(OOC: Open to those who want to go for a hunt. Or be hunted either or.)

Umbara, a dreaded planet for most as it was known for it's dangers. Though for the Mandalorian, Laren Vano, it would be a good place to trainn his Nexu, Cabur and Buruk. They were bought from the Black Sun for this very moment. The plan is that eventually they will be trained and tamed properly under Laren. Currently they trust him as he feeds them and shows his affection. This was time for training though. Cabur and Buruk were Mandalorian names given to the Nexu. Cabur meant 'Guardian/Protector' and Buruk meant 'Danger.' They fitting names as they were named by their personalities.

Many would argue that beasts don't have personality. Only hunger. In most cases this could be deemed true. Laren hadn't seen these Nexu that way. Within them were souls, and when a being has a soul, they have personality. Buruk was fearless, and would kill anything that harmed his sister Cabur. Cabur was the calm one, she was quick to protect Buruk at all costs. Thus how their names came to be.

Laren had been waiting for the right target to come by before training his Nexu to hunt it down. Whether the target be that of Skeeris or Slybex or even a hostile person. Cabur and Buruk were fairly large. Not yet fully grown of course. Buruk was the one with black fur and Cabur had light gray. The Mando was ready, and only needed his target to come out. Laren sent word to an ally of his (@Tom )that was eager for a hunt, that he is on Umbara and is ready to begin.

{Hey, This is the LZ for the ship, you'll have to trek on foot the rest of the way to this point. Oh, and don't freak out when you get here.}

Laeonas' coming here was on rather short notice. The Mandalorian and him had spoken about what it was he'd been interested in him for. Admittedly, Laeonas had been intrigued, but not for the same reasons as Vano.

Kneeling on the metal floor of the cockpit, the bare skin of Laeonas' back and chest were exposed in the dimly lit room. He was concentrating on the environment around him, practicing the familiar meditative trance he'd adapted from the Jedi's techniques. He had only barely moved for two whole days, and that wouldn't change unless he chose to.

He'd reached out through the ship, feeling every nook and cranny of it's environment. His mind drifted into the pantries, stocked with fresh rations. Over days, he managed to pick up on a spot of mold he'd failed to clean when he had cleared out the old pantry. By now such small discoveries were normal; he'd noticed a catch in the hyperdrive, a rattling from some loose screws in the refresher, and countless more tiny defects from a ship that was twice as old as he was.

The boy wasn't performing this task for fun; he wasn't eager to stave off hunger and thirst for days just for amusement. What he did was in the service of attempting to expand his skills with the force. Whether it actually brought about results was another story, and the answers would come soon enough.

--------

He'd dropped out of hyperspace and guided the ship down through the atmosphere over the course of half an hour. His skills with piloting were still shoddy, given that he'd only started flying ships when he acquired the one he was presently in. Landing without a clear pad was an issue for him at first, but eventually he managed to find a flat enough hillside to touch down on.

The voice had come over the intercomm, and Laeonas opened up the comm channel in response. "
Comin' down; will arrive soon enough."

This was as much a test of his abilities as the meditation was. There was no bloodlust or excitement in what the boy was about to participate in. It was a simple matter of practice.

The wait for his ally to arrive was longer than expected. Looking around the area he was in and then down to his Nexu, Cabur and Buruk. Nothing has come their way just yet. Hunting sometimes took time to actually get anything, so the Mandalorian just sat patiently until his comrade arrived.

Petting his Nexu, Laren recieved the message from Laeo. This was good and he couldn't help but think to himself thank the lords. The area was empty so finding Laren and his Nexu shouldn't be too hard. Though Laren could use this as an opportunity to teach Laeo about stealth, and teach him to be stealthier than he thinks he should be. For now he would wait. Scaring the kid was not the thing he wanted to do at all.

"What's taking this kid so long?"

The Nexu just laid on the ground relaxing and waiting for their command. Laren was taking it easy himself, the waiting was the best part of the hunt, just not before the hunt. That part is what really sucks.

When the bay doors opened up, the boy would stand alone within his ship. In front of him was the vastness of Umbara's jungles. It was an alien landscape unlike any he had seen before; whereas Dantooine was covered in grass, or as Ossus was a vast, arid plain. This world was a jungle however, dense with foliage of alien origin. Nothing he'd experienced came close to this; not even the vast jungles of concrete that he himself had lived in for most of his life.

He'd tread carefully, observing his surroundings quietly. Based on the coordinates he'd been provided, he was less than half a mile from where the Mandalorian was waiting. Running normally wouldn't have been an issue, but with terrain like this, the boy wanted to be cautious. Getting eaten before the hunt had even started would be a terrible way to go. Without a word, he began moving.

