Ruzaan was slightly comforted by Elidan's admission that the half-Sephi had joined the adventure by his own accord, and inclined his head to acknowledge Elidan's apology. At least they were on the same page again; Ruzaan disliked conflict, especially when it was with a friend such as Elidan.

By now the garden wall wasn't far away and Ruzaan would also walk in silence; both Padawans buried in their thoughts concerning the events of the past few hours. Ruzaan thought of Elidan's bravery, and the half-Sephi's willingness to put himself in harm's way for a friend. It was an admirable quality, to be sure, but it also was the deciding factor in the Togruta's decision to abandon their quest. Ruzaan had to admit that he found himself in more than his fair share of dangerous situations, and knew he wouldn't be able to forgive himself it Elidan got hurt (or worse!) trying to save him. True, they'd worked together well- Ruzaan would later credit Elidan's presence for keeping him sane during the encounter with the machine- but for once Ruzaan chose a more cautious approach; he didn't know Elidan well enough to know what to expect when the nerf poo hit the fan.

Before he knew it, Ruzaan was staring at the hold in the garden wall leading back to the temple grounds. This time, Ruzaan remembered to pick up his lift foot only to trip anyways as the protrusion was now on his right side. With a short cry of alarm, Ruzaan faceplanted onto the ground in the garden, his embarrassment quickly turning into a sinking feeling of dread as he rolled over and stared up at the disapproving face of Asadra; apparently out for a nighttime stroll.

"And what might you be doing out so late?" she asked, arching an eyebrow. "I told you to stay in bed! Come! Back you go, and quietly! I don't want Elidan waking up and seeing your bad example."

A humbled Ruzaan nodded and accepted the scolding, but his spirits were slightly buoyed by the knowledge that Asadra hadn't seen Elidan; there was still a chance that the half-Sephi could sneak back in before Asadra returned to the infirmary with Ruzaan in tow.

When they finally arrived in front of the wall, Ruzaan was the first one to pass through the passage in the wall. Elidan was so distracted by his thoughts that he had forgotten to remind the Togruta about the protrusion on the wall. Hopefully he would not trip on it.

After his friend passed through it, Elidan went after him. He stopped when he heard Asadra's voice. He was surprised that the Healer had discovered them already. The half-Sephi had expected that she would only find them during the morning.

With his half-Sephi hearing, he could hear perfectly what she was saying. The Twi’lek seemed to be mad with Ruzaan for him being out of the bed. He widened his eyes when Asadra mentioned that Elidan was still on his bed. She didn’t notice that he had also left the room.

Since Ruzaan didn’t say anything about him, Elidan thought that he was trying to protect him from the scolding. The half-Sephi could wait for the two to walk away and sneak back to the room. This way he could avoid another punishment.

However, he wasn’t going to abandon his friend. He went after Ruzaan because he wanted to, so it would only be fair if he also faced the punishment because of it. "Thanks, but I'll not let you face it alone." he would say to the Togruta through their bond. With these words would come feelings of gratitude and friendship. The half-Sephi wanted to show to his friend that he wasn't going to face it alone. Then, Elidan walked and faced a surprised Asadra.

"Elidan! What are you doing there? You should be in the bed!" Asadra was obviously disappointed with him. "Come, we need to return to the infirmary. We will talk about what you two did later."

Before she could walk away, Elidan started to sign. He started to explain what they really did and saw. It was important, the machine and the klikniks were a danger to everyone. He also picked his Datapad, to show to Asadra the pictures that he had taken of the thing. The half-Sephi turned to Ruzaan, hoping that he would also help him explain to the Twi’lek what they had saw.

To Ruzaan's surprise and slight dismay, Elidan revealed himself and was also noticed/scolded by Asadra. However, he also felt more than a little gratitude for the half-Sephi, and Ruzaan had to admit that Elidan had acted nobly. Ruzaan was ready to take a walk of shame back to the infirmary, but he was stopped by the realization that Elidan had launched into an explanation of their adventure together.

"Um, yeah" Ruzaan said, caught off guard as Elidan looked to him for support. He saw Asadra's eyebrows narrow in suspicion and internally cursed, quickly focusing on recalling the major details so it didn't sound like he was lying... which he wasn't! It would be just like an adult to miss the truth in exchange for meting out punishment. "Elidan took a few pictures of the machine- see?- that was making the klikniks act really weird. If it hadn't been for Elidan here I'd have been going crazy right along with them!" He wanted to say more but he stopped as Elidan produced the photos for Asadra to inspect, his breath caught in his throat as he waited for the Twi'lek to come to a conclusion.

