Lillianne sat under the branches of the great tree that stood just beyond the Bendu Temple. Just as she had brought her previous padawan, she had decided to be unconventional again and asked Isiah to meet her under the tree. The wind sweeping across the great mountain made the leaves rustle, causing a smile to creep upon her lips as she waited.

Isiah would be surprised to see his newest trainer. She felt honored to have been blessed with two apprentices, yet she was not completely certain she was up to the task. She only hoped that Isiah would be accepting of the High Priest's latest decision.

Isiah solemnly walked towards the area the trainer had requested him to train. He was rather downcast as his two previous trainers had failed to follow through with his training, leaving him at the rank of an apprentice. He was wearing his usual black kimono and hakam though he neglected the gi and kept his shirt open, his sword at the usual resting place on his back. It was rather hot today and the trainer would end up telling him to cover up anyway when he got there so might aswell catch enough cool air now. He sighted the tree and the figure in it. Though he couldn't make out any details, yet.

"Hey, I assume you'll be the one training me?"

OOC: She isn't in the tree. She's under it. ;)

Lillianne heard him coming before he had spoken and had to stifle the laugh that threatened to give her away. Instead, she remained quiet and appeared to be lost in meditation, yet truly feeling through the Ashla what he was doing.

Feel the natural flow of life around you and silence your lips. All of your questions will be answered if you open your mind to the teaching of the Ashla....

She knew her familiar touch in his mind would ease his curiosity of his new trainer, but would also spur so many more questions. It was always interesting to see how people responded to life's little suprises....do they take them in stride or get swept away by the unforseen?

OOC: Sorry, my bad.

He was in close proximity to the tree when a feeling sparked up in his mind. Not necessarily IN his brain or "gray matter" but it was a feeling in his head. A presence that he had fealt before. Immediatly he rushed towards the tree the dangling parts of his kimono kicking up behind him. He came to a stop in front of Lilliane and smiled.

"Who'd a thought you'd be training me?"

Lillianne couldn't help the laughter now as she saw the expression upon his face. He truly was surprised and in a pleasant way. Standing up, she stood before him and held her arms out turning before him, showing him her Knight robes.

"I know! Isn't it awkward?" she asked, finally turning around to face him. "The High Priest, Josiah Rendar surprised me this week with the promotion. Yet, I vow to you I will do my best to train you to be a great Bendu Knight," she told him. "I'm sorry your training has been so difficult. The High Priest told me of your former masters."

"Well, this should be a nice turning point. I will do my best to learn from you. I do assume we won't be doing much combat training though, huh?"

Isiah laughed a little. Nothing could make him happier than being trained by a friend so all the awkward moments of getting to know your master were aside. Though he was afraid that he would slack off, that would be something he would absolutely not do. Though, having your master be your friend had to have some perks.

She smiled at his remark to her hatred of the sword and shifted her outer cloak back to reveal the blade at her side, her hand brushing the hilt and a look of disgust crossing her face.

"I would not be a good teacher if I did not train you in combat. However, we shall focus upon how to avoid combat at all possible and draw the sword only to end a life in order to save others," she advised him with a raised eyebrow.

Clasping her hands in front of her and letting the outer robe fall back into place, she began to walk around him. "Now tell me what topics you've already learned in your training and we shall begin."

Isiah couldn't help but laugh, "Learned? One master left me before we could begin. The second taught me a little of the code. That's about it."

"I see," she said and thought about where they should begin. Finally, she raised her arms in a shrug and smiled at him. "Then I guess we shall begin at the beginning. Why don't you take a seat and close your eyes, center your thoughts and focus upon the life around you."

Isiah nodded and moved back a few paces. He slowly sat down and was careful to move a few fallen twigs out of the way. Once grounded he folded his legs and placed his hands near his knees. Closing his eyes he let out a deep breath and did as he was instructed.

As he sat down, she too found a place opposite him and knelt down, closing her eyes and taking a few deep breaths.

"Now, focus upon the life force within you, focus on the blood pumping through your veins, the beating of your heart, the rhythm of your breathing, all that sustains your life, focus upon that and find the driving Force behind it all, the Ashla."

