APPEARANCE:
Karath is a brown-furred Selonian with dark eyes and a few scars, blaster grazes and the like. His body is lithe and wiry, and his feet and hands are webbed. He has sharp teeth that are often exposed when smiling, talking, etc. Frequently smells a bit like fish, due to his typical choice of sustenance. Those of us looking back on this galaxy far, far, away would perhaps describe him as looking not entirely unlike a large, bipedal aquatic mustelid, having somewhat similar attributes to those of an otter, perhaps a mink.

He probably looks something but not entirely like the image below:

ATTRIBUTES:
Not the strongest when it comes to brute strength, but Karath is quite agile, and a good shot with his blaster. He also carries a long dirk inside his clothing for when blasters don’t quite cut it. Naturally very good at swimming, though that is rarely of use considering the ubiquity of desert planets scattered throughout the outer rim. Can be quite stealthy when he needs to be.

PERSONALITY:

A disillusioned being with many regrets, he nonetheless maintains a sense of idealism about what the galaxy should be like, and is quick to defend the downtrodden, though is often not successful. His mind often wanders to past failures, past battles and a long list of tragedies, though he still manages to look towards the future with a sort of “optimistic pessimism,” a sense of “Hey, it can’t get that much worse, can it?” and maintains a sense of humor, though often a little grim and self-deprecating. Has occasionally been known to let known criminals off the hook after stirring his sympathies, and has gotten into shouting matches with other rangers over his perceived “softness” on crime. However, a deep sense of anger, dissatisfaction with the fact that the world isn’t as he believes it should be lurks in him, and this occasionally comes to the surface. One wouldn’t want to be the type that preys upon the downtrodden or Karath’s few friends when up against him, as his softness vanishes quite quickly in such cases. He occasionally wonders, “Why bother at all?”



BIOGRAPHY:
Karath was born on Scitheris, a world tidally locked to its dim red star, one side enshrouded in eternal darkness, the other covered by snowy mountain ranges and massive, icy stratovolcanoes that tower into the upper edges of the troposphere. Grim old fortresses and towers dot the bleak wintry landscape, relics from an ancient, brutal war. A small, circular region of temperate rainforest is present in the center of the Starward side of the planet, the warmest region, where the world’s few cities are clustered, danger lurking in the frozen lands beyond. The inhabitants of Scitheris are the remnants of the crew of a fleet from long ago fleeing some threat that has been lost to legend, thus the world is inhabited by a variety of species. Karath has little knowledge of Selonia, and has never set foot upon his “homeworld.” Occasionally he will see others of his kind and feel a sense of longing for similar faces, for the skies his kind evolved under. There were few others of his kind on Scitheris, though there were some… One in particular, Aria, a Selonian girl from his younger days who died as he was leading an expedition into the mountains often haunts his dreams, among other ghosts. Through intense self-study and his skills as a mountain ranger (plus a bit of occasional banditry, another regret) on Scitheris, Karath learned enough to make it off-world on a freight hauler as a Navigator’s Assistant, provided he also take on guard shifts when planetside. A little further along in his career he became a ranger with the ISC, believing the Republic to be too bureaucratic and slow to act, if well-meaning enough. Now he does what he can to project his own sense of idealism and justice to the rest of the galaxy, though he is often distracted from this, occasionally resorting to smuggling and other illicit, if harmless enough activity to make ends meet.

SKILLS:
Karath is a good shot with his blaster, though not exceptionally so. He is good with a bladed weapon, though doesn’t use one often. He is at least mildly force sensitive, though does not understand this. Often has odd dreams, perhaps a slightly heightened sense of danger in some situations. Has never held a lightsaber. Karath is a perfectly okay pilot, often opting to let his droid assist him. He likes to have his feet on solid ground when he can.


GEAR:
Carries an EE-3 (https://thestarwarsrp.com/index.php?threads/ee-3-blaster-carbine.94106/) blaster carbine with a wooden grip, typically in scopeless, pistol configuration in a leg holster. Often wears an old grey military jacket over a dark green blast vest. Keeps an old E11 stormtrooper blaster on his ship, mostly for the stun feature and because it was cheap black market surplus. A decent loaner weapon, as well. Has a few other odds and ends, but doesn’t have much in the way of possessions.