The boy had landed in a stretch of clearing, and it would've been easy to travel through had it not ended 20 meters in any direction. So, he'd begin making his way through the foliage. The glow of bioluminescent trees and plant matter cast a purple hue over his body. Cautiously, he drew his saber-- and a crimson glow battled with violet, mixing together in a pinkish light. The humming of his blade was both physical and spiritual, as both it and him radiated with the raw power of the force.

Any creatures that approached would have to size him up. They'd need to determine whether a tall humanoid, clad in black and carrying a blade of fire was something they wanted to fight against. In truth, the boy wasn't sure if he could take on Umbara's unique flora and fauna. The uncertainty only heightened the challenge however; choosing to throw himself into a dangerous, unpredictable situation that could end in his own demise would test him.

In a way, it was a test for Umbara as well. The world as well as he needed to fit him into his niche, find out where he belonged on the food chain. That was why he wasn't immediately attacked, even if the boy could sense some presence interested in him. The humming of his lightsaber was matched in intensity with the thumping in his chest as he began to move quicker. Boots crunched over thick foliage. Steady breathing escaped his lips.

When he found himself on the other side of the small patch of forest, he stood awkwardly. He'd immediately stopped his movements once there were no more trees around. Further, he spotted his partner. The Mandalorian would see him clad in the black leathers he'd worn in their match together; obviously replaced, but the same style. In one of his hands awkwardly angled was his lightsaber, a red blade hissing out as it was put away.

He'd walk forward, nodding a bit.
"Tha wait wasn't ta bad, nah?" He asked, the unfiltered accent hitting the mandalorians ears like a speeder. "Ai've... well, Ai 'aven't been t'a world laike this one. Most Ai've been ta'r either lots of empty space, or lots of buildin's." He explained, blinking a few times in rapid succession.

"Sorry if Ai sound weird. Concussion's still a problem." The boy clarified, pursing his lips. "So, uh... remind me of tha plan again, will ya?"

As the Mandalorian was awaiting the arrival of his acquaintance, he looked out and was able to spot a red blade from far out. Lifting his rifle he would look through the scope and realize that it was Laeo. The kid could've been shot, he definitely needs a lesson in stealth. Which should be fairly easy. Lights were a big no no. Once the kid got closer, he began to speak in a horrific accent. It was loud and just butchered. After trying to make out what he was talking about, Laren would answer,

"Well kid, the plan is the hunt. You'll learn soon enough. This planet, Umbara, is home to many exotic species. Far more exotic than Cabur and Buruk here, and I want to take these beautiful animals out to nab a couple creatures out here. You'll be learning how important stealth is. So step one, no unnecessary light sources. It gets dark I get it, but your eyes adjust to the darkness. Soon enough you'll see what is in front of you by 60 meters."

Laren began walking out as he whistled for his Nexu to follow. The two, Cabur, and Buruk began to follow. Cabur let her tail slide against the legs of Laeo. Laren stopped and turned around before continuing and looked at his acquaintance.

"Ya comin? There a hunt to do!"

Chysim watched the others from afar when he first arrived on Umbara. He wasn’t sure why the Mando form before had a few Nexu, but it would be alright. Chysim hunted and killed enough of those things to handle himself around them if they acted out. The Trandoshan slung his cycler rifle over his shoulder and grunted to make his presence known. He stood a little ways behind the Mando again- like how they met on Ryloth.

“Better get them animals trained good. This place is and always will be my hell. But I haven’t visited Dathomir yet.”

He was sure the newbie would be alright with him tagging along, especially since he’d been acquainted with the Mando. He didn’t need to be taught how to hunt. Chysim had been doing that for thirty years. Ever since he could carry a blaster, his father had learn how to hunt predators first. Because if he could hunt while being hunted, then he could hunt anything else. Later in life, Chysim joined the BHG, which was essentially the same thing he’d been doing his entire life. It’s what made him such a good Bounty Hunter.

He took his cycler rifle in his hands and followed after Laren, keeping an eye on the two other beasts. Maybe he should raise something one day too.

The Mandalorian provided a better explanation, though the boy was still a bit confused. Regardless, he'd follow after the man, trying to ignore the two nexu with him. He kept his lightsaber off at the armored warrior's not so subtle suggestion. All of this was still new, but all of it would definitely serve as a challenge as well. This would be something new-- and he didn't doubt that it would still be valuable.

As they began to move, Laeonas was surprised to find another member join their party. A large, reptilian man came upon them almost out of nowhere. The boy had never seen one of his kind; the depressed look on his face gave way to curiosity. This one carried a large rifle-- probably more powerful than the A280 the boy used. He didn't keep staring for long just so he wouldn't give a bad impression.