Elidan smiled when Ruzaan helped him explain to Asdra what happened. While only he was explaining the situation to the Twi’lek, she didn’t seem to believe in him. Probably she thought that he was making this story to protect the Togruta from possible punishment.

When Asadra started to see the pictures of the machine, Elidan noticed how her face changed while she looked at it. At first the Twi’lek seemed to be skeptical, but it soon changed to surprise. "Where did you two find this?" she asked, her voice showing that she was nervous. The half-Sephi knew her for five years and he had never seen Twi’lek this way.

He would sign to her, explaining that they had found the machine in a clearing that wasn't much far away from the Temple. "This isn't good. I'll show it to the Council immediately." Elidan smiled, they did something important and perhaps they would not be punished because of it.

However, he was wrong. Even with them having made an important discovery, Asadra would not ignore that they disobeyed her. "You two are going to the infirmary immediately! You could have died going there alone at night!"

After saying it, she would guide the two back to the infirmary. Once they arrived there, Asadra watched them return to their beds. "Now you two need to rest! The Council will probably want to talk with you two later." then she turned to Elidan. "I'll take your Datapad to show the pictures to the Council. I'll give it back to you later, ok?" the half-Sephi nodded in agreement.

When she left them alone, Elidan would turn to Ruzaan. "I appreciate that you didn't want to say that I was with you. But you are my friend now and I couldn’t let you be punished alone." the Togruta would feel gratitude coming from the half-Sephi through the bond. He would never let a friend suffer alone.

Ruzaan mentally updated his opinion of Asadra; unlike many adults, she was able to set aside her prior judgement when presented with new information. That much was plain to see as the Twi'lek glanced through the photos on Elidan's datapad... no wonder Elidan trusted Asadra so much.

While part of him still hoped to escape punishment for their unsanctioned adventure, Ruzaan didn't complain when the healer firmly ordered them back to the infirmary. While he didn't fully comprehend the seriousness of the machine they'd found, they'd managed to gather enough evidence to (hopefully) offset their truancy. Ruzaan couldn't help but flash a vindicated smile in Elidan's direction as they were marched back to the infirmary.

There was something else he was optimistic about- Elidan's chances to become a great Jedi. Many other padawans would've taken the "out" and saved their own skin, but it was becoming increasingly clearer to Ruzaan that his new friend was more noble than that.

[Thanks} he replied to Elidan's explanation. [I do appreciate it... and I think you did the right thing. Besides, you had the pictures on your datapad.] Ruzaan flushed slightly as he realized that he'd forgotten all about the significance of their findings as soon as it looked like they were going to get in trouble... potentially leaving valuable information out of the picture. [You did the selfless thing.] The Togruta's words would be matched by feelings of gratitude through their bond.

One other thought occurred to Ruzaan as he laid down back in the infirmary bed that he'd previously occupied. [Uh, this Force bond thing... we can turn it off, right?] Sometimes he had really weird dreams, and he didn't want to bother Elidan with mental images of being chased by a giant can of Emryc Energy...

Elidan was happy. They had returned safely to the Temple and Ruzaan wasn’t mad at him for what happened early. Hearing the other boy say that what he did was right, also helped the half-Sephi feel this way. He could be happy because of it, but the half-Sephi ended also blushing. The auburn-haired boy wasn’t used to receiving praises.

But if it wasn't for you, we would not have destroyed the machine. You are very brave.” now was the time for Elidan to give some praise to Ruzaan. After all, the Togruta had done the most difficult part. “I think that we work well as a duo.” his friend would be able to feel happiness and gratitude coming through the bond.

Yes, I can finish it.” it was good that Ruzaan had reminded him of it. Elidan didn’t want to have the Togruta seeing his nightmares about Ajan Kloss. “Good night, Ruz.” he said one last time, before closing the bond and turning at the bed to sleep. The half-Sephi suspected that tomorrow was going to be a long day.

—-------------------------

Elidan woke up still feeling tired. It was obvious that it was going to happen, they had lost some hours of sleep with their small trip into the forest. At least he didn’t have any nightmares. In reality he had good dreams, but unfortunately he couldn’t remember what happened in them.

