In a few days, I'm planning on going to Ireland with the choir for a tour. Any advice about being both there and Northern Ireland which we visit in the latter half of the trip?

Stay away from IRA areas. You don't want a run in with those guys.

If you see people wearing full tracksuits in or around Dublin City, avoid them at all costs. We call them Skangers, or Knackers. They're like Chavs from the UK, accept with less brain cells and even less common sense.

But you'll most likely not encounter them. We've got some mediocre museums, some pretty decent galleries and all of the Distilliries are worth a trip, most of them will give you a sample of their product at the end.

Temple Bar is my favourite area of the City along with the Docks, there's a lot of culture there and a big bohemian aesthetic.

I'd really have to know what specific areas you'll be visiting to give you any proper advice:

''Northern Ireland and the rest'', doesn't exactly narrow it down.

I'm from the City, so I know how to avoid them most of the time. Although I had to fight one off of a friend after they stabbed him, I think I even posted about it on here before.

Every city and every country has their ignorant *****. America's got rednecks, the UK's got Chavs etc. etc.

So if you stick to the Touristy areas, you'll be fine.

Ya see, in the rest of the world, 1 in 1000 people are funny. In Ireland, 1 in 1000 aren't.

If you want to stay away from IRA areas, be sure to stay away from 1998 too.

We're heading to Waterford, Cork, cliffs of Mohr, Galway, Derry, Belfast, and then Dublin. Any skangers or knackers in those areas?

My first piece of advice, is to ignore everything ush says, he clearly doesn't know our country very well at all.

Secondly, Waterford, Cork, the Cliffs and Derry all have beautiful countrysides. Lush green cliffs, farms and authentic villages that are hundreds of years old.

I know Dublin better, having lived there for quite some time, I'll reccomend you go to Temple Bar, avoid long Tour Buses because they're pretty boring and lame. Visit Trinity College too, I attended there for a short time but it's one of the nicest areas of the city. Visit the Docklands at night and you get some pretty lovely scenery too.

And thats pretty much it. Ireland's pretty shit to be honest with you, we don't have very much to offer in terms of culture due to just how small the land is. Next time, go to France or Greece.

I'll be going on vacation this summer, and the choice was between Ireland or Italy. I'm of 100% Irish descent.

Needless to say, I'm going to Italy.

Despite how there's not a whole lot there in Ireland (from what you've all told me) I'd still like to go visit. I'd show up at Kaeb's door with a big bottle of Jameson and crash at his place :CHappy
