A Pantoran woman stood before the camera, bundled up in a dark gray jacket with a microphone in one hand. Behind her, Onderon's Senate Building. Crowds of people had begun to gather outside of the building, security officers standing guard to keep the rowdy group from storming the senate. Raising her voice, the Pantoran spoke over the tumultuous crowd.

"This is Elora Trevino with the Hyperlane Herald, live in front of the senate building on Onderon where Jedi Grandmaster Alex Voran has just been escorted from the senate chambers by security. Reporters inside the senate building have confirmed that the Grandmaster left of her own accord and did not put up a fight. Grandmaster Voran was not available for comment, but we were able to speak to an usher who witnessed the whole affair."

The screen cut to a young Sullustan dressed in a uniform with black tie. "I saw the whole thing," he answered eagerly, his black eyes darting back and forth. "I was bringing Senator Hergalor a fresh cup of hot tea when it all went down. The whole business made a cold chill run down my spine. I'm surprised the Chancellor didn't soil his pants again. One of the New Republic's admirals had passed out, too, but I don't know if that was the Jedi's doin'."

The screen cut back to Elora Trevino, coughing. This chronic cough had followed her ever since she had covered the ISC President's last press conference, where the reporter had a odd and unforgettable encounter with some type of monster and her noxious gas. The reporter had visited numerous doctors, but each were as baffled as the next and could offer her no cure but to give it time.

"All of this comes after Grandmaster Voran was accused of using Jedi mind-tricks on Chancellor Ro, an accusation confirmed by not only the Chancellor but the Grandmaster herself. It is unclear exactly what the Grandmaster pressed upon the Chancellor's mind, and reports vary. Some reports claim that she asked him to trust her, while others claim that she was sending him a message of a romantic nature. Although unconfirmed, it is widely accepted that the Chancellor and Grandmaster are involved in a torrid romantic relationship that has spanned these many months. Could this mark the end of their relationship? Or is it just a bump in the road to their happy ending?

"The senate is expected to vote soon on the expulsion of the Jedi Order. In the mean time, be sure to tune into the Galactic Herald as we keep you up to date on this developing and breaking story."

While the madness in Senate continued, Hergalor checked his dataphone after a push notification notified him that his name was recently published in the tabloids. He produced an audible tsk-tsk noise involuntarily; the same Sullustan intern who had, mere moments ago, delivered him lukewarm herbal tea had immediately sprinted outside to the nearest news cable to spill the latest senatorial .

He quickly typed a note on his dataphone to show to his aide Gonoval. Make sure he's fired for a breach of contract next week. Didn't want it to be so fast it was an obvious retaliation, but someone this fame-hungry obviously couldn't be trusted to continue along Senator Hergalor's side. His aides needed a little more discretion.

And, not for nothing, the tea was lukewarm, people!

Just as he had been for hours at this point, Jaikus was curled upon on the couch within a hotel room on Iziz – adorned in one of Emryc’s oversized hoodies and plastered to the HoloScreen. The crowds were still gathered around the hotel outside and their chants were vaguely audible, but the Axxilan had tuned them out (mostly) at this point. Instead, the Axxilan focused his attention solely upon the live senate session playing out on the HoloScreen.

The Axxilan couldn’t keep the surprise off his face as the drama unfolded. Emerald eyes went wide the moment Emryc exposed the Jedi’s usage of the Force, the Senate chamber seeming to erupt into chaos in response. He watched, leaning a bit forward in his seat, as the Jedi Grandmaster proceeded to deny the allegations, only for the Chancellor to contradict her before the entire Galaxy.

In one fell swoop, the Jedi had completely tarnished the reputation that had worked so hard to rebuild over the years. They had done more damage to themselves than anything that the Sith ever could. Within minutes, the HoloNet was buzzing with articles and headlines that flashed across the datapad in Jaikus’ lap – dozens of news stations jumping to cover the groundbreaking development – countless citizens already calling for the expulsion of the Jedi from the Senate.

Jaikus watched as the camera gradually panned away from the Jedi – now being escorted out of the chamber, and instead settled upon Emryc. He knew his partner well enough to know the man wouldn’t say anything in response to the situation. There would be no snide or smug remarks, nor any victorious smiles from the half-Sephi. Nevertheless, the Axxilan knew that his partner was exceptionally pleased with this most recent turn of events. Jaikus couldn’t help but smile at that moment – his face slowly starting to light up with an almost giddy expression.

The half-Sephi had accomplished exactly what he set out to do with that bombshell revelation, and to see him succeed filled Jaikus with both delight and a sense of pride in the man he loved.

After a few moments, the Axxilan settled back into his seat, plucking the datapad up from from his lap. He watched the half-Sephi began to lay out his first proposal since the early days of the Galactic Senate. He knew it was an important moment, and Jaikus focusing his attention entirely onto the HoloScreen.

Only once the half-Sephi had finished speaking did Jaikus finally glance down to type a quick message on his datapad. The Axxilan pressed send, and Emryc would see the message whenever he next glanced down to his commlink.

“That’s my man.”

With that, Jaikus turned his attention back to the HoloScreen, prepared to cheer his partner on from afar at every step.
