Elidan smiled when Ruzaan said that he would make a good convor. His friend would be able to feel his amusement through their connection. After this time that they were together, the half-Sephi started to notice that the Togruta was someone so cheerful and innocent. He hoped that even after Ruz became a Knight, he would continue this way.

Thrantas are really cool animals! It’s sad that after Alderaan was destroyed, so few of them remained.” Elidan said, after Ruzaan answered which animal he would like to be. The half-Sephi had read about how some species of this magnificent creature were moved to Bespin and still lived there. However, for him it was still sad that these Thrantas would never be able to see the homeworld of their ancestors.

When he felt Ruzaan’s amusement through their mental bond, Elidan smiled. He could see some glimpses of the Togruta’s thoughts, where the half-Sephi was a convor. “Do you know, if I was a convor and you a Thranta, we could fly together through the sky. Maybe even going on some adventures.” now would be Ruz the one feeling the auburn-haired boy’s amusement with this comparison.

After walking for some time, the two would arrive at the clearing. It seemed so calm, there wasn’t any trace that the klikniks were there last night. They needed to start looking there, it was impossible that it vanished without leaving any trace. “Since you used to hunt on Shili, I think that you would be able to find clues more easily than me.” Elidan believed that with his trained eyes, Ruzaan would be able to notice a footstep or a mark left there. “We need to walk there carefully too. Any wrong movement can destroy the crime scene.” he had seen it in an Holonet series about investigation and thought that it could be a good moment to say it.

The smile stayed on Ruzaan's lips as he and Elidan approached the clearing; indeed, it didn't take too much to imagine the pair of them soaring off on an adventure together as winged creatures. In a way, that's precisely what they were doing now- with the official blessing of the Grandmaster on their investigation, the two Padawans had enormous freedom to search for clues and other evidence. Instead of worrying about breaking rules, they were emboldened to search for answers.

It also became clear to Ruzaan that his friend had some experience investigating, and the Togruta was happy to follow his friend's advice. Inwardly, he marveled at Elidan's growth over the past several hours; the half-Sephi had gone from a somewhat reluctant accomplice to a fast friend who was comfortable taking the lead on things. Truly, anyone who disregarded Elidan because of his silence was missing out.

Following Elidan's instructions, Ruzaan began inspecting the clearing. It immediately became clear that the crime scene was already quite disturbed. There was a large hole in the ground where the machine had been, indicating that it had extended some 3 feet into the ground, as well as some small pieces of the machine from when the branch had crushed it. The clearing itself was a disaster, as one would expect from a place that had been torn apart by klikniks, but there was also evidence of some heavier machinery- most notably, tread marks in some areas- that indicated outside involvement. Ruzaan spent some time investigating before reconvening with Elidan to share his findings.

[Looks like they had to bring in some kind of transport to move the branch off of the machine and clean it up] he relayed. [But the klikniks we saw last night went in a different direction than the transport did.]

His tone relayed his confidence that he could track both groups, but his search hadn't uncovered who or what was behind the machine. [What did you find?]

Elidan watched Ruzaan enter in the clearing and start to look around. He did right in asking his friend to be the first to look for clues. The way that the Togruta moved around the place, with trained eyes moving in search of anything that could help in their investigation, showed how the other boy's experiences in hunts was going to be useful in their mission.

Before leaving the Temple, he had stopped to grab some items used by Jedi investigators that could be useful for their mission. After all, they were doing the job of a Jedi investigator. Elidan had brought a small investigation kit. Pulling it from his bag, the half-Sephi entered the clearing.

He stopped after noticing that at the place where the branch had crushed the machine there were still some small pieces of it. The half-Sephi picked from the kit some plastic bags and tweezers. Elidan had seen people using it to collect evidence in Holomovies, so he had thought that it would be the correct thing to do.

After collecting this evidence, the half-Sephi would use his datapad to take pictures of the marks on the ground that the Togruta had found. Then, he sent it to the Temple. While he looked around the clearing, Elidan found something shining on the grass. He picked it with the tweezers and identified it as some type of brooch. It was black and had a seven-pointed star carved on it. The auburn-haired boy placed it on one of the plastic bags.

When he reconvened with Ruzaan, Elidan showed him the plastic bag with the brooch. “Have you ever seen something like that before? I have no idea what this symbol means, but we can bring it to the Temple and try to study it.” there should be some article about a five pointed star somewhere on the Holonet or in the Archives.

