There's a serious underlying racist element to the cultural consciousness, our government has been in political deadlock for a couple of decades, austerity is driving the public mad, the church still hasn't been quite kicked out of schools or political institutions and the alcohol and drug abuse is at a pretty serious breaking point.

Then again, these kinds of problems are prevalent in most countries, so we're not exactly special in our shitness.

What expectations are people supposed to set for themselves when the world defines them as drunks? How many countries defined as drunkards aren't economically or socially bankrupt?

Explain to me how it's alright that every Irish character portrayed on television is a drunk, or has drunkard features like rosy cheeks or being always cheerful? And why are they always either incompetent police or criminals? The worst part about watching the snapchats coming out of Dublin is that some retards are playing bagpipes. Because those are real Irish instruments. I don't see anyone playing a lyre.
