BIOGRAPHY

Julias Tannaras was lucky. He was lucky to be born with his name, lucky to be born on Brentaal, lucky to be born of the Sith.

The Tannara had risen to prominence in the decades immediately following the establishment of the empire. Like any family, they originated from a humble background- the slums of Coruscant. Their original patriarch, apparently named Melkiars, was born into a seriously poor and miserable existence in the lower levels of the megapolis of a planet, but he found success in various different business ventures, allowing him to leave his homeworld and make a living on the trading world of Brentaal.

Melkiars' family would've probably never risen so quickly if not for fate turning in a different direction. That fate was that his son, Morgias, turned out to be force sensitive, and given an opportunity to join the ranks of the Sith.

His own powers in the dark side never truly reached the rank of master, but that induction into the Sith order at all meant that by the time Morgias inherited his father's wealth and assets, he had connections with the young, ambitious elites of the empire, and had made many an ally of those who also lived within the imperial republica.

Morgias focused much on cooperative business ventures with the other businessman of the new Sith aristocracy, and by the time his own son, Saurias, had inherited his wealth, the family had come far from the dark, infested corners of coruscant's lower levels.

350 years passed with not a single one of the house of Tannaras being touched by the force. This did loosen connections with the wider Sith culture, but their aristocratic ties with many of the families of the Imperial Republica did not.

But 460 years after the conquests of Andraste, Theodoras Tannaras was born, and she was the first in centuries to have a connection to the force. It was looked at as nothing short of a miracle, which was used to great affect.

Her connection to the force and dedication to the ideals of the Sith were far greater than many in the Imperial Republica, but her station as a noble limited her advancement in the ranks. She would've pursued the path all the way to that of a Sith lord had she been able, but when her father had decided to retire at the early age of 60, all of house Tannaras' assets fell to her.

It was this that led her to return and begin the rapid business ventures in the expansion rim that would see the house of Tannara's wealth and political power reach their apex.

The family's success did not stop with business, however. Theodoras had fallen for a young man on Korriban and married him at the earliest available opportunity, much to the family's chagrin. They were blessed with a child in 486- who they would name Julias.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While the empire at the time of Julias’ birth wasn’t operating at the greatest it had been, his family was near totally unaffected. His mother had been steadily increasing the wealth of the family, as his grandmother had, and his great grandfather had, and all his ancestors before him.

The Tannaras line had never operated on the galactic scale, but they were still incredibly wealthy, and with that wealth came power. The tannara concentrated most of their holdings on the critical trading world of Brentaal- and they reaped the benefits from trade and taxes they imposed on any who wanted to pass through the system (with the notable exceptions of those directly serving the imperial throne.)

Julias at first went through basic education at some of the finest institutes of learning in the galaxy for the young aristocracy of the empire. His arithmetic and his skills with technology and science were poor, but he excelled in the arts. Traditional painting was a craft that could take men or women years upon years to master, but at the age of twelve, the young boy had completed amazing works in various styles. He had painted beautiful landscape painting of palaces and villas, he would turn what would seem like a mundane room into a gorgeous chamber once put to the canvas- but what was the most breathtaking of all was his portraits. He perfectly captured the beauty of any and every person who would step before him. Over and over, he proved to be an artistic prodigy.

This talent, however, would be overlooked by his guardians.

It was a cold day. The air was saltier than usual, he could taste it- Brentaal’s ocean breeze traveling a hundred miles inland. He was taking in the landscape, appreciating it- but his gaze would be interrupted, as a tap on his shoulder broke the young sith’s concentration.

His servant, Mish’taneth, had been instructed by Julias’ mother that he was to pack his most important possessions immediately. He was given no information, and beyond this, his twi’lek servant would leave with the flick of a leku.