Elidan walked toward the tracks that Ruzaan mentioned. He crouched trying to see anything beyond them, but without success. He wasn’t a trained hunter like his friend. “I think that we should follow the marks left behind by this transport. While we still need to investigate what happened with the klikniks, these tracks are proof that the ones behind the machine were there. This could guide us to more answers.“ he knew that it could be dangerous, but he was already prepared to call for help if it was necessary. “If we find someone, I'll call the Temple. What do you think?

Ruzaan shouldn't have been surprised by Elidan's success by now but he still marveled at his friend, who had thought to bring a fancy investigative kit. The decision was met with encouraging results, and Ruzaan was impressed with the thoroughness of Elidan's search. [I've not seen this seven-sided star before] he said, scrunching up his face as he racked his brain for any possible connections. [Go Fish.]

Ruzaan was only too happy to agree with the half-Sephi as Elidan raised the idea of following the transport. He was still very interested in the kliknik's odd behavior, but given how close he'd been to a midnight snack earlier, Elidan would sense relief from Ruzaan through their bond. [Good idea. No guarantee that I can follow the trail, but...]

The Togruta trailed off as he peered in the direction that the tread tracks led. [...but it looks like whoever it was didn't get very far.] A gust of wind rustled the leaves enough to make out something metallic in the distance, and Ruzaan's hand dropped to his lightsaber as he realized that the transport had crashed against a tree. [Might want to call the Temple] he suggested. [Then we should see if that transport is occupied or not.]

Even with it being improbable, Elidan had hoped that Ruzaan would have known what the symbol on this brooch meant. This could end the investigation faster. The reason why the Padawan wanted it to end fast wasn’t because it would end their punishment, but because it would mean that they were going to discover who was behind these terrible machines. The half-Sephi could be overreacting, but he felt that they were a danger for the Galaxy.

When Ruzaan said that there was no guarantee that he could follow the trail, Elidan smiled and moved his left hand to rest on his friend's shoulder. "I believe that you can do it. You found so many clues! I believe that you can easily follow these tracks." the Togruta was really incredible while looking at the clearing. The half-Sephi was certain that he should be one of the best trackers and hunters of Shili.

In the end, they didn’t need to follow the tracks so much. At some meters of the clearing was the transport that was used to move the machine. It had crashed in a tree. Elidan wondered if they had abandoned it, maybe they were in a hurry and didn't have time to fix it. "Yes, I'll tell the Temple what we found." the half-Sephi said, before typing the information of what they found and the location. Then, he sent it.

He would follow Ruzaan toward the transport, walking slowly and carefully. The Padawan was prepared to pull his lightsaber at any signal of danger. When the two stopped in front of it, they would see that the vehicle was empty. This confirms Elidan's suspicion that whoever was driving it had left it behind. There wasn’t any signal of the remains of the machine on it. The half-Sephi picked up his Datapad and started to take pictures of the scene. "Do you think that they could have carried it with them? I believe that they were in a hurry. Maybe they thought that when we left the clearing it was because we were going to tell the others. They could have been desperate to avoid being found."

Then, Elidan’s Datapad started to bip. He had received a message. "Some Jedi investigators are coming to pick the vehicle. We can analyze it calmly back at the Temple." he told Ruzaan what the message was saying. "Before they arrive, I think that we could look around. If they were carrying a heavy machine, they could have left some footsteps behind."

[Judging by the size of that hole, I'm not sure any one person could carry that] Ruzaan pointed out. [Tracking one person through this jungle will be nearly impossible.] The Togruta's brow furrowed as he pondered what to do next. [I agree, let's take a look at the transport; I can see if there's any kind of trail to pick up from the driver.] With that, Ruzaan started walking towards the immobilized transport vehicle.

As he got closer, more details became apparent. There were no logos or other distinguishing features on the transport, which appeared to be some kind of tracked crawler like the ones used in mining operations. It had an open cab and a bed on the back for hauling ore, and its hood was crumpled around a thick tree trunk. Sunlight glinted off of metal in the bed, flashing in Ruzaan's eyes and sending spots dancing in his field of vision.

If Ruzaan hadn't tripped over a tree root, the blaster bolt would've found its mark right between his eyes; as it was, his stumble meant that the bolt missed and whined off into the jungle before impacting on a tree trunk back by Elidan. Ruzaan dove for cover, unable to pin down exactly where the shot came from, and ignited one side of his lightsaber. [We're not alone!] he sent over to Elidan, hoping that whatever was targeting them hadn't also gotten the drop on his half-Sephi friend.

