DESCRIPTION
The Interdictor-class star destroyer is a specialized warship once manufactured by Sienar Fleet Systems. Not intended to operate independently, as are most star destroyers, the Interdictor serves mainly as a platform for its 4 large gravity well projectors, which are capable of wrenching ships out of hyperspace, as well as preventing nearby vessels from using their hyperdrives to flee a given combat zone. They are extremely useful craft to have for blockade operations, and for dealing with the "hit-and-hype" tactics often used by guerilla forces and insurgencies. They are typically meant to be supported by other vessels in combat.

Aside from their one standout feature, however, Interdictors are very lightly armed and sparsely crewed for their size. Most of their internal space is devoted to the gravity well projectors and their associated systems, leaving very little room or power for anything else. Conventional armament consists of just 20 quad medium laser turrets, and the ship's hangar can carry 24 starfighters or light starbombers. The ship's crew consists of just 2,850 personnel, along with about 4,000 passengers. 10 kilotons of cargo can be carried, along with a standard year's worth of consumables.

In the present day, Interdictors are as rare as any other star destroyer, if not rarer. Due to their specialized role, sectors which can afford to maintain them typically have their Interdictor permanently stationed above an important planet. Many Interdictors which remain in service have not even changed orbits in decades, and are likely to have had their hyperdrives decommissioned in order to save on maintenance costs. They are still formidable vessels when used correctly, however, and are the bane of smugglers and revolutionaries alike.

LEGALITY
Restricted. Interdictor-class star destroyers are classified as capital ships under Galactic law, and possess powerful weapons. As such, civilian owners will require extra licensing to operate one legally, and will receive increased scrutiny by authorities. Even then, they are ridiculously expensive to operate; only a relatively large faction or particularly wealthy government would be able to afford it without swiftly bankrupting themselves. An individual would stand no chance.

INTENT
To create a standard interdiction vessel.

RESTRICTIONS
Interdictor cruisers are large capital ships with turbolasers along with very advanced and specialized equipment, and capital ships cannot be owned or operated by individual characters. A faction would be required to obtain and crew a ship of this size.