Good morning.” Asadra arrived at the infirmary, she was with a male Duro Jedi Knight and both were carrying trails with food. The Twi’lek gave the one that she was carrying to Ruzaan, while the other Jedi gave the other to Elidan. “After you two finish breakfast, the Council is going to talk with you two.

The half-Sephi nodded in agreement. He knew that the Council would want to know what they had seen and they were also going to receive a punishment because of it. Then Elidan remembered something important. “Did any Knight go after the machine in the clearing?

Asadra’s face changed to one of concern before she started to speak. “Yes, some Knights went there to investigate. They found the clearing and some marks in the grass, but there was no machine.” Elidan stared wide eyed at the Twi’lek and then turned to Ruzaan. What in all the hells happened with it?

"Good morning" said Asadra as she entered the infirmary, food in hand.

"GAH!" shouted Ruzaan as he was startled awake from a sound, if short, sleep. Limbs flailed and panic ensued as he fought with his sheets and nearly fell out of his bed before coming to his senses and freezing in place, still half-cocooned in his blankets. The Togruta glanced back and forth around the room, taking in Elidan and Asadra's calm demeanor, before weakly grinning. "Er, g'mornin" he mumbled, embarrassed. He tried to blink away his fatigue and found that he couldn't; already, the consequences of last night's adventure were quickly becoming apparent. Elidan looked tired as well.

Ruzaan was too busy eating breakfast to spend much time interpreting Elidan's sign language when it wasn't directed at him, and missed the half-Sephi's question. Asadra's verbal answer, however, shocked him, and the Togruta stopped eating mid-bite. "How did the owner of the machine know it had been destroyed? Nobody but us were there, unless..." An uncomfortable feeling of fear scurried its way up and down his back as he realized the significance of the missing machine. "...unless they were somehow watching. You can do that with technology, right?" The uncomfortable silence that followed his question confirmed his fears; both he and Elidan would be on whatever surveillance footage had been captured.

Ruzaan tried to think back to the moments following the destruction of the machine. He and Elidan had taken some photos, but they hadn't properly searched the clearing for more clues because of their argument and had left shortly thereafter. "Good thing Elidan took some photos" he finally managed. Suddenly he found that his appetite was gone, and he set his half-eaten breakfast on the tray. "Thanks for believing us" he said to Asadra. "And I'm sorry that we snuck off last night." It was the least he could do to apologize to the kind-hearted healer.

Ruzaan’s suddenly scream scared Elidan. The half-Sephi saw his friend fall from the bed, still covered with his blankets. The scene could be considered funny, with the Togruta looking around with a confused and tired face. However, the auburn-haired boy thought that it was also cute. Even more when Ruz mumbled while blinking.

For some silly reason, it made Elidan want to hug him. Probably because he was afraid that his friend could have gotten hurt from the fall, this was the only explanation for it. The half-Sephi was blushing because of these thoughts and without him knowing, Asadra had noticed it.

However, these thoughts needed to be ignored. The knowledge that someone was watching them all the time sent a shiver down his spine. Who could have made it? Were they still out there? The Padawan had so many questions, but he doubted that they were going to be answered any time soon. Their only physical proof disappeared and if it wasn't for the pictures, no one would have believed in them.

Ruzaan’s comment made Asadra smile. “I’m an empath, even without the pictures I knew that you two weren’t lying. You two did something good. If it wasn't for you two, this machine would still be causing problems.” then her smile disappeared. “However, you still broke rulers. Don’t do that again!

After the two Padawans finished their breakfast, Asadra escorted the two to the Council room. Apparently, Grandmaster Alexandria Voran herself was going to talk with them. Elidan hoped that their punishment would not be something too bad.

Alex sat alone in the Council Chamber. Lena and Tedimor were off world on other business. In the highest reaches of the Temple, she waited. Empty seats spread out on either side of the Grandmaster. The imagery was not lost on her. They were so few. Alex took a deep breath. With her fellow Council members at other Temples, this task fell to her. Elidan and Ruzaan had been caught outside the Temple without permission.

The Order was not a prison, but some rules were meant to protect the Padawans. Even Yavin was not completely safe at night. Her strength had limits. She scrolled through the report on the incident. Ruzaan and Eildan would have been low on her list of rulebreakers…it did seem they had a good reason. Although, the investigation had not turned up much helpful evidence. She would see what the Padawans explanation included.