Elidan looked at the transport. Indeed, the hole at the clearing showed that the machine was very heavy. Few sentient being in the galaxy would be able to carry it without any type of help. However, there was nothing on it. Perhaps they had used another vehicle to carry the machine after this one collided against the tree.

While Ruzaan looked around the transport, Elidan opened the investigation kit. He searched inside it for the equipment necessary to reveal and collect any fingerprints that could have been left behind. After finding it, the Padawan stopped to read the instructions that came with it. After all, he wasn’t a CSI of Coruscant. He had no idea how to use most of these things inside the kit.

The Padawan was so distracted trying to understand the instructions that he didn’t notice his friend falling on the floor. However, the sound of a blaster hitting the tree next to him interrupted his concentration, making him drop what he was reading. Elidan crouched on the floor and crawled toward where Ruzaan was taking cover. He also activated his lightsaber.

I didn’t see where the shot came from, but I think that we can use the transport as cover.” Elidan said, before moving toward it. Giving a quick look to the other side of the jungle, the half-Sephi was able to see for some seconds what seemed to be a droid holding a blaster. The thing fired against him, but missed when the auburn-haired boy hid behind the transport.

It’s some type of droid.” he explained to Ruzaan, while sharing with him through the mental link the images of what he had seen. “We need to destroy it before the other Jedi arrive. Maybe we could split and attack it from different directions. What do you think?” this could be their best option, but if his friend had another idea, he would happily hear it.

Ruzaan breathed a sigh of relief as Elidan quickly joined him behind the tree trunk; apparently no worse for the wear. Occasional blasterfire continued to eat into the bark, and Ruzaan's montrals picked up the sound of branches snapping underfoot; their attacker was rotating clockwise to try and get a clean shot. The Togruta grabbed Elidan's wrist and pulled the half-Sephi further into cover.

[You're right- I think there's just one] he said. [Splitting up is a good idea- I can draw its attention while you move to a different tree?]

If the other padawan agreed, Ruzaan would step out from behind the trunk on the left side, igniting both sides of his double-bladed saber in order to give him the best chance at defending himself against the hail of incoming fire. If Elidan disagreed or had a different plan, Ruzaan would continue to scooch them clockwise around the tree trunk to stay out of the line of fire of the droid.

Behind the trunk where they were hiding, Elidan would hear the occasional sound of blasters hitting the tree. Whoever was using this transport had left this droid behind to protect it. This raises the possibility that they planned to return to retrieve the vehicle. The half-Sephi hoped that the other Jedi would arrive there before the people behind the machine return.

Another shot hit the tree. Elidan turned to look at Ruzaan, feeling relieved when he saw that his friend was fine. With his half-Sephi hearing, he could hear that the droid was moving, probably trying to find a way to hit them directly. This was another problem, if they didn’t act soon, their foe was going to approach the trunk and attack them.

Then, he felt Ruzaan grab his wrist and pull him close and further behind the trunk. Elidan was unsure if they should follow the Togruta’s plan. Yes, the idea of splitting was his, but he was going to offer himself as the bait for the droid. He didn’t want his friend to expose himself to danger.

However, it wasn’t the moment to argue about that. “Yes, I agree. You can distract it while I move around the trees to find a position to strike.” then he smiled at Ruzaan. “Be careful, Ruz.” the Togruta would be able to feel through their bond how Elidan cared and trusted him.

After Ruzaan stepped out of the trunk, Elidan gathered the Force around himself. While the droid was concentrated firing its blaster against the Togruta, the auburn-haired boy would use the Force to enhance his movements, allowing him to move fast toward the other tree. He was fast enough to hide behind it before the droid could see him properly.

However, the droid seemed to have noticed that something had happened and started to move toward the tree. It still had a blaster pointed toward Ruzaan and his head never left the Togruta’s position. If the droid was a bit closer, Elidan would be able to cut its legs. He only needed his friend to continue distracting it.

Ruzaan breathed a sigh of relief that he hadn't realized he'd been holding when Elidan agreed to his plan; part of him knew he was tempting fate by consistently taking on the most dangerous roles in his plans, but he couldn't bear to ask someone else to do something that he wasn't willing to do himself. His friends' concern touched him, and Elidan would receive back the immense amount of trust that Ruzaan was putting in him to take out the droid.