He didn’t understand what was going on, but this seemed urgent. He would begin to pack, and continue to do so until finished. It was coincidentally at this point when Julias would decide to return to the balcony directly outside his bedroom, and again gaze out across the horizon. As he directed his gaze to the stars, as the evening had begun to set in, he saw a blip of light flick across the sky. A starship, he would think, a wonderful glint in his gaze flickering across his deep blue eyes. He had seen starships move across the sky, but he had never caught one right as they entered orbit! He would capture this moment in his mind- perhaps once he got to a canvas tomorrow morning, he could paint it. He would do it in exquisite detail…

…the ship had begun to grow ever so larger. It had to be making a landing, yes. There were many starports scattered across brentaal. But… it would keep growing. Growing in the sky until, in the distance, he could make out the shape. The colors… the insignia.

No.

It was unmistakable. An imperial ship, and the colors, they marked that of a sith’s own vessel.

Why would they come here?

His mother barely operated with the any of the Sith within and across the old empire. They were… strange, superstitious. He knew about the force- for kriffs sake, he used it all the time! He’d lift things off other students desks when he was younger, trip a person if they ticked him off. But what he had heard those sith on korriban did, with dark science and magic…

NO.

No, it couldn’t be. It couldn’t possibly be.

…his mother was going to send him to Korriban.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What a wretched, dark place this was.

He had been boiling with seething hate the day after he had arrived.

How DARE his mother do this to him. Was he just some investment to her? Her heir, nothing more? Of COURSE he had to go and complete these Sith trials, learn all the stupid techniques. Learn of the dark side, passion, strength, power, victory, emotion.

He was feeling emotion alright. Hate. A year of this garbage. He had at first admired and almost been inspired by the red sands and grand old temples of the world he was on, but he quickly grew to despise it. It was all the same. At LEAST on brentaal, the landscape changed based on the continent one was standing on, the mineral composition and plate tec- WHATEVER, had made land unique.

But on this wretched dustball it was all the same, all garbage, all old, broken down battle droids or tombs, and the fact he had to keep delving into them on occasion was the worst. He couldn’t even READ OLD SITH YET, but his masters and instructors were constantly demanding small artifacts, tablets, or whatever the hell they wanted. He completed his tasks, some students didn’t, and occasionally they’d get zapped or beaten or tortured.

But Julias, despite his hatred of this place, from the outside, almost seemed like he belonged there. He was surprisingly quick to learn in regards to the force, and the philosophy lessons on the dark side he was able to comprehend and understand- despite not really wanting to.

But his room was still dark, and cramped, and all of his old clothes had been worn upon his arrival. His grandfather had given him the white robes he had arrived in, but when he told this to a younger instructor, he was kneed in the chest.

He had been hearing nothing but bad news. The barbarians that they called mandalorians had been expanding and conquering and pushing into sith territory. The core world’s themselves were under threat. He had overheard on occasion that the forces of some sort of combined rebel groups were pushing towards coruscant. Julias and the other students weren’t that worried though- the empire was 500 years old. The Sith were destined to rule all that was- none were stronger than the sith, and none but the strongest Sith ever ruled the empire. What would the Mandalorians do against the Dark Lord? Against their armies, and later, what would they do against them?

At the moment, however, they wouldn’t do anything, as all he had been using for the past eleven months was a practice blade. Julias’ had held a lightsaber before- it was his family’s saber. It had been crafted as a tool by Morgias several centuries earlier, and had fallen out of use until his mother, his wretched mother, had held to it. But it would be his one day. It would be his, when that cold, unfeeling… no.

He had been taught to embrace hatred, and to use it as fuel to push forward, but right now he was going to defy Sith dogma.

His mother had placed him here for a reason. Maybe she hated him, or maybe she cared about the future of their family, or maybe she held tradition closer to her heart than most of the lords of the imperial republica did. She had never bothered giving him an explanation, but he had known her.

It was here that Julias determined something- blind hatred and malice weren’t proper tools of the Sith. They were of the dark side, but they were unrefined. Much as a hunk of iron could still be used to bash and bludgeon someone to death, they could be effective- but if melted down and refined, and molded into the caste of a blade, it’s killing potential would grow far, far greater.