The Grandmaster waited until the chamber doors opened and the young Jedi were escorted in. Her face remained carefully neutral while they took their place in the center of the room. Even with the empty seat, Alex remained imposing. “Elidan.” Her eyes flicked to his companion. “Ruzaan.” She nodded for Asadra to leave them. The doors closed with a click. “I hear you were enjoying the Yavin night life.” She raised an eyebrow. Her tone was not accusatory. “I’d like to hear why.” Alex shifted slightly in her seat. She pointed at Elidan and lowered her mental walls. “No datapad or signing.” There was more than one lesson to be had with the Grandmaster.

The Council chambers were empty, and Ruzaan was glad he wasn't wearing shoes lest the sounds of his footfalls echo throughout the imposing meeting place. The Togruta had been in this room before, but only on a few occasions and never for disciplinary reasons. Only Grandmaster Voran was present here today, which did little to calm his nerves. The Morellian's mere presence filled the room and as the doors to the chamber swung shut behind Asadra, Ruzaan took a breath to calm himself before the Grandmaster.

Ruzaan glanced over at Elidan after Master Voran commanded- no, invited- them to speak. The Togruta tried to remind himself that the Morellian was as much their advocate as she was their discipliner, and that there was important information to convey regardless of the outcome. After a quick glance over towards Elidan to confirm that the half-Sephi was ok with him starting the conversation, Ruzaan launched into an explanation of the afternoon's events.

He started with a brief account of the kliknik's abduction of young Kift uncomfortably close to temple grounds, recounting the rescue and making sure to stress Elidan's bravery and assistance helping to heal the worst of Kift's injuries; likely saving the youngling's life in the process. Then came time to discuss the night's events, and Ruzaan briefly hesitated before deciding that there was nothing to be gained by trying to escape whatever punishment would be leveled at them. "The second time, when we went back, was my idea" he said, knowing it to be true. His voice quavered a bit as he felt shame for breaking the rules, and now he felt bad for dragging Elidan into this mess. "Elidan came along so I wouldn't be alone... but we also found a strange machine, and..." he trailed off, looking over towards his fellow Padawan for assistance. Elidan had taken the photos of the smashed device, and was better qualified to speak about the kliknik-controlling machine they'd found.

On the few occasions that Elidan visited the Council chambers was to hear instructions of the missions that he was going into. Even during these times, the Padawan felt intimidated by the Jedi Master. Now that he was there because he did something wrong, the half-Sephi felt even worse.

At least only Master Voran was there. After they had met at the gardens, Elidan had started to think that she was less intimidating. However, he knew that she was mad because of what they did. The half-Sephi really hoped that Ruzaan was right and because of the machine that they discovered the punishment would not be so bad.

Elidan nodded when Alexandria said that he should use telepathy to talk with her. However,he decided to let Ruzaan do the talking. Trying to make something to help the Togruta tell the events, the Padawan projected his memories of what happened to the Grandmaster. This way she would also see what Ruz was talking about.

When Ruzaan mentioned the machine and looked at him, Elidan pulled his Datapad and approached the Grandmaster. Then he showed the pictures to her. “The machine was sending some type of sound or vibration that was controlling the klikniks. It was also affecting me and Ruzaan. It made us act with anger and I couldn’t focus on using the Force.” he said through telepathy. “This machine was terrible. Only something evil could build something like that.

She listened carefully as Elidan and Ruzaan explained themselves. Her only expression a slight downturn in the corners of her mouth. Troubling. Yavin was their safest Temple. Ossus, New Alderaan, and Lothal paled in comparison. These grounds were the congregation of their strength. What the Padawans described was concerning. Alex carefully reviewed the images on the datapad, nodding thoughtfully to Elidan as his words sprinkled her mind. She leaned forward, stood, and sighed. Alex walked over to the large windows overlooking the jungle. She let the silence hang while her thoughts turned over.

“You both know better.” She rubbed at her jaw. “What you did was dangerous and reckless. You should have asked for help.” She turned to face them. “Next time you will ask for help. We are family…there was no reason to take this on alone.” Alex walked over and put her hands on the back of her seat. “But I'm proud of what you’ve done. Both of you have shown compassion, courage, and some intuition.” Her face relaxed. “You’re not in trouble but you need to do better.”

