Jubjub

The Jubjub is a Hutt Business Ceremony, often taking place over the course of an entire day, through which a Hutt (or Hutts) and their hopeful business partner(s), engage in a series of ritual practices, attempting to outmanoeuvre one another, before signing a business deal. Dating from the foundation of the Kajidii principles some several thousand years ago, the Jubjub takes place in phases, known as 'Jubs'. Each Jub is a different opportunity for one of the two engaged parties to show dominance or superiority over the other, before the final 'Jubjub' (or agreement) is formally signed.

The process was initially formulated as a way of ensuring that Hutts could engage in business dealings, often with hostile parties, safely. By providing various avenues for the business rivals (and partners) to show their dominance, and vent their frustrations, without directly attacking each other, the Jubjub is considered an excellent, common-sense approach to doing business. The Jubjub is seen as a sacred practice by the Hutts, and they take its enactment rather seriously. The serious nature of this practice is backed up by its equally as impressive name.

The Feast Jub - The opening round of any Jubjub, is known as the 'Feast' round, in which gifts of food are given to each party by their counterparts, as a way of honouring them. It is commonplace and indeed expected that each side read into the meaning of the gifts, and question their meaning, before consuming them. It has also been known for certain foods to be given that are poisoned, and these days, a good Jubjub has several food tasters on hand to prevent the deaths of the Jubbers themselves.

The Blood Jub - Being the second round of the Jubjub, the Blood Jub is one of the most anticipated, and consists of a champion from either side of the Jubbing fighting one another for the amusement of their masters. Often, these fights are to be seen as a display of the wealth and power of the fighters masters, the more ornate and exotic the gear they use, and the greater their skill, something of great meaning and note. Interrupting the fight is deemed to be a great insult to the Jubbing, and fights must be seen out to their end. It is rumoured that the Blood Jub was invented as a way of Hutts fighting one another, without placing themselves at direct risk. Gambling is permitted on this round.

The Peggat Jub - The final round of the Jubjub, the Peggat Jub takes the form of the giving of gifts, once again as a way of honouring one's opponent. The gifts can be of great importance, or of worthless nature, depending on the regard in which the two parties hold one another. In order to make the exchange more combative, it is sometimes done by way of gambling, meaning that gifts can be won back once given.

The Jubjub - Once all rounds are complete, the final contract is signed, no doubt having been negotiated heavily whilst the Jubbers watch the ongoing rounds. Once signed, it is read aloud to witnesses, who are required to cry 'Jubjub' at the end of the signing, and then depart by separate exits, without speaking further for the rest of the day, so as to prevent any backroom attempts to undo the agreement.

Intent

To revive an old lore article from previous timelines, which in turn was done to bring something done by Jabba in his comic series in the 90s into the site canon. This can be used by criminals scum, to spice up negotiations threads.
