In order to better keep track of new factions, requests to expand one's independent faction, as detailed from #6 of the Indie Faction Rules, are to be placed here. Applications to expand one's faction will only be accepted in this thread. Acceptance or denial of an expansion request will be made in this thread. Any questions regarding this thread are to be sent via PM or VM to myself.

-------------------------------------------

APPLICATION FORMAT

FACTION NAME: [The name of the faction.]
EXPANSION JUSTIFICATION: [Why does the faction deserve to expand? Not only list specifically why, but also provide links where applicable.]
NEW CONTENT: [What will be added with the expansion of the faction? Be specific.]

*All fields are required.

FACTION NAME: The Republic of Stienghast
EXPANSION JUSTIFICATION: The faction deserves to expand simply due to the fact that having just been founded with several threads under our belt, it is fair to assume that this proposal can be afforded. Also, it will allow for future expansion of the faction - as well as add a comical element.
NEW CONTENT: Stienghast is to invest anonymously into founding a Security Company called the Mazok Cartel - ironically run by aliens. I request the following with all future growth being asked for:

1) An Office on DSC Deadelus (with appropriate thread in the Businesses District that other companies have)
2) 76 Gammorrean Guards forming the workforce

Overall this 'company' will be a cover organization generating income for the republic. Not even the owners of the company will know who their masters are, and that is the point. As to what will happen storywise down the line, I am not sure - will they turn on the Republic when they find out, or will they live their days in ignorance? It all depends on the players!

Can you provide links relevant to the planning and founding of a new branch?

Nope, as I thought I would need permission to found it?

Something like forming a branch underneath your faction does not require approval. It would naturally split your existing resources to fill it up. Performing missions is the main method of expanding the faction to be larger than it currently is.

In that case: I shall form the branch, then re-request the expansion.

Thanks - I am easily confused!

FACTION NAME: the exchange
EXPANSION JUSTIFICATION: I believe we deserve to expand as we have grown a great deal in both our space and ground operations including multiple completed missions by our members, including one in which we icly obtain a few new weapons for our group. We now have approximately 15 characters in the group being played by 12 playwrs, with more coming every day, as such I believe it would be more than reasonable to have the exchange having grown a good deal.
NEW CONTENT: 5,000,000 credits as a result of an expanding business network and renewed slave trade in naboo sector (as per thread strictly business which can be found linked on the main page like all other threads)
E-11 blasters and EE3 blasters as per we need more guns (thread is complete ans needs to be moved after I get off work)
To meet the demands of a growing pirate group, I'd also like to add a single CR-90 corvette if possible, stock of course.

Please provide links to example missions, especially the ones where you claim to have obtained equipment and other things of the like, in your application instead of forwarding me to different threads to find myself. It's needless extra work for something that already requires a bit more than a "yes/no" than applying to a main faction.

Deal or no Deal [Completed] - In which the Compere finds himself saved by a new ally.
The Wrong Side of the Tracks [Completed Mission] - In Which Kellkar hunts down one of our former employees, someone in need of a lesson.
Strictly Business [Completed Mission] - In which the newly joined Aldir attempts to assassinate the woman hindering Exchange slaving rings.
We Need More Guns [Completed Mission] - In which Armand and Mack make their way to Hoth to find a cache of weapons.

There they are.

Apoogies, I miscounted the numbers, there are 12 characters with 10 players. Plus #13/11 on the way soon.

The new content is approved, although it is noteworthy that credits are more fluff, since economics is not very RPable, so it should not factor heavily into future acquisitions.

I just realized this thread is here, so I'll use it from now on and stop bothering you via PM. Sorry about that, Lavish.

FACTION NAME: Clan Fett

EXPANSION JUSTIFICATION: We have a pretty big roster as far as Mando clans go, and we have a very tightly forged alliance with the Hutt Cartel right now including what could be described as some kind of "financial benefactor" system, so money isn't an issue in regard to this one.

NEW CONTENT: MandalArms, a joint weapons company by Clan Fett and the Hutt Cartel, each owning 50 percent of the company. They'll start small scale by producing weapons, vehicles and the like on an on-demand basis, but hopefully they'll expand in the near future. So far, starships and the like, aside from starfighters and smaller gunships, are out of their capability, but it's definitely something they'll want to try their hands at in the future.