The Mandalorian had spoken about using his eyes, to which Laeonas silently found amusing. The lizard and the man in the armor were limited by their physical perceptions. By contrast, Laeonas was capable of reaching out with the force. His perceptions were limited by the presence of life itself. In a jungle such as the one they were in, life was abundant. In truth, the only problem he could imagine occurring would be being swamped in the presence of all that was around him.

"Saber only comes on when Ai need it. Aight." He would respond, beginning to stretch once again. He'd let the Mandalorian take the lead; there was no point in unnecessarily risking a mistake.

Once the Mandalorian was ready to head onward to find a prey, some familiar voice came out. It was snakey, much like a reptilian man he had met before. The Trandoshan by the name Chysim Reech had just entered the fray. How had he come across the Mandalorian again? Was there a bit of stalking involved? The Nexu would have noticed he was around if he hadn't smelled as foul as the rest of this planet.

"They're not the ones that need to be trained anything."

Laren had found himself watching the movements of the Trandoshan. As long as there was a rifle in his hands, the Nexu's lives were at risk. Granted, the likelihood of his survival after shooting at the Nexu was almost at zero, Laren would rather his pets not die today.

"Don't even think about shooting my felines. I don't care if they're ripping you apart, you hurt one of them at all you die. That's not a threat. That's a PROMISE!!"

After staring a hole through the Trandoshan his focused stare was broken from the broken basic of the boy next to him. I mean really, someone should have educated this kid. Laren turned to Laeo and then nodded to show Laren knew he understood the rule of the saber. More importantly the light.

"See how you can sneak around like a snake like Chysim here? Except, I could teach ya so much better. Just don't get ahead of yourself and we'll be fine."

Laren turned to head down the path through the bioluminescent flora of the unforgiving planet known as Umbara. The idea was to find a quick couple prey for his Nexu and of course to teach Laeo. For some reason Laren could feel that their first encounter was coming close.

“You expect me to lay down and die if one ‘em cats tries to eat me or else you’ll kill me?” Chysim chuckled and relaxed a bit. “Another Mandalorian said something similar and challenged me to a duel. I ripped his arms off. Got this.” He gestured to the DE-10 in it’s holster. “I don’t care if you’re a Wookiee or a Mando, respect is respect. I’ll respect your animals, Laren, as I do you. So I expect the same from you as well.” The older lizard sighed and stopped to taste the air.

That was weird.

“Hey, keep your eyes open.”
He said to Laeonos raising his cycler rifle a little higher. Chysim wasn’t worried about Laren, if he couldn’t smell then he probably heard it. The Trandoshan wasn’t sure what he was smelling- but it was dead. Something else has recently killed it, but not for a meal. For sport. The damn animal was moving somewhere, but Chysim couldn’t pin point where- which bothered him immensely as he never lost track of…

Now it clicked. There was multiple of them. The old Trandoshan cowboy glanced at his dioxis grenades and smiled. He fell back in the ranks to keep watch of what was in front of him. He was a sharpshooter, not a Mando. He aimed down sights to scout out the perimeter and continued to keep careful watch over his new allies.

Drama. The lizard and the mando were fighting over... something or other. The boy couldn't be asked to pay attention, or to care. Fights between his associates were common on missions, and while this wasn't a mission in the strictest sense, it wasn't entirely unexpected. On this occasion, Laeonas was in the rare position of being a bystander rather than a catalyst. They'd found their way to each other's throats entirely without his help... at least, that's what the boy assumed. Perhaps it was the planet, with it's dim lighting, foreign terrain, and dangerous wildlife that put them on edge.

Or maybe it was something else. Something that the force sensitive was all to familiar with. Men like these weren't averse to acts of cruelty or malice, so they could've brought the wrong with them. There was also the possibility that the world itself was drenched in the dark side-- but Laeonas dismissed that idea out of hand. He was keenly aware of any foul presence, and an entire world would be easy to notice. The only way he could miss it were if his senses were disrupted. Since he was still conscious, that couldn't be right.

Than the lizard man had said something, addressing the boy himself. A warning, obviously based off the tone. He didn't bother to ask the taller hunter specifics though, instead shifting to a cautious stance on instinct. Laeonas wasn't familiar with hunting for sport-- this was his first experience. The boy was familiar with hunting, as he'd done it a number of times on Dantooine. Sure, on that world there was nothing but grass, rolling hills, and the occasional cave, but he'd killed to survive-- and he wasn't bad at it.