Alex looked at Elidan and Ruuzan in turn. “You can do better. We never have to face these challenges alone.” Her eyes flicked upward while she pondered what to do next. “What you found is deeply concerning and you will get to the bottom of it…that is your penance.” She stayed standing while she spoke. “You’ll report directly to me anything that you discover and if you find yourself in a similarly dangerous situation you ask for help. Understood?” Ruzaan and Elidan were not the youngest Padawans. They were closer to Knights than younglings, but the rules still applied. Until their training was complete the safeguards remained. Even then, she did not like the idea of Jedi prowling the jungle alone at night.

After the Padawans finished explaining what they did and saw, a heavy silence fell over the room. Elidan feared how Master Voran was going to react to all that. He always considered her to be calm, never getting mad at anything. However, they had broken the rules and something needed to be done.

When she started talking, Elidan braced himself for the scolding that they were going to receive. However, it never came. Rather than saying how much what they did was stupid and dangerous, the Grandmaster praised them. The half-Sephi stared at her wide eyed. Did he hear that correctly?

After his surprise ended, Elidan paid attention to what the Grandmaster was talking about. The presence of this machine at Yavin was really concerning. They were not only a risk to the Jedi Order due to its capacity of confusing their minds, but also showed that someone was able to put them in a Jedi controlled planet without no one noticing. It needed to be investigated.

However, the half-Sephi didn’t expect that Alex was going to assign the two to do it. They were only Padawans, not even close to being consecrated as knights. But the Grandmaster was wise, if she believed that the two would be capable of solving this mystery, then it must be true.

Of course, Master Voran. We are going to discover what is happening.” then he turned to Ruzaan. He wondered if the Togruta was surprised like him. This wasn’t the punishment that he thought that they were going to receive.

Throughout Grandmaster Voran's verdict, Ruzaan kept waiting for the other foot to drop- a punishment, a loss of privileges, or other penalty- but it never arrived. Aside from a scolding on asking for help when needed, the two Padawans were more or less unpunished. Even better, they were charged with the task of continuing to delve into the mystery of the machines. Slightly confused but generally elated by the outcome (weren't they supposed to be in trouble?), Ruzaan bowed respectfully to the Grandmaster before beating a hasty retreat out of the Council chambers.

No sooner had the doors to the council chambers clicked shut behind them, than Ruzaan was excitedly turning towards Elidan. The Togruta beamed at his friend, hardly believing their luck. "I can't believe it!" he exclaimed happily, "I thought for sure we'd get sentenced to some boring work in the archives or something." Instead, he would get to investigate this mystery further with his friend. Ruzaan's mood was unquestionably bubbly as he tried to calm down enough to figure out the beginnings of a plan. "And now we get to keep exploring! Where should we start?"

After the meeting ended, Elidan felt relieved. Rather than receiving a punishment due to their actions, Grandmaster Voran had given them an important mission. Even with him sometimes doubting his abilities, the half-Sephi would not disappoint Alex. He and Ruzaan would work together to find who was making these machines. He knew it!

Elidan bowed at Alex and followed his friend out of the Council room. He smiled at how excited the Togruta was with this mission. Well, the half-Sephi was too. He had never heard about an investigation being made only by Padawans. This was a great responsibility, but he knew that they were capable of doing it.

Yes! I thought that you would be sent to polish and organize the equipment at the training grounds.” for Elidan, this could be the worst punishment that they could receive. Being at the Archives could be at least a bit fun for him. He could read some interesting holobooks while they worked.

Bringing his left hand to his chin, Elidan reflected about how they could start their investigation. When he had an idea, the half-Sephi signed to his friend. “I think that we could start by looking around the clearing where we found the machine. Who took the thing from there could have left some clue there. Then, we go through the path that the klikniks went after it was destroyed.” the auburn-haired Padawan suspected that it could also be related to the machine. Following the path of the creatures could help in their investigation.

As Elidan started signing, Ruzaan quickly held up his own hands to stem the flow of words. Elidan was far more proficient in sign language than he was, and the Togruta was getting left behind as the half-Sephi's hands blurred. "Could we to the... the thing?" he asked, motioning to his head and then to Elidan's to try and indicate the Force bond that they'd shared earlier. "I think it's easier than signing, for me at least" he admitted.