FACTION NAME: The Exchange

EXPANSION JUSTIFICATION: We have slowly grown larger and larger, and as we acquire more and more ships for an ever growing fleet, we need to hire more and more men and women to fly the things. Additionally, as we move more and more slaves through Naboo, we have decided to formalize our base there with a write-up. Additionally, as a criminal enterprise, a front is always necessary, as such we are including a write-up for that as well as a request for more money to fund our operations and to pay our operatives.

Hidden in Plain Sight [Closed Event] [In Progress] - In which the Exchange leadership begins to meet with the Hutt Cartel. ( This is completed as per the request of Bee, however, our planned results will be gladly sent to you or any other admins necessary.
Bloody Politics [Closed Event] [In Progress] - In which we explore the fallout of Strictly Business, including a corrupt professor from Naboo.
Prime Candidate [Completed Mission] - In which Mack takes the field once again.
The Last Suit you will ever wear [Closed][Social][Event] - A small welcome to the new members of the Exchange
My Fair Share[Completed (kinda)][Closed Event] - In which our newer member, Kl'al and Butler get to know one another. (Cancelled as Lev has been put on hold).

Our numerical expansion would be a result of our PC growth, which can be found on our main page.

NEW CONTENT: 1000 new recruits, to fully man a growing and swiftly expanding criminal enterprise.

10,000,000 Credits to pay our new recruits. (We pay very well)

Naboo Central Base
1-smugglers-lodge-birds-eye-480.jpg.jpg

A simple group of five buildings, one small barracks for the staff of the base, a larger barracks for housing and feeding slaves, as well as a storeroom for the more illicit goods being brought in through the Exchange's network of coerced and freely employed smugglers. Such goods might include ryll and other spices, sullustian artwork, weapons and exotic pets, whatever may be of interest to prospective buyers. The final building is a large almost auction house with a podium and table atop a large stage used to display the wares of the Exchange to potential buyers. This building also doubles as a mess for the staff who typically work training slaves and appraising artwork in total secrecy. In the center of all four buildings is a raised landing pad, capable of handling larger freighters, especially YV-666s and YT-1300s that the Exchange typically uses to move people about. This is the final stop for most slaves in their time under the care of the Exchange, and the place where they are distributed to buyers all along the local hyperspace routes. Slaves in this area are sold typically for over 1,000 credits for the weakest, barely usable slave. Buyers are typically made aware of upcoming sales by messages posted on certain holonet sites that allow those in the know to figure out the date and time of such meetings. This strategy has proved effective for some weeks and the Exchange sees no need to change it in any forseeable future. The buildings are located far outside the cities, closer to the more gungan controlled swamps, however, deals made with local politicians on the human end of things have assured that prying eyes will not peer too deep into what this small "mining station" is truly used for. The typical compliment of workers at the base are 20 guards, 5 artists/appraisers (experienced in art sales, weapons sales, and slave trafficking, as well as two who are more generally knowledgable), 15 trainers for the slaves, and approximately 300 slaves when fully stocked. The storeroom is capable of holding food for about double this number for durations of up to two months, as well as containing a pair of S-swoop bikes and a small cargo lifter for bringing in emergency supplies from nearby cities if necessary. The fifth and fina building is a small guardhouse and armory containing enough weapons and armor for the 20 guards stationed at the camp at all times, these weapons are taken generally fromm the Exchange's stock of weapons as the base is deemed too important not to be well defended.

Company Description'Distinctive Empowerment' is a collective of ship, vehicle and weapons engineers and mechanics who work under a common passion: high-performance ships and speeders. It was founded by a group of unidentified engineers represented by a holding in 1022. The company offer ship and vehicle modifications. They have conducted studies on many popular stock freighters, fighters and speeder and discovered the best options for each. With the old and functional “no question asked” policy the company performs services and have access to many branded illegal equipment, the kind favoured by many types in the Galaxy.

