He was not sure how long he had been staring at the datapad in his hands. Over and over again he had gone through what had happened on Nar Shaddaa. He needed something new. He couldn't exactly make an easy trip there and back. But he had an idea come to mind.

Getting up from his seat he made his way towards the holding cells. The ranger in charge of the cells for the shift let him in after he provided his sidearm and anything else that was considered a weapon. A quick sign off and record just to be sure. Even though Roland knew he was getting it back he never much liked being disarmed. Even if he knew how to fight without a weapon.

The blue armor of the Mandalorian headed down to solitary confinement but stopped in front of Oren's holding cell a few meters from the bars. As always other guards were nearby just in case. "Jedi Master Zapa. You awake?" He announced his presence, and his tone seemed to have the bare minimum of sincerity. It was not like disturbing the man's slumber was his top priority. "Got a few questions for you if you don't mind." The Sector Ranger cleared his throat, waiting for a response.

Oren had rarely slept since he arrived here, it had been how many months now? So much was probably happening out there, and he wasn't there to help--was the order okay, or had they moved on from him? The uncertainty of the whole situation seemed to be the worse part of it all, but there wasn't much he could do in this situation.

It was always quiet during the night, so when the sound of footsteps making its way down the halls, he knew they were probably coming for him. He would sit up in his bed, his lone brown eye shifting to catch a glance at a Mandalorian who stood on the other side of the bars. He got his name wrong, but the head officer had been doing it the whole time, so he had grown used to it.

"Sure," he'd say in a soft tone, his head slightly nodding as he pulled himself from his bed, to stand directly across from the man, "How can I help you?"

Roland did not envy the Jedi Master. For all his gifted abilities with the force he was still stuck in a cell alone with little to do during most days. A pause hung in the air as the Sector Ranger flipped through a datapad. He was not making a recording this time. He just wanted to hear the truth from Oren.

"Roland Rook, Sector Ranger." It was the first time the two of them had met. The armored officer showed his badge though it was probably redundant considering his location. "You mind refreshing my memory? You crossed paths with the one known as The Rain on Naboo right? What was the reason for you traveling there?" His dark cross visored helmet slightly reflected the light from the datapad. But he had already looked it over a dozen times in the past few days. He had the bags under his eyes to prove it, if he ever took his helmet off.

The Ranger's eyes were not looking at the device in his hands. Instead he was staring at Oren through the confinement, looking for the slightest tick or mannerism the man may exhibit that would give him a better sense of his character. "You have a soft spot for the fairer sex or something?" His helmet raised a little so that the Jedi knew he was looking at him.

Oren listened as the armored man spoke, he seemed soft spoken, dedicated, and carried himself with a sense of keen awareness. The legends he had heard about their people were mostly myth, with them being proud and brash, thick headed, but he seemed to defy such a statement. Don't judge a book by his cover..

Oren would nod as he asked about the girl from Naboo, it seemed things always redirected back to that topic, but he understood why. Though his last comment got a bit of a smirk at of the normally stoic Jedi. "You sound like my padawan," he'd say in a gentle tone, his feet shifting slightly as he recalled the night.

"Our order caught wind of darksider users returning to the galaxy. The Arcanist being the prime suspect. We had others, that had encountered ones on Mimban and Mustafar. It seemed to us at the time that it was a coordinated effort, and that they were coming for the galaxy."

He was unsure how the Mandalorian was taking the information, it was near impossible to read them behind their masks, "The council that leads us and the Grand Master have done little, myself and a few others took to calming the fears of our students. I took the Outer Rim and Mid Rim, looking for clues. I had a lingering feeling in the force, and I was drawn to Naboo." He'd pause, letting the Mandalorian process the words, "I was doing a patrol through the city when I encountered her."

"And it was on that patrol that you intervened in an altercation between her and another." He said it as a statement, like he was reading from the record and then tilted his head slightly to the side if Oren had any additions. "Is there anything about her description you haven't mentioned yet?"

Roland would think about how a Jedi might percieve the world. They had powers that equated to magic in his mind. "Do jedi see the world differently. I've heard mention of life and really spiritual talk that reminds me a lot of spiced out college kids but I think the auras they're talking about aren't the same as what you and your Jedi pals might see." There were crime lords that had reputations of drinking poison and laughing as it didn't affect them. There were folk heroes that accomplished great feats. But a lot of it was exaggeration and Roland was curious to see how much of the stories about the Jedi of old were actually true. Maybe that would give some indication about the dark siders in children's stories as well.

The Jedi master would nod, his orange jumpsuit shifting slightly as he moved a bit closer. "Aye, that's correct." He recalled the incident, as he closed his eyes--he could feel the rain pouring against his face, the sound of the blue blade hissing alive. "She ignited a saber, similar to my own, stabbing a man in the chest, killing him instantly. There were three others, and to save their lives I used my abilities to push them away, though she twisted and destroyed one of their arms when one of the men tried to shoot at me."

He'd pause, thinking about the memory for a moment, "And so, I stepped past her, expecting her to strike me down, but she didn't. I tended to the man's wounds and I did something I didn't like to do, but it was for the betterment of their lives. I used the force to alter or suggest that they leave the planet, which they complied."

He would peer towards the Mandalorian, wondering what his reaction was under the helmet, "She said that a man was hunting the diplomat down, and that she was trying to prevent it. So I told her I would join her, but when we reached the facility, she attacked and killed another guard. I saved two other men's lives and turned back to her, she stopped fighting at that moment and begged me to kill her, but I couldn't, to kill an unarmed, broken, and helpless woman, it wouldn't be the Jedi way. I tried to help her, and she left me with these marks, I started to lose a lot of what happened at that moment. I found out when I arrived here that the Noblewoman died."

He would sigh, understanding how all that sounded. The Ranger asked him about the world view of his order, causing him to pause. "I don't know what tenants that she and her Master follow, but it is not the same with a Jedi." He'd rest his hands against the bars, as he looked down. "The force is an entity that binds us all, I can feel it inside of you, it's inside of me, but it's in the air all around us, always present. Without the Force, there would be no life in the galaxy. There are many aspects to the force: The Living and the Dead, Light or Dark, each one has its own mysteries and complexities that even I, a Jedi Master, am still exploring. The lightside of the force seeks to continue to let life prosper and live, to culture and aid those in need and to care for the greater good of the galaxy, it's the embodiment of selflessness..The darkside channels ones emotions, desires, fears and doubt into strong physical powers, meant for attack or manipulation. It is bread of a selfishness for quick power that slowly corrupts and eats away at the sanity and body of the user...does that make sense? Jedi are not the light nor are the Sith or Knights of Ren the darkness, they are religions built upon worship or teachings of a certain aspect. To think that if the Jedi die or the Ren die, that darkness or light would fall is inherently vain or foolish...though I wonder how many of my Jedi brothers and sisters would feel this way."