As Ruzaan stepped out from behind the cover of the tree, lightsaber ignited, he was immediately greeted with a hail of fire from the droid. The Togruta quickly found himself fighting for his life and being driven backwards by the sheer volume of fire; it was everything he could do to turn aside the multitude of incoming blaster bolts.

It was a recipe for disaster, and, as had often happened throughout the course of the mission, Ruzaan tripped on a root. With a short cry of alarm, the Togruta fell backwards and crashed down on the forest floor, his hands unable to break his fall as they were busy wielding his lightsaber. Although the fall was fortuitously timed during a brief break in the onslaught, it would also see Ruzaan's head bounce solidly off of a rock and knock him out cold. Elidan would feel a sudden change in his bond with Ruzaan, as if the connection with Ruzaan was travelling incredibly slowly.

While Elidan waited behind a tree for a moment where he would be able to cut the legs of the droid off, he watched Ruzaan defending himself against the onslaught of blast shots. The half-Sephi couldn’t stop thinking about how his friend was so brave, he had jumped against their enemy without even questioning it. He wondered if he was capable of doing something like that.

However, the half-Sephi watched with concern while his friend struggled to deflect the shots. The droid was shooting at him so furiously and constantly that Ruzaan was being forced to walk backwards. Watching the Togruta slowly lose control of the situation and have his life in danger, made Elidan decide to attack the droid immediately.

Before he could move, Elidan saw Ruzaan falling on the floor. Through their bond, the half-Sephi could feel pain coming through it, before it became so weak that he thought it had been severed. Seeing the Togruta’s limp body on the floor made the auburn-haired boy become overwhelmed with horror, as if he was back on Ajan Kloss watching his friends being cut in half by the Sith.

Ruzaan!” the scream came from the deeps of his throat. Due to so many years without using it, the half-Sephi voice was deep and more broken than someone would have expected. Not even noticing that he had talked for the first time after so many years of silence, Elidan gathered the Force around and moved against the droid, gripping his lightsaber and prepared to attack it with all his strength.

After hearing the scream, the droid had turned its attention to Elidan and was preparing to shoot him. However, the half-Sephi moved so fast that it couldn’t react properly. In a blink of an eye, the droid had lost its arms and legs, lying in the ground defenseless. With this threat neutralized, the auburn-haired boy ran to see what happened with his friend.

Please, be well! Please, be well! Please, be well!” Elidan would constantly whisper it with his broken voice, while he kneeled beside the Togruta. He would carefully search Ruzaan’s body to see if there was any wound from the blaster. Thankfully, there was none. Seeing how his friend’s head was resting near a rock, the half-Sephi assumed that he had hit it when he fell.

Afraid that the Togruta could have some internal injury because of it, Elidan decided to go with him immediately back to the Jedi. “I’ll take care of you.” Mission, droid, transport and mysterious machine, all could go to hell! What mattered for the half-Sephi at the moment was making his friend get well.

Using all the strength that he had, Elidan grabbed Ruzaan’s body bridal style and started to walk with him back to the Temple. He was so desperate that he even forgot that some Jedi Knights were coming to pick the crashed transport. While they walked toward there, they would find the half-Sephi struggling to carry the Togruta. To their surprise, the apparently mute Padawan would be constantly muttering that his friend needed help.

Ruzaan had come to the conclusion that he was, regrettably, Dead. That was the only possible explanation for several things; the general fuzziness of the world around him, the muted sounds of his surroundings, and the fact that Elidan was talking out loud. The Togruta had to admit, however, that if this was the afterlife, it was kind of strange.

That led Ruzaan to consider the possibility that he was Not Dead. That would make more sense, given that he saw some Jedi Knights nearby that he knew to be Not Dead, and the fact that his head was in quite a bit of pain right now. He could also sense the Force Bond he had with Elidan to be full of sorrow, which was not something that fit the young Togruta's mental image of what awaited him when he joined the Living Force.

Ruzaan, then, decided that he was Not Dead and tried moving his limbs. The results would be encouraging, if not coordinated, and the Togruta struggled in Elidan's grip as one does when they wish to be set down. Words came following, too. "I'm... fine..."

After the Jedi Knights saw Elidan carrying an unconscious Ruzaan while looking like a madman, they called the Temple to send a transport to pick up the two boys. During the entire time that they waited for it, the half-Sephi didn’t let go of the Togruta. Not even when the Knights said that his friend was going to be well. “I’m going to help you.” it would be the only answer that they would receive from the auburn-haired boy.