Hidden smuggling compartments, retractable gun emplacements, “alternative” transponders, internal security systems are some of the complete array of services we perform for those who love and want to make their ships and speeders unique and powerful, and, of course, have the right ammount of credits.

Are there any relevant RP's to the Fett-Hutt deal? Simply having a write-up isn't grounds for approval.

Nope, just PM agreements between me and Hutticane Matt. We were planning to roleplay it out once I've written up an already planned out character for CEO of the company, but I haven't gotten around to that yet due to real life issues (and some RP distractions... >_> )

The staff has talked the MandalArms proposal over, and I'm afraid that we've rejected it. There are a few reasons for that. One, Clan Fett currently has 180 NPCs, which is way too small to add a manufacturing company onto the faction. Additionally, there's just been a genocide of the Mandalorians. All told, there are less than one million Mandalorians left in the galaxy. Statistically speaking, that might as well be zero. Although Clan Fett was not in the Mandalore sector so it didn't face the immediate, deadly effects of the genocide, all Mandalorian factions will be feeling the pinch of its effects. We're probably not going to be approving any Mandalorian expansion requests in the foreseeable future, to reflect the fact that the Mandalorian society is virtually dead.

There is a sort of alternative that you could consider. Rather than being an offshoot of Clan Fett, the Hutt Cartel has its own manufacturing companies. Clan Fett members could always work for them. However, that's not a backdoor for gaining more assets. You could always get some weapons here and there, but no significant expansion will be approved.

If you want to pursue Clan Fett being involved in a manufacturing company, then I'd recommend going that route, and being part of a Hutt company. Just not one that's part of Clan Fett.

I hope you don't mind if I make my case in this thread. If so, I apologize.

I hear what you're saying, and it's not like I'm unaware of the situation the Mandalorians are in. The fact is we cannot sustain a company like MandalArms on our own. That's the very reason it's a 50/50 ownership split between Clan Fett and the Hutt Cartel. Both sides provide equal financial backing in the beginning, but buildings, resources to build from, and personnel to man the conveyor belts are all provided by the Cartel, whereas Clan Fett provides things that doesn't need either manpower or resources like metal, fuel or the like, such as know-how, tech designs with a shitload of battle experience taken into account, and the general Mandalorian mindset in designing the items offered by the company.

In addition, which is the big return for the Cartel aside from the profits and tech developed, the Mandalorians will provide knowhow and personnel for the more clandestine parts of the company's operations, since MandalArms will also be a front for Mandalorian and Cartel covert operations of all kinds. And since covert ops don't require the kind ofmanpower that actually staffing a company like MandalArms itself does... Basically, what it boils down to then is, the small membership of Clan Fett, and the fractured nature of the Mandalorian people, isn't a hinder in regard to MandalArms as it's written up now.

(And needless to say, just for the record, this isn't any attempt at me getting more resources for Clan Fett through some backdoor deal. It's for story purposes, and to create a MandalMotors for, if you want to call them "loyalist Mandalorians", that is to say Mandalorians who do not like the Imps, or MandalMotors for that matter.)

However, if it's about the principle of the thing - to reinforce/show clearer ICly the state of the Mandalorian people and its situation right now - then I fully understand, and I'll have no objections on the matter.

Yeah, the reinforcement and showcasing of the dire straights the Mandalorians are in is a big part of it. It's also that, even with the Hutts going in 50/50 on this, 180 people just doesn't seem like enough manpower for a business of this nature, especially a business that's acting as a front for clandestine operations. Even if they're doing things with less manpower, you still mentioned roles like providing metal and fuel, all of which would take significant manpower to get as well.

If you go with what I suggested, where it becomes a Hutt company that the Mandalorians are simply involved in, then you could still provide them with information like designs, battle experience, and the Mandalorian mindset. That better reflects the size of your faction, while also showing that this is what the Mandalorians have been reduced to (I use that term from an IC perspective). Once they were proud warriors. Now they're forced to give their knowledge to a criminal cartel. That's an interesting story, since some might see such actions as dishonorable, while others might see it as survival, and others still may see it as the best chance to stop the Sith.

There's lots of story potential by having it be a Hutt company that Clan Fett helps.