Yes. This hatred for Korriban, for his mother, it could all be directed. Refined. Sharpened.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The paint would dry quickly as his brush went across the canvas. This was his third rendition of a particularly beautiful set of obelisks, taken from various different angles.

He sat on the beaten stone of an old statue beneath him. He was considering going into sculpting as well, though his sense of touch wasn’t as great.

He had realized, not to long ago, that it was the force that allowed him to paint in the way he did.

Twenty two.

Twenty two years old.

How much time did this make it? Nine years? Maybe ten?

Almost half his life, he had spent here. On this awe inspiring world of dark power, of ancient might and glory of old.

Yes, it was a privilege. An esteemed privilege.

But he still lamented a few key factors. His mother was dead, and while he had never received the full details, he knew that a crisis had occurred thanks to his absence from Brentaal. Theodoras Tannaras had not yet officially written Julias into her will.

In fact, she hadn't left anything in her will at all. It had caused many of his distant cousins to begin fighting and plotting amongst each other back home, until it was decided that all of her property, even including her lightsaber, was to be publicly held by the planetary assembly until it could be determined as to what would be done with all of it.

Billions in credits. 4,000 acres of privately owned land on Brentaal, and probably a small continent's worth across the entire galaxy. Assets material and immaterial, family heirlooms. All of it was out of his reach, and it would be until he could claim it.

He was glad, however. Glad that he knew that he could.

Julias Tannaras was lucky. He was lucky to be born with his name. He was lucky to be trained on Korriban.

He was lucky to be Sith. Lucky to be born as one of the greatest beings in the galaxy, lucky to be born with the opportunity to rise to heights barely any had climbed before. For in his eyes, the empire was a broken droid.

It just needed to be turned on and off again.

Personality

Julias was born in the wealthy aristocracy of the Imperial Republica, and his pursuits and education combined with this initial upbringing have created a rather… different sith.

Julias’ skills and love of the arts haven’t diminished over the years. He’s grown into a flamboyant, extravagant, and cunning young man with the artistic talent of a man who should be three times his age. While not well versed in traditional education, his understanding of literature and philosophy truly blossomed while having access to the wide libraries of Korriban. History to has also grown on him, interested in the lineages of the great houses of the empire and their conflicts over the centuries.

Years of time spent on Korriban would be expected to cause changes to a person’s core behavior, but for Julias, he has remained at his heart a hedonist. A more ambitious, cunning, and matured hedonist, but a hedonist nonetheless. While he still performs the functions typical of your average sith, that core world tastes he was so used to hadn’t left him. Wine, extravagant food, absolutely decadent behavior, all core facets of the young Sith noble.

Apart from all of these interests, however, Julias is still at his core a sith- though an odd one. Julias’ temperament is, calm, but in a way that isn't as unsettling and foreboding as most of his peers. At the same time his hate and anger is suppressed and controlled, continuously sharpened, only released and harnessed in the moments best suited to use of the raw power of the force. In stark contrast to this restraint, his pride is always on full display. He makes no attempts to appear as anything less as the brilliant, young, and exceedingly attractive heir to vast power and fortune.

Julias has placed much of his study of the force on how it should be viewed, and furthermore, how it should be used. His ideals are those of control, to wet the appetite for blood by abstaining, and then finally feasting on the emotions he’s been piling on the table.

He practices everything in refinement- drink, food, even combat. He uses the force as little more than a tool, but he still holds great reverence for the power he holds.

Beyond this, his capacity for cruelty is about what you’d expect. Inflicting pain is silently enjoyable to him.

Equipment,Assets, and Personal Possessions
Julias, at the moment, has very little in the way of personal goods. His family fortune is sitting up in the air, and it will take a lot of effort to finally lay claim to it.

Apart from this, he is in possession of a few garbs, a simple war blade, basic cash, paint, and 5 canvas'.

Skills, Strengths, Weaknesses
Stength- Julias is of slightly below average weight, and while not particularly weak, he isn't strong.

Perception- Julias' strength in the force allows him to detect much about the outer world around him that would be missed without it. He can read people's intentions rather well, and like most force sensitives, tell when important events have recently occurred, or are about to.

