Max watched and he observed through the Force but he didn't say anything.

He didn't say anything when Nara's determination wavered for a moment and he didn't say anything when it strengthened again and she took the pain to allow the young man a chance to die painlessly. In the end he didn't need to say anything because Nara knew what she needed to do as a Jedi.

Knew what she needed to do to rescue the poor young man from a painful end.

With his hand still on Nara's shoulder, Max knelt down in front of her so that he could look her in the eyes from her level rather than talking down to her as a Master might have done. No, he was a Knight and he had been through things like this as well and when he had he hadn't wanted a Master to lecture him but rather a comrade to talk it through with.

"We're Jedi; it's what comes naturally to us."

Reaching out, he gently closed Lorc's eyes and smiled ever so slightly.

"You did what any Jedi should have done in this situation Nara and you saved him from future pain. Gave him hope when he needed it most and ensured quarantine was not broken."
he shook his head sadly, "I know it doesn't feel like a victory today, Nara, but you've done great work here today."

Nara nodded, feeling a little numb. It didn't feel great, honestly. A long, hard day of work, running around a hospital and all they had to show for it? A few patients who'd felt a little less pain when getting worked on, and one man they couldn't even really help. Just mitigate the very worst of what could be done.

"Yeah. Yeah, I know. Still not the best day though," she admitted, letting out a small sigh. She knew there was a point to this. That there was a lesson to learn. That the path of a Jedi wasn't glory and endless heroics, earning the admiration of all around them. It was the thankless, endless drudgery of mitigating suffering and handling pain in whatever way they could. There was never going to be a happy ending to this disease. It was just going to be a matter of damage control.

Nara knew it. She just didn't have to feel happy about it.

At least the disease would be contained now. Hopefully, nobody else would try and pull that stunt again. Hopefully. Nara stretched out a little, feeling her joints click and everything ache for just a second. Slowly, she stood up again and brushed herself down. "No, we did some good work today," she said to Max, giving him a small smile. "But I think there's probably plenty more to do inside. Let's hope it's slightly less exciting than all this." She meant it truthfully.

Now there was just the long, arduous task of seeing to the sick. Trying whatever they could to help them recover and, if they couldn't, providing the means they could to let them pass with comfort, dignity and respect.

It wasn't a day of heroics. They had to be better than that.
