, and that was swell for the one responsible for it all.

As the bike sped away from the inferno, Mr. Nightwalker would lose out on a Force-sensitive, senseless Twi’lek, so no real loss there. The fight, though short-lived, was fun enough. There would be other slaves and other fights. There always are.

All in all, these events, mildly diverting, had been amusing, but all games had to end. And, win or die, Kayden Skyler is playing the greatest game in the galaxy.