Even when the transport arrived and they entered it, Elidan didn’t let go of Ruzaan. He only wanted to take care of his friend, make him stay safe until they reached the Temple. For many, it would look as if the half-Sephi was overreacting to this entire situation. But seeing the other boy's limp body in the ground made him remember what happened in Ajan Kloss. This time he would not abandon another friend to die.

Elidan only let go of Ruzaan after he noticed the Togruta struggling to get out of hir arms. When he heard his friend’s voice and his presence slowly became strong through their bond, the half-Sephi smiled and hugged the Ruzaan. “You are fine!” he would repeat it several times, while some tears would run down his cheeks. Then he would let go of the other Padawan.

Only now that he calmed down, Elidan noticed that he was speaking. However, the sudden knowledge that there were other people in the transport with them, watching this scene, made the half-Sephi incapable of talking again. At least for now. Due to that, he continued to communicate with Ruzaan through their bond. “Are you feeling something? We are returning to the Temple, so they can see if you need to be healed.

"I am fine!" Ruzaan would repeat, his tone betraying the fact that he thought Elidan wasn't focusing on the important things. "You are talking?!" It felt weird to say that- wasn't it normal for people to talk?- but for reasons he couldn't quite remember, Ruzaan found it strange nonetheless.

Then, the half-Sephi's voice filtered in through his thoughts. "Whoah..." the Togruta giggled, glancing up at Elidan. He then frowned, reaching back to touch a spot on the back of his head and wincing slightly as he made contact. "Ow."

Although Elidan had let him go, Ruzaan's first movements to try and sit up informed him that his body was not ready for that just yet. "What... what happened?" he asked, looking up at his friend with lost, searching eyes.

Elidan was relieved that Ruzaan was speaking, but he seemed to be confused. The Togruta voice was a bit sluggish and he wasn’t aware of his surroundings. The half-Sephi’s relief soon was replaced by concern, he was afraid that his friend’s wound could have caused much damage to his mind.

He watched Ruzaan giggle and touch the place where his head had hit the rock. Now he was free to move, Elidan wasn’t holding him anymore. However, the half-Sephi had carefully placed the Togruta’s head on his lap. The auburn-haired boy was prepared to once again hold his friend if it was necessary.

When Ruzaan asked what happened, Elidan became afraid that the Togruta could have really lost part of his memory. He tried to talk with him using his voice, afraid that using his telepathy could hurt him even more. However, he wasn’t able to do it. The half-Sephi was now aware of the presence of the other Jedi in the transport and it made him incapable of talking again.

While we were investigating the transport, a droid attacked us. It fired against you, but you were able to deflect it shots.” without any other choice, Elidan talked with him through the bond. “I don’t know what happened exactly, but you fell and hit your head on a rock and fainted. I destroyed the droid and now we are going back to the Temple, so the healers can see if you are fine.

Soon they would arrive at the Temple. The healers would carry Ruzaan toward the Medical bay, while Elidan would follow them. Even with his complaints, the half-Sephi ended up needing to wait outside while they took care of the Toguta. The Padawan would stay the entire time there, waiting to see if his friend was going to get well.