This world was different, but his instincts remained the same. He was cautious, more so than he had ever been on Dantooine. The dense jungle was alien, and it was dangerous. His legs would root themselves down as his heels dug into the soil. Taking a deep breathe, he'd draw his saber, leaving the blade unignited.

This was going to be interesting.

"Lucky for me, I'm not another Mandalorian. I'm Laren Vano. Plus, Cabur and Buruk prefer their food warm blooded, Trandoshans taste horrible to them. You stink too, so you'll live."

Then Laren heard movement, also taking into notice that Chysim can tell something is off. There is some type of beast or animal or something out there taking prey out for sport. It was an uncommon thing to happen with normal beasts. They usually ate their prey. Not this one. This one seemed to want to just kill it. What could have done this?

"Hey kid, stay close. Something very dangerous is out here."

I mean obviously right?.. right?

"Chysim keep them slits open and let me know what you see as I return the favor so we get out of here alive and I can kick your ass properly ya hear?"

The Mandalorian would turn on his thermal vision within his helmet and search around. There were unidentified species running through the flora around. It was hard to see them clearly as the flora was getting in the way. Seemed to only be three of whatever was out there. Drawing his blaster in his left hand he would look around and then back to Laeo,

"Only turn that thing on if you absolutely have to, wee have to remain as invisible as possible, so stay quiet and and move cautiously."

Chysim chuckled at the heartwarming compliment Laren gave.

“With pleasure.”

He hissed a bit before returning back to peering down his scope. He could smell everything- all the creatures that passed through, the tracks they made, the number of each creature, almost the shape and size of them, too. Chysim took his father’s lessons to heart and knew that if he did as he was taught, he would no longer be the hunted.

He glanced at Laeonas’ lightsaber hilt and grumbled, “No. Use your blaster. This thing will go for the light if you use it. I’d prefer it be me or Shiny over there. Speaking of…” He made a short gesture with his talons to signal Laren to move his cats out to flush out the predators. They should be smaller than the nexu. Or at least he hoped they were smaller- probably just as big at most.

He quickly tossed a dioxis grenade overhead into an area that would force the beasts to face the trio if Cabur and Buruk did their job right. Then, the beasts would be perfectly lined up for Chysim, Laren, and Laeonas to take a piece out of them.

The cooperation between the two hunters was a stabilizing sight. The boy felt more comfortable turning his back to both now that the likelihood of them shooting each other was slim. Laeonas would've felt more comfortable with his lightsaber in hand-- but where the two professionals agreed, the boy was reluctant. He didn't know how fast these things were. Having to spend a few seconds dropping his blaster and igniting his saber could mean the difference between life and death.

But they knew more than he did-- that was undeniable. So, he clipped the Sith weapon to his inner jacket, and pulled out his rifle all the same. Taking the mandalorian's advice, he dropped to his knees. The grass moved quietly as the boy inched forward, sights trained on the brush ahead. He wasn't familiar with hunting with anything more than a spear-- but he was familiar with hiding his presence.

When the grenade flew, it didn't take much intuition for Laeonas to find out what the reptilian was trying to do. Laeonas remembered back to his days of hunting Kath hounds; a particular evening where he was trying to bait a single hound out of the den. He'd screamed and wailed, scaring most into hiding-- but not all. A few had thought he had to be a threat that needed to be stopped... or a meal.

He'd dropped down on one, with Laeonas fists beating the creature into a bloody pulp. The other had lunged at him-- but his spear had impaled through the kath hound's skull. He'd pulled the weapon back, grabbed the dead beast, and ran.

He doubted that the two professionals would appreciate the crude methods of a half insane crash survivor. Laeonas wasn't inclined to try and see if his one-off would work on completely alien fauna, but he was curious to see if he could do something similar. The human wouldn't scream, yell, or climb up a tree and drop down. Such a flashy performance was unnecessary, and such recklessness could get him killed. All he needed to do was give whatever was waiting a... push.

He'd reach out, expanding his awareness as he tapped into the force. He couldn't feel individual creatures, but the mass of life brought with it emotions. When he tried to concentrate, flashes of feeling and experience ran through him. He knew there were techniques to manipulate animals; texts on Ossus spoke of those that could drive beasts to attack others, or soothe them to calm. But the primal feelings and drives of the beasts were of no concern to Laeonas, and even if they were, he lacked the knowledge on how to exploit them.

Instead, the boy would reach out and send tremors outwards. It was a technique as simple as hoisting something, or pushing it with his mind-- only instead, he shook the occasional tree, rustled brush, and tossed stones around. The hunters would be able to pick up on it-- a few hundred feet deep into the jungle, they would see trees shake, and hear branches and leaves crack and shift. Whatever was waiting wasn't going to flee in the opposite direction to get away from the poison the lizard had chucked their way.

