Karina Safin is a specialist with the Independent Systems and an undercover agent working for the Five Syndicates. Originally born with the name of Inessa, she was abandoned to the streets of Nar Shaddaa with her younger brother Dima, forced to live out in decaying landfills and sewer lines. It wasn't until she was indentured to a notorious crime lord did she find her purpose in life. Trained to become his most secret and one of his most valuable assassins, she followed his every order, murdering rivals and enemies at a whim.

However, with time, Inessa grew tired of the criminal life. She desired nothing more than to take her brother far from the Nar Shaddaa underworld, to live out in peace on a quiet world in the Consortium, and wash the blood from her hands for good. But a deal was a deal, and there was no escape from this one.

Karina’s employer, discovering her plan, kidnapped Dima. Threatening her with his life, the crime lord forced her to continue his work—including, most recently, the infiltration and surveillance of assets in both Republic and Independent Systems space. Taking on the name of ‘Karina Safin’ and inheriting a whole new identity, both sound and untraceable, she enlisted with the Consortium military and climbed to the rank of a reconnaissance specialist.