For reasons Ruzaan didn't quite understand in the moment, Elidan switched back to speaking through their bond. That was ok with Ruzaan; he was too busy staring up at his friend and wondering what he himself looked like from this angle; it was strange looking at someone's nose from this angle. "Good for you" he mumbled, before deciding that his headache was less severe if he kept his eyes closed.

~~~~
By the time they let Elidan in to visit him, Ruzaan had been treated by the healers and was under strict orders to stay in bed. For once, the Togruta wouldn't complain; his head was still tender from where it had hit the rock, and the patches of memory that still hadn't returned had scared him into compliance. Still, upon seeing Elidan, Ruzaan struggled up into a seated position on the bed; grateful that it was just the two of them in the room.
There was so much to ask Elidan about, that Ruzaan didn't even let his friend get a word in edgewise before peppering him with Important Questions.
"You talked to me?!? With your actual voice?!?" he asked, disbelief coloring his tone but a smile breaking out over his face.
After the Healers allowed him to see Ruzaan, Elidan didn’t wait any second and ran to see his friend. The Padawan felt relieved when they said that the Togruta was well, he had been so scared when the other boy fainted in the forest and woke up with his memory affected. The time that he stayed there waiting alone only left him more afraid of what could have happened, with several terrible scenarios appearing on his mind.
The first thing that Elidan noticed when he entered the room was how Ruzaan was struggling to sit on the bed. The healers had said that he was still weak, so the auburn-haired boy would be careful to not make him get more tired. He only wanted to see if the Togruta was fine and then he would leave him to rest some more.
Before Elidan could even sit in a chair next to the bed, Ruzaan already had asked him questions. The auburn-haired boy was already going to use telepathy to talk with the Togruta, when he thought that it could affect his friend negatively. His mind could still be confused. Perhaps he could try talking with him. There were only the two in the room, no stranger was there to watch them.
The Padawan opened his mouth, focusing on the comforting presence of the Togruta. "Yes, I talked. I still can't believe that it’s the first time that I spoke since what happened on Ajan Kloss." he said, this time he was successful in speaking. "You are the first person to hear my voice after a long time. What do you think of it?" in his opinion it was a bit deep due to lack of use.
"It sounds a little different than what I hear in my head" Ruzaan replied, smiling at his friend. "I can't imagine not speaking for that long!" Togruta were social creatures, and Ruzaan enjoyed asking people questions. However, Elidan had clearly still learned how to communicate despite his trauma, and now that he was on the mend the significance of Elidan's speech hit Ruzaan.
"That's... I mean, I'm... I'm glad you feel you can talk to me. Not just in my head, but actually talk to me" he said. He'd already asked Asadra about his mental bond with Elidan, and the Twi'lek healer had given it the green light in regard to his concussion. "But how we talk is totally up to you; I'm ok with either."
Despite his joy over hearing Elidan's voice, Ruzaan couldn't help but think about their shared mission. "If I remember correctly, you said that you took out the droid yourself? That was very brave of you!" he said. "What happened after I... made a fool of myself?" Ruzaan couldn't bring himself to finish the question.
"I think that it’s because the voice that I used to speak through our bond was how it was before Ajan Kloss." since he didn’t hear his own voice after so many years, Elidan could only use his memories of it. This was the reason why he sounded younger than he really was. However, like his body, the Padawan's voice also changed after so much time, becoming deeper.
I don’t mind talking to you this way. In reality, I like it.” Elidan thought how good it was to be able to use his voice again. “However, I think that when there are other people near us, I’ll use the telepathy of signs.” then he explained to the Togruta how he wasn’t able to talk to him when they were inside the transport with other Jedi. “I think that I only talk with you because you make me feel comfortable.” he said, while smiling at his friend.
Elidan blushed a bit after hearing Ruzaan say that he was brave for taking down the droid. In his opinion it wasn’t. He only wanted to protect his friend from the shoots. Now that he thought about it, the auburn-haired boy remembered how he attacked it with aggression, very different from his normal fighting style. He wondered if he needed to care about this fact.
I only wanted to protect you. When you fell, I thought that the droid had hit you with a shot and it was starting to walk toward you.” he wasn’t going to say that he felt so desperate with it that he nearly carried the Togruta bridal-style from where they were back to the Jedi Temple. ”I felt relieved when the Healers said you were going to be well.
After you fainted, the Jedi Knights that were going to pick the transport found us and called the Temple. Then, they sent a vehicle and we returned to here.” Elidan explained, omitting the fact of how he carried the Togruta and acted like crazy. “The Knights brought everything that we found there, including the droid. They said that we can analyze it when you get discharged tomorrow. We still have much work to do.” this mystery only seemed to grow and the boy was decided to solve it. The people that nearly killed Ruzaan needed to be stopped.
Ruzaan wanted nothing more than to jump out of bed and continue their mission, but the process of "analyzing evidence" sounded complicated; so after a moment of contemplation he decided it was better to stay in bed and rest. Besides, Elidan was recapping the events of the past hour, and Ruzaan was grateful that his mistakes had not led to the mission being scrapped.
Elidan's explanation for why his voice sounded different out loud made sense- Ruzaan likened it to not using a muscle for a while, and he remembered what it was like at the gym the day after skipping Leg Day. A voice that was used so little probably also had low stamina, so Ruzaan switched to talking through their bond in hopes that his friend would do the same.
[Sounds like you were quite heroic!] Ruzaan said when Elidan was finished with his retelling. [You didn't get hurt, did you? That droid wasn't messing around!] It was Ruzaan's opinion that Elidan wasn't celebrating his successes enough; perhaps he could help change that.
