DESCRIPTION​

If the K0-9 Diplomatic Station was created to service the growing diplomatic needs of the Galaxy, the K0-10 Defence Station was created to acknowledge that sometimes diplomatic solutions may not be truly effective. Built with a modular design, the K0-10 Defence Station is, at its core, two 'upper segments' with hulls extending downward into utility spaces - the optimum number of segments, however, is eight as seen in the above picture.

Due to its design, the K0-10 is quick to assemble, easy to produce and cheap to manufacture - this has seen the design really take off with planets both poor and rich. Even poorer planets can afford half a dozen K0-10s on their defence budgets and larger, richer, planets can choose to deploy literally dozens of the stations to assist in the defence of their planets.

Within each station are several squadrons of starfighters/bombers and shuttles/gunships that can be scrambled to help defend the local area. Alongside that, the station itself is armed with dual medium laser turrets to ward off counter-attacks made by all but the larger sized capital ships. To protect against boarding actions, each station maintains a standing security force of 200 soldiers.

While stationary, the K0-10 Defence Station is safe to be towed through hyperspace by a team of heavy freighters.

LEGALITY​

Restricted. K0-10 Defence Stations are legal to purchase and operate in most of the Galaxy, although their size and armament does require special licensing by most galactic governments.

INTENT​

To create a purely defensive space station that can be placed in orbit over planets to provide a more concrete, stationary, defence element alongside the defensive fleets.

RESTRICTIONS​

K0-10 Defence Stations might be technically legal but they are expensive and require special licensing or the sheer ability to ignore said licensing - as such they are typically faction assets.
