DESCRIPTION
The K79-S80 troop transport, also known as the Imperial Troop Transport or simply the ITT, is an armored personnel carrier originally developed for the Galactic Empire by Ubrikkian Industries. Though not the fastest or highest capacity troop carrier in the Galaxy, or even in the old Imperial inventory, the ITT was among the sturdiest, its hull being constructed from doonium, a legendarily tough metal usually reserved for super-heavy capital warships. As a result of this, and of their ability to carry a relatively heavy cargo load in addition to their troop complement, ITTs were widely used by the Empire and remain in service on many planets to this day.

The ITT measures 8.77 meters in length, has a crew of 4 plus 10 passengers, and is armed with a pair of light laser cannons in the forward hull, as well as a dual light laser turret on the roof. The vehicle is rather slow for a military repulsorcraft - just 150 kph as its top speed - but it can carry up to 55 tons of cargo internally and on its roof. Its hull can also shrug off hits from a medium laser cannon, and it is often used as a battering ram to destroy barricades due to its durable frontal armor and high weight.

Notably, the ITT has a unique troop deployment system, consisting of 6 open "pods", 3 on each side of the vehicle, which can open like the starting gates in an animal racing event. These allow for rapid deployment of the troops inside the vehicle from either side, and make convenient parapets, allowing soldiers inside the vehicle to fire their weapons out even while the vehicle is in motion, while still providing a reasonable amount of cover to duck behind. The one downside is that the ITT can never be completely sealed because of this system, and thus the vehicle is always vulnerable to grenades or other explosives being tossed inside, not to mention precision blaster fire. Due to its durable construction, the ITT is not likely to be seriously damaged by such attacks, but crews and passengers are quite a bit more vulnerable.

LEGALITY
Restricted. ITTs are purpose-built combat craft, and are thus generally restricted from civilian ownership on most civilized worlds.

To add a vehicle from Canon to our site's fanon.