Endurance- Julias has completed basic combat training, but his build prevents him from taking a large amount of punishment before defeat.

Charisma- much about Julias is inviting. His cloths, his attitude, the calm of his voice and the wit and nuance of his conversation can easily lure people in.

Intelligence- while not a master in the fields of academics, the heir of the House of Tannaras isn't a fool. His understanding of Sith philosophy, the dark side of the force, and the arts are extensive.

Agility- with the aid of the force and the added bonus of a smaller than average build, Julias' ability to move quickly works to compensate for his other shortcomings.

Overall combat skills- Julias' force abilities and agility make him more than a match for a skilled bounty hunter, Mandalorian or alliance soldier, and against his fellow Sith, or even Jedi of similar skill and ability, he can prove to be a challenge.

Overall force skills- Julias' abilities are still developing, even after years of training. Only experience can allow him to rise to even greater heights, and he'll have to acquire that...

Additional skills- An absolute master of the arts, Julias is a prodigy with the paint brush. His art alone could probably make him rich if he decided to do portraits for the aristocrats of the core worlds, but his ambitions prevent him from stooping to such a level. Additionally, Julias can keep near anyone interested in a conversation about almost any topic, though those who are of a much higher station or those who are force sensitive may not be as interested.

A self Portrait.

Here it is!

I've been working on this for a week, and I really do hope that I can add to everyone's RP experience with my new character.

I would like to note that all the art I've used is merely for reference, and there isn't always going to be a halo of black speech behind my guy's head- the art also belongs to Gerwell, probably one of the most talented guys I've ever seen.

If there is ANYTHING missing, I'd very much like to know, and if there are any conflicts, I'll make changes as immediately as I possibly could. I do hope that you guys like the general idea though!

EDIT: seems that in my brilliance, I forgot to use PENDING for one of the prefixes. MODS, DON'T FORGET MEEEEE

I'm not okay with your character's linage possessing any number of Sith Lords. While your character can be a noble, but I'm going to have to say no to Sith Lord linage unless it's a descendant of a Sith Lord player character from last timeline (in which case you can just ask for that players permission, or apply to be a Drast with instructions for the character creation guide) But even then we can't assume there would be any more Sith Lords between that descendant and your character.

And just to be crystal clear: your character has no reputation, the houses's assets would need to be gained through a plot (and a lore article detailing the house may be asked of when plot is submited, but you can cross that bridge when you get there.

Let me know by tagging me when you are ready for me to take another look at this profile.

Alright. Thanks for highlighting a few possible issues.

I'm fully aware of the lack of reputation/assets. I totally get the concern, and I appreciate it, as you've probably had plenty of people in the past try to act like they just have infinite money- but I don't. I've actually been drawing up concepts for a future plot. It's as you said- his reputation doesn't precede him. His family holdings have been temporarily frozen, and it's up to some RP'ing to thaw them out.

But yeah, I did consider that an entirely consistent line of Sith lords going down for 450 years would be a bit crazy (unless I WAS a Drast, but that was a passing idea, not my original plan.) Perhaps his mother and the initial founder of the house (and him ofcourse) but nobody else?

Let me know if that sounds better, and I'll make the necessary changes!

A quick clarification, just to make sure. Would you want the Sith background entirely removed?

I'm fine with the linage having Sith in it but no Sith Lords (or anything similarly or higher ranked) in it.

I think the edit's I've made will prove satisfactory! I can't seem to be able to change the font for one paragraph though, but it's really just a pet peeve, not a problem.

We are getting close. Still see some references to the generations of Sith Lords and connections with Darths in the bio. Still close though.

Make sure to use 'CTRL-F' to search those words and edit them. No worries, since you wrote a lot they're not hard to miss.

AH! Thank you, I can't believe I didn't see those! I'll fix them immediately. The Darth connections aren't genetic though, but should they still be changed?

It’s easier just to remove any connections to Darths. Similar to having any connections with like a Jedi Council or anyone else higher ranked in the totem pole.
