So after re-reading A Canticle for Leibowitz, Saint Leibowitz and the Wild Horsewoman and playing a lot of the After the End mod for CK2, I've been jonesing to do a little bit of post-apocalyptic roleplaying.

The basic premise would be a journey from what was once northern Pennsylvania up to an area near Maine. The setting is set an indeterminate (but probably fairly long) time after a war between the USA and the USSR went hot, and now humanity is just barely picking itself up back into a new Iron Age, forming cities and kingdoms and generally getting back on track as best it can. The focus of the game wouldn't necessarily be on action - though there could be exciting scenes - and more on the worldbuilding of a neo-Iron Age northeastern USA. Think of it almost as like Canterbury Tales, but set long after society managed to nuke itself back to an earlier state. I'll warn you now, I would be doing a lot of extrapolation on what the names of current places and peoples could change into over the centuries. For example, New Jersey's name is going to become Zeze, and its capital city is called Ark n' Ork, descended from "Newark and New York", to give you a bit of a idea of what I would be doing.

The start of the plot would be a young woman, a member of the "Rooske" people (a minority no one likes but no one can seem to remember WHY they dislike them), trying to follow after a brother who has been taken from some boat people who come from further up north. Anyone who would join on would be hired on or simply joining the motley for their own personal reasons.

I don't want to put too much effort into anything yet, but if enough people show interest, I could mock up a map and work out some things with prospective players.

Sounds cool. I've been trying to come up with a diverse roleplay like this, but with a Revelation/Tribulation backstory.

Awesome, so that's two people. I'd like at least one more person before I made the time commitment to mock up a map and such, so if you two know anybody who would be interested, that'd help a lot.