Laren wasn't much for taking orders. He was an alor of Clan Vano. Being the one taking orders was for sure not his thing. So instead of sending his Nexu, Cabur, and Buruk, out to draw the unknown beasts. He would send them to the edges where they would be able to attack whatever ran out. A tactical play, he could see his Nexu, and they do half the job for the hunters. Win, win.

The Mandalorian looked over to see Laeonnas using the force, which in most circumstances Laren would've said was a bad idea, but right now in this moment, it was welcomed. Whatever these things were out in the unknown were going to become known very quick. Especially when that gas is surrounding them entirely. The fight with these creatures will be enough to call this a successful mission.

As the gas had spread and covered a large area ahead it was becoming clear where the beast were going to be coming from. The tree-like structures and such were shaking and the beast were undoubtedly coming to the opening of which the hunters were located. This was about to become a warzone.

"Be ready, this is gonna get ugly."

Running out into the open were three Slybexx coming for a fight. Cabur and Buruk hand jumped onto one and began to claw and bite at any part of the beast. While it fought the Nexu, Laren and Laeo had a problem running right to them. The Slybexx charged to the pair in the open.

"Fire at will kid!"

Laren began firing his blaster at the beasts running towards them. The blaster bolts were hitting but the Slybexx were determined in their efforts. Laren was ready to jump to the side when the beasts got too close, and he did. Swiftly he leaped and rolled away to the left. Though it wouldn't stop the Slybexx from turning around charging again.

One of them had seen Chysim taking a break from teh front lines and began to charge. Chysim sniffed and scrunched his nose before firing at one of the weird looking animals. The first one he hit came down dead at Chysim's feet, the hole in it's head still sizzling from the shot. The cowboy watched the Mando's beasts tangle with one of the other Slybexx while Vano dodged an attack from the last one.

"I'd gas 'em again, but I don't think you're lungs would like me all that much, heheh." The Trandoshan chuckled as he aimed his sights down at the retreating beast and fired to shots, both hit the left shoulder of the sucker. "See if you can get it to charge me- it's how I got the first one. Can't pick off the one you're rat-cats have! Movin' to fast and I don't want to hurt 'em...much. Heheh." The hunter aimed down sights again and searched the brush for the other beast.

The movement of the nexu to the flanks was one that Laeonas didn't bother to question. It made perfect sense, especially with beasts like these. As the gas slowly began to spread, Laeonas pressed out with the force. Any gas moving in their direction would meet an invisible wall. It was a basic precaution, but it was one that made sure that none of them would be harmed; though with the Mandalorian's filtration and the Trandoshan's biology, it was mostly meant to protect him.

The movement in the woods would grow louder, and seeing as Laeonas had stopped his scare tactics, there could only be one source. Grabbing his blaster, he'd set it to burst fire, holding it at the hip. Judging by the loud noises in the woods and the seemingly lumbering movement, these things seemed large, and rather easy to hit. He'd never been a terrific shot to begin with either way. The Mandalorian would say what was blindingly obvious, and almost on cue, the beasts appeared.

The massive creatures barreled out from the forest of violet trees quicker than the man could've predicted. In fact, they were much quicker than he'd imagined. They might have taken their time crashing through trees in the forest, but out in the open, they moved like giant, hulking speeders. He barely had time to actually aim his blaster as one of the beasts charged at him and the mando. Peppering it's tentacle covered face with shots, the creature would let out a mighty roar, clearly in distress.

Like the Mandalorian, he'd dive to the side to avoid it's attack. He held himself steady as it turned to charge at him, not even able to get his blaster up this time. That was when two blasts from the Trandoshan sped past him and hit the beast. "CAREFUL WHERE YA SHOOT!" The man shouted, anger audibly trembling in his voice as the beast started to retreat. Looking in the trandoshan's direction, he'd see one of the already dead beasts laying on the ground. His eyes would than dart to the other one, which was being overwhelmed by the mando's nexu.

At the trandoshan's suggestion, Laeonas summoned his saber to his hand. Igniting it, the crimson blade would hum it's bloodthirsty song. "C'MON!" He'd shout at the beast, reaching into hit's mind, attempting to draw out feelings of aggression. It was about as much of a primitive technique as one could apply to a mind, and it took no formal training-- only the knowledge that it was possible. With it, the injured beast would let out another angered roar, and charge at them.

"FIRE!" Screamed the raven haired human, preparing to leap over the beast if it weren't brought down.
