Key details are emerging.

EU and US agreed to lift all nuclear sanctions. Iran will halve its number of centrifuge, and convert nuclear facilities into science centres.

This is a momentous day.

Awesome. Nice to see some progress there.

-Iran will reduce its installed centrifuges - used to enrich uranium - by two-thirds and reduce its stockpile of low-enriched uranium
-The centrifuges that are no longer in use will be placed in storage, monitored by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)
-All of Iran's nuclear facilities will be subject to regular IAEA inspections
-Iran will redesign its heavy-water reactor in Arak so that it cannot produce weapons-grade plutonium
-US and EU sanctions related to Iran's nuclear programme will be lifted in phases, but can be brought back if Iran does not meet its obligations.

Israel isn't gonna like this. Wonder what type of covert and probably illegal thing they'll do to retaliate.

If you think this is a bad deal, then you're a fascist.

And so democracy dies with a thunderous applause. This is a solemn day.

I doubt anybody here is of the mindset that this would be a bad deal... Unless you're Israel. And while I can see why the Israeli government would, at the very least, be suspicious, I sincerely hope they don't do something utterly stupid and make a self-fulfilling prophecy of getting blown to smithereens/causing World War III.

Fox News is running the stupidest "story" with so many words in quotations it almost like they're mocking the deal.

Honestly I'm wonder what will become of the motorcycle riding magnetic bombers that had been killing off Iranian scientist. Like, if that'll stop, or get more frequent now.

I am a tad suspicious as to what a state who's government stood in session and chanted "Death to the West" wants with nuclear technology.

Energy? I doubt it - many nations would happily provide solar energy or other forms.

I think this is just going to slow down the inevitable, Iran having nuclear arms.

Wasn't the death-chanting under Mahmoud Ahmadinejad before the new guy (I've forgotten his name, I've neglected keeping up with Reuters) was put in? The guy was/is a nutcase, so I'm not surprised he'd stir such shit up.

The current chap chanted "death to America" in March, before walking into a negotiation talk.

Source pls? I'm only finding stuff from 2013, and a quote from 1995.

In all seriousness, what happens if Iran gets a nuclear weapon?

Nothing.

Edit: And as far as Death to America goes, "Muslims are scary and murderous" makes better news than "Iran comes up with catchy slogan"

The main Western power driving sanctions has butchered roughly a million (if not more) people in the Global War on Terror, during which said country used banned chemical weapons and routinely tortured people --both war crimes.

Its principal proxy in the region has slaughtered tens of thousands of Lebanese and Palestinian people. One of its key suppliers of energy is a serial human rights violator with a record of funding (in either the private or public sphere) of organizations like Al-Qaeda, Al-Nusra, and Daesh. To say nothing of its massive support of an Egyptian dictatorship which has vanished or murdered thousands of democracy activists. Oh, and this democracy-crushing, LBGT persecuting, bloodthirsty torturer is again being supplied with money (to the tune of billions a year) and weapons (he needs those Apache helicopters to turn mothers protesting the price of ful into bloody mince vapor) by the Obama Administration.

Iran, by contrast, has fought one major defensive war in the last twenty years, against a country supported both diplomatically by the US (that fraud Jimmy Carter gave Saddam his blessing to invade Iran), as well as through literal cartoonish supervillainy (like providing the Iraqi Republican Guard chemical weapons and satellite intelligence so that Saddam's Iraq could use it against Iranian soldiers --itself a war crime-- but also target collaborators --a double war crime-- and arguably civilians on the other side.) During this war, several hundred thousand if not several million (a goodly portion civilians) were killed, with continuing support by the West to Saddam Hussein during said war which allowed said war to persist quite a bit longer than World War II.

If we could somehow weaponize our Western psychological projection technology, I'm fairly certain the nukes Iran isn't even developing would rapidly become obsolete.