As instructed Isiah tried to clear all distractions from his mind. He was never quite good because he always picked up on small distractions. The wind, Lilly's breathing, and perhaps a twig breaking from days of strong wind. Once he was able to get his mind clear however he began to hear and feel his heart breathing. The sensation of his blood sliding and flowing through his veins. It seemed as if it were freely doing sow but it also had the force of the heart's pump behind it. There he began to feel the familiar feeling of the Ashla. It was elusive at first, like a strand of cloth just out of reach and blowing in the wind. But he managed to grab hold and was once again filled with the presence.

Lillianne winced as he grasped ahold of the Ashla and quickly reached a hand out to touch his forearm in warning.

Just follow it's flow for now and do not interrupt it's natural fluxuations, she advised him. Follow the flow through your body and then outward as it flows through all of the living things near to you. Merely observe for now, see how far you can follow its flow.

Without opening his eyes, "Sorry."

Isiah gently let go but instead began to pursue. For a little while he just felt as if he were moving within himself. Sort of like he had been shrunk and was floating within his own body. Then it crept outward, he began feeling some of the smaller creatures that roamed in the grass. As the area of what he could feel spread he could feel Lilliane in front of him and then towards the tree. Once it engulfed the tree it stopped. He didn't try to force it outward but began to focus so he could feel everthing that happened within this "sphere".

OOC: Correction of our training...lol. I've been referring to the Force as "the Ashla" when in fact it's been the "Force of Others". I'm sorry, but I won't do it again. My bad! *looks sheepish*

Lillianne sat in silence, following his progression, but not interrupting as he communed with the Force of Others and felt its influence all around them. When she thought enough time had passed, she opened her eyes and smiled at him.

"Good. Keep practicing a little more each day to reach out further, following the Force of Others, yet remember not to grasp it."

She waited for his eyes to open and for his gaze to find hers again before continuing.

"The Force of Others touched all living things and is affected by them as well. Just as it flows through and around us all, it can be affected by our actions just as we are affected by those around us doing good deeds and bad deeds. However, not all living beings can feel it's touch and sense these fluxuations. You and I can," she told him, watching his expression, waiting for that to sink in before explaining further.

OOC: I knew there was another name for it! lol

Isiah could only nod at what he was being told. He hadn't meditated much, despite the council of some of the Priests, he was always busy with something else though he felt that he may have sub-conciously avoiding it. This raised a short pang of guilt but he quickly suppresed it and looked back into Lilly's eyes.

"So, what am I up for next?"

"Before we go much further, I want to make sure you understand just who the Bendu are, our code, our way of life. You said before that your previous trainers, one of them at least, had spoken to you of the code. What do you remember about it?" she asked.

"Well, he told me a little of the cold. That it is basically means that we turn to the Force of Others for guidance, no matter the situation or circumstances."

She smiled at his answer and realized they had alot to go over. "I see. Well, I believe we'll go a bit deeper into the code, then. It is important to point out that unlike the Jedi Code, we do not view ours as a set of laws and rules that must be followed. Instead, ours is much deeper, more personal. We view it more as a prayer to Yahweh. It was written by our founder, Zios Malachor. It states what we can do by using the Ashla.

Through the Ashla, we find emotion;
Through the Ashla, we find peace;
Through the Ashla, we find knowledge;
Through the Ashla, we find passion;
Through the Ashla, we find courage;
Through the Ashla, we find eternal life;
Through the Ashla, we find love.
Love is the answer to the darkness.
Love can ignite the stars.

As Ussej Padric Bac said shortly before his death, ‘wherever your journey may take you, let this prayer be your guide. Your wings may take you so very far away from here, but always remember that this prayer is what makes you who you are’."

She paused out of reverence for the code and then looked to Isiah and began to continue. "Think upon those words for a moment and then explain to me what you believe this prayer is saying."

"All things in our lives depend on the Ashla. In anything we partake it is guiding us and granting us our rewards judged by our faith in it. Also, by up holding the moral values of our people and not delving into material needs or being selfish."

Isiah was never to good in deciphering the meanings of some things. Though if this were one of those things that however you interpreted it was right and as long as you got the basic jist then you were right. 'Jist' and 'thing' seemed to be inappropriate words to describe it.