Elidan was surprised that Ruzaan wanted to communicate through the mental link again. Even with it being an easier and faster way to talk in comparison with sign language, the half-Sephi had considered that telepathy should only be used on special occasions, such as last night.

However, if Ruzaan wanted to do it, Elidan agreed. Focusing on his friend's mind, the half-Sephi re-establishes their mental link. With this connection between them, the auburn-haired boy once again tells the Togruta his plan of returning to the clearing and starting their investigation there.

I believe that whoever took the remains of the machine must have left some type of clue. After we look around there, we can also follow the path that the klikniks used. I think that there is something more happening in the place where they went.” in Elidan’s opinion, this was the best and most logical course of action that they could follow.

If Ruzaan agreed with this plan, Elidan would also say to his friend that they should take some supplies with them. After all, they don’t know how long they are going to stay in the jungle. Food and water would be necessary for a long investigation there.

Establishing the mental bond with Elidan was easier the second time- perhaps it was because Ruzaan knew what to expect, or perhaps it was because the Togruta was more comfortable around his friend. Whatever the case, soon Ruzaan was listening to and agreeing with Elidan's plan.

[I think the kliknik tracks would be easier to follow, but we can always see if the machine's owner left any clues around] he replied mentally, his excitement giving way to seriousness as they began planning their investigation. Food and water were also a good idea, and after stopping by the kitchens for provisions Ruzaan walked with Elidan out of the temple and into the jungles of Yavin IV.

Ruzaan found this trip much more pleasant than the last time. Gone was the risk of being caught by other Jedi for being AWOL, and the sun, while often hidden behind the clouds, brought more light with which to search and generally eased the Togruta's fears of being ambushed. It also made avoiding the roots he had tripped over last night much easier, and the two Padawans made good time as they headed towards the clearing.

As they walked, Ruzaan allowed his mind to wander as they picked their way through the underbrush. He wanted to get to know Elidan better, but he was having trouble deciding on a good question to ask the half-Sephi. Finally, he decided on a safe icebreaker.

[So, if you could be any animal in the galaxy, what would you be and why?]

After they agreed with the plan, the two Padawans went to collect the supplies that would be necessary for their investigation. Elidan went into his room to recharge his datapad a little bit, grab a bottle and a medical kit. Before leaving the Temple, they also stopped at the kitchen, where they filled their bottles with water and picked some food.

This time leaving the Temple was calmer and easier. There wasn’t the need of the two hiding in the shadows, to avoid being seen by the adults. This time they walked through the main entrance, even doing a small pause to talk with the Sentinels. Apparently, Master Voran had already told them what the two were going to do.

The walking through the forest was also better this time. Even with the day being a bit cloudy, there was much more light for them to see their path. There would not be the risk of any of them tripping in a root and falling with their face on the floor. This would also allow the Padawans to see if something was approaching.

When the Togruta made his question, Elidan turned his head to him. The half-Sephi never thought about it. What type of animal would he like to be? Maybe some bird. “A convor, I guess. To fly free in the sky, without needing to be afraid of anything.” he knew that it was possible to use a ship to do it, but it wouldn”t the same. In his opinion, there wasn’t freedom in it because the pilot was still caged inside a structure of durasteel. While the birds can do it by themselves. It was a true example of freedom.

And you? What animal would you like to be and why?” Elidan repeated the question do Ruuzan. Now he was really curious to know which one his friend wanted to be. With him being a Togruta, the half-Sephi wondered if he wanted to be some type of predator.

Ruzaan couldn't help but smile as Elidan described which animal he'd be; a Convor was an elegant owl that seemed a fitting choice, given the half-Sephi's reserved and gentle disposition. [I think you'd make an excellent Convor!] he replied to his friend.

Ruzaan didn't have to think long as the question was turned back to him. Part of him wanted to name some kind of apex predator, like a Wampa or a Nexu, but he was drawn to the idea of flight as well. [I think it'd be fun to be a Thranta] he said. [Flying sounds fun, and I don't think they have any natural predators.]

Further questions from the Togruta were not immediately forthcoming as Ruzaan got distracted by the mental image of Elidan as a Convor. Elidan would sense Ruzaan's amusement and simple delight at the comparison through their mental bond as the two continued towards the clearing.
